The best shortcut there is is "q". It is a pippet mode. If you go over a machine, conveyor belt, etc., then press "q", it takes it and you can build it. So you can build much faster.
One important thing to keep in mind: look at the ratios. It's all ratios. How many steam engine per boilers? How many oven you can put in line per half belt of minerals? How many gear factory do you need put to produce just enough for all your red science factories? How much green circuit factory do you need to fill a belt? This will make your factory a well running factory.
Yes, the most common one being looking (cursor on) at an object/recipe in the crafting tab. For simple crafts you'll get the actual ingredients & total of corresponding base materials. For more advanced structures you'll see their crafting speed, power requirements or maximum outputs, etc. Boilers, among other stats, converts up to 1.8MW (fuel->heat) while steam engine outputs up to 900kW. Most ratios end up being exact numbers, of very close to, thanks to an old patch :) @@aquilaecompany
You can click on a power pole to see detailed information on its network (what is producing/consuming, etc). Not all buildings are equals, and radars are notorious power hogs.

You might want to check out the “tips and tricks” button over the minimap.
This video is missing in your factorio playlist. Please add it. I see episode 1 and then 3. 2 is missing

Very good tip, is there an in game way to determine this like a tool tip?
