    I no longer consider air travel as an option. I don't worry about crashing. I worry about the hours of a screaming toddler on the plane.

      I understand your position. As a single mom I had to fly with my toddler when she was under a year old. The altitude changes really affects children and she started crying. They put wet, warm compresses on her ears, which helped her. I wasn't aware of the pain she would experience beforehand, and never flew with her again. But a crying child on a plane would be horrible for most, so I understand your feelings.

    I feel bad for the lady being lied to by the person she really loves and this about something which can pose a serious risk. If people don't want to do something for some reason, don't manipulate them to get them to do this. If he did this about a flight, what else was he manipulating her about ?
    You never fail ! Again a very well done video !

      Pardon, but can you please elaborate on what you mean by your comment? Just genuinely confused, a surprise vacation is a devious thing to do for your partner? 🤔 It sounds as if you are putting blame on her boyfriend, as if he should have known better than to take a plane somewhere when they had already been living in different places all over the world, therefore I'd assume that they enjoyed traveling to new places... I'd like to understand where you are coming from, what is the rationale behind your comment?

    • @laurie1536
      @laurie1536 Месяц назад +4

      @@wheresmyoldname He knew she was claustrophic and didn't want to take the flight. She asked to drive instead and he lied to her about it being only a 20 minute flight when it was more like a solid hour. 3 times what he claimed, to manipulate her decision/compliance with his wishes.That behavior was selfish and deceptive, not something a respectful partner does to their loved one.

      @laurie1536 Ok thanks for clarifying. I see where you're coming from, I viewed it more as a kind gesture with the best of intentions but the way he went about it was deceitful when it comes down to the wire, and while I wouldn't have taken offense to what he did I can absolutely agree that everything you said was fact. He did deceive her to achieve that goal of creating a surprise for her. I don't blame him though because I do believe there was nothing nefarious about what he did, he just made a stupid decision and probably never thought much further about it, definitely didn't think it would cost her her life, and his, just a tragedy all around... but you are right. He did do everything you said, that is the truth of the matter no matter what his intentions were.

    This story was just especially heartbreaking, I'm actually in tears.. I know this isn't a good outlook but I wouldn't want to survive through this one, especially if my partner was gone. At least they had that moment before the crash to touch each other's hands as a goodbye. It's incredible how well she managed to compartmentalize her pain both physical and mental, and how clever she was with what she chose to do. What a strong woman, I imagine the ones to find the wreckage were shocked to find her alive.

    The compassion shown by the rescuers was next level. To take of your shoes and walk barefooted through a jungle. To keep the bumps down for her. That is actually pretty dangerous. This is how all of us should treat each other. This story actually makes me think there is hope for humanity.

    I was in the emergency services, search and rescue for 30 years. The end bit about exploring for caves and water is not great advice. The searches are looking for a crashed aircraft. It is easiest to see. If you wander off into the jungle you may have shelter or water but you may never be found. Searches have time frames, based on survivability and budget. I was involved in a lot of long searches where the person walked away from a vehicle accident, mining camp, school hike etc. Shelter and water are important but so is visibility in remote areas.
