This is one of the best interviews I've watched with an actor. EVER. What a thoughtful performer, and very happy that the film got a release after almost being buried
Listening to you describe his ability to resort to literary references as frightening is what's frightening. To young people nowadays anyone who reads is considered a demigod and worthy of a pedestal or a statue.
We need more of Jeremy. In this 4-minute segment, he shared more deep thoughts then some other guests. There's something about his talk that somehow satisfies an intellectual hunger you never knew you had.
What?? Never knew you had? Um wtf are talking about sir or madam? An intellectual knows. I don't get the stupidity of your comment. Somehow satisfy... Omg.
I felt the exact same way the first time he was with Stephen a while back. I felt mesmerized and wanted to somehow end up randomly at a dinner party where he would be a guest just to hear what he has to say about things. You can tell that he is much more than the terrific actor that he is.
He’s a genuine guy In this day of celebrity phonies. He doesn’t show up and tell some made up story about how his flight got canceled or how he was pulled over by the cops for speeding or some nonsense story to simulate entertaining tales for the audience.
If Jeremy Strong ever retires from acting, my wish is that he would teach Literature classes at a university, I would totally get a second MA just to be his student lol. I get so happy whenever he pulls out another quote by memory
I still vividly remember amazing Al PAcino performance of Cohn in amazing Angels in America. After that I started the 'deep' research of Roy Cohn and I almost puked just to see his photos, especially the iconic one with Trump. Cannot wait to see The Aprenntice and Jeremy's take on him; it'll be our family trip to the theater for my birthday this Saturday. KAMALA/TIM 2024 💙💙💙
Just saw the film this afternoon - was even better than I expected - very subtle and thought-provoking. The performances by the actors are amazing! You won't regret seeing it.
@@firenze5555 We saw it and did love it. Jeremy Strong as Cohn was absolutely brilliant! As well as Sebastian Stan as Trump. I don't think anyone did or has understood that booking, but even at 12, something about him seemed creepy and smarmy to me. Look it up if you want to have a weird feeling for an hour or so....
if not him, someone else would have. It's not like Trump would have turned out a wonderful human being if not for Cohn. Trump was already ruined, by his despicable father and absent mother, well before Cohn.
Jeremy Strong is the Jodie Comer of actors. You never recognize him in anything because he transforms himself each time, not so much physically but you can never tell the same actor from The Big Short also played Kendall Roy in Succession.
Saw the movie today and my initial thought was how cleverly I was sucked in to the "humanized" version of trump depicted. I would be really interested to know whether the movie actually increases appreciation for trump by those that support him. But to me.. the lack of judgement per se given by the actors and filmakers actually made it more authentic and honest. Very Well Done. This is a very good biopic of the greatest con man in political history
Saw The Apprentice movie. I actually want to see it again. Jeremy Scott’s portrayal of Roy Cohn is Oscar worthy! Sebastian Stan did a great job of portraying DJT. The movie is not what you think and is definitely not a “political” movie against DJT. It’s about the relationship between Roy Cohn and DJT. Really good. Almost made Trump more human in a way and feel sorry for him. It’s a well balanced portrayal of DJT.

Apropos of nothing, Upton Sinclair is responsible for a quote that's always stuck with me. Talking about the fact that "The Jungle" - despite Sinclair's intentions to expose worker exploitation in the meat-packing industry (and, secondarily, horrifying absence of food sanitation) - had a greater impact on protecting the food supply than it had on protecting the workers who supply it, he said, “I aimed at the public’s heart and by accident hit it in the stomach.”
"One of the worst humans of the 20th century" is REALLY saying something about DonJon's mentor. Pol Pot, Stalin, the big H, Newt, Rush, and Rupert...and Trump's mentor.
Just saw it yesterday. It really does feel like a study piece and not a pro or anti trump film. And I’m definitely anti trump, Vance, mark, etc. But him and Sebastian Stan both should get nominated and also Maria for their performances and portrayals. It feels like if the safti brothers (Good Time, Uncut Gems) directed it in a sense. It just felt gritty, real, dark, depressing, and humanizing the people without making you feel bad for them but more so understanding how they became the monsters they are today. But it’s also understandable if someone just doesn’t wanna see a trump movie period, I almost didn’t.
Just saw the Apprentice... it's like watching a villian origin story. Roy Cohn was not the villian, he was the apple. He knew exactly where his goals & red lines were and had zero guilt or doubt commiting anything in the pursuit of them. The villian is trump. He meets Roy and sees that unrestrained disreguard, yet he never forms his own lines. Never grasped a sense of caution. But Roy, the apple he presented to trump was praise, encouragement and an lesson to stop asking & start threatening. You can almost see the blackmail hanging over Lindsey Graham, McCarthy, Vance... man even Vance has his Peter Theil something about gay inhibitions mentoring these two.
Wow, Jeremy has really upped his talk show game; I remember they stopped sending him out for interviews after, like, the first or second season of Succession.

Spot on. Miller is cut from the same pathological cloth as Cohn. In many ways Cohn was more of Drumph's life teacher than Fred was. Fred understood enough about business to make money and pass some of the trappings on to his son, but it took Cohn to inspire the provocative and more sinister brand of azzhattery we've seen for a decade.
I get what you mean but t ABSOLUTELY NOT! That is an insult to the true narcissist, Cohn. Steven Miller WISHES, he was Cohn. Miller is a second gen Cohn.
Roy Cohn was related to my father’s cousin, although not to me. She never met him, as he died the year before she was born, but she said he was kept away from most of his relatives, but he and her grandmother got along (they were first cousins).
Saw the film in New Zealand on Sunday 13 October 2024. Brilliantly acted. Take a read of Roy Cohn’s Wikipedia page and then make the connections with Donald Trump…the latter started out the student to Cohn’s mentorship …and then rapidly learned the lessons and evolved into the very person we know today. It started with his father but his underlying narcissistic personality was ripe for taking on the despicable. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
What do you mean here: Cohen was portrayed as too human? He was a human being, like all of us. He lived what he decided to do in his life and also had to accept the consequences. We all have to cope with more or less difficult things in life, it shapes us all and we react to it as we feel like it. As beings blessed with intelligence, more or less, we have the opportunity to reflect...if we want to. Whether we actually do it is our choice. However, what comes out of it is always human, what else?
I despise Donald Trump, what he is, what he stands for and how he's manipulating people to do his bidding but I absolutely think that it is important to see the human behind and how they got to the point where they are. I can recommend Mary Trumps book Too much and never enough to see more behind the curtain. It is only from recognizing the human and see him for what he is the true realization can come that someone like that can never be allowed to hold any political power.
@@LasseGreiner I couldn't agree more. I even have a descent size pond between me and this madness and I'm affected by it anyway. I guess that it is part of the human condition, when we feel insecure or afraid we tend to turn to authoritative leaders and listen to oversimplified arguments. The same tendencies is seen all over Europe as well. On the bright side the Poles did the sensible thing and voted for someone more sane than their previous buffoon.
How is he manipulating people? What does he stand for? He's still a better pick for office than Kamala and the democratic party, that's the incredible thing. As bad as Americans think he is, he's still the better option for that country. It's incredible that that's where America is. Your left is so bad Donald Trump is the sensible pick, let that sink in...
Dangerous to make people seem human... We're in a dark, transitory time in America, which will affect the world. Thanks for the work, minds open folks.
Despise evil and ungodliness, but men of ungodliness and evil, these understand. We must not be frightened or cajoled into accepting evil as our deliverance from evil. We must keep struggling to maintain our humanity, though monsters of abstraction threaten and police us.
"ungodliness" Using the magic pie man in the sky is the biggest problem for civilized humanity today as it has been for thousands of years. Religion makes people stupid, mean and selfish, that is why religion has retarded civilized society for thousands of years.

🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
This was a very good film. I watched this afternoon. It pulls you into a very shady world of corruption & winning at all cost mentality.
Sad as it is we have to devote time to this condition. What lengths we could go without these distractions. Sigh!
Jeremy is always so uncomfortable in these interviews, but he's such an interesting, thoughtful person. I love hearing him speak.
Anytime someone protests something for being “too real”, just understand that they ACTUALLY saying “I don’t like reality”
BRO IS ONLY 45 OMG THOUGH HE WAS 53
Unlike Colbert the actor seems smart and humble.
This guy is intriguing!
Dangerous to make people seem human... We're in a dark, transitory time in America, which will affect the world. Thanks for the work, minds open folks.
To date, actually, all persons have, to our knowledge, been humans.

Yes, but too many are too often too inhumane, huh?
@EdwardLindon
(*Plus, not I've got Men in Black stuck in my head, lol... wondering if there are any extraterrestrial aliens among us! 🤣👽🤪)
If you think something is dangerous you should use your brain and never get near it. Incredulous
Am I the only one that thinks Jeremy Strong should play Harvey Dent in The Batman universe
Jeremy should receive an Oscar nomination for his performance. Riveting
indeed good film
I wish he didn’t say what street Roy Cohn lived on… East 68th street is where Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel lived! Now that street is tarnished.😡
But at least Lucy and Ricky's apartment number was somewhere in the East River! LOL
I now... I want to see that delete scene of Jeremy strong singing in a frog costume...
Fact check: it was Sinclair Lewis who wrote the 1935 novel, It Can’t Happen Here, not Upton Sinclair 👍🏻
I can stop thinking of Lana del rey lyrics when I see this man

Despise evil and ungodliness, but men of ungodliness and evil, these understand.
We must not be frightened or cajoled into accepting evil as our deliverance from evil. We must keep struggling to maintain our humanity, though monsters of abstraction threaten and police us.
"ungodliness" Using the magic pie man in the sky is the biggest problem for civilized humanity today as it has been for thousands of years.
Religion makes people stupid, mean and selfish, that is why religion has retarded civilized society for thousands of years.
Colbert has just grown more and more grotesque over the years. He's like a modern age Mordrid.
Dr Francis got some GUT
Man.. when they make the movie of the whole... thing... Donnie isn't gonna look very human.
Sebastian Stan doesn’t even pretend to sound like Trump, this movie will bomb 💣
I disagree. The Stinking Orange should get a movie as outrageous as "Mommy Dearest."
