    Thanks for the detailed explainations on how to disassemble the T480.
    Three comments, if I may:
    - some T480 have an M.2 2280 connector "built" into the HDD/SSD enclosure, so you need to know what you have before looking for a replacement (i.e a 2.5" SSD would not work there)
    - the WWAN M.2 is the shorter 2242 standard, so you need a matching SSD for it
    - the tiny hole at the bottom allows you yo disconnect the integrated battery i.e when pressed is the same as taking the internal battery out for a full system restart, nothing more (but works wonders when/if the system freezes)

    THANKS
    Just opened to see whats inside my new to me T480. The battery is shot, think the previous owner had it on a bed as its layered with dust on the inside. I had no internal battery and already have a NVM fitted inside the HDD/SSD caddy. No way to fit a second HDD/SSD though. Think the USB that provides power can easily be repaired though as its screwed down.

    Did you need disable the internal battery in BIOS prior to replacing the RAM?

    • @ItsBinhRepaired

      For RAM you just need to make sure the computer is shut down completely.

    I see you missed m2 2242 port. I know that some t480 have posibility to connectron in ethernet with sim card. All t480 have this sim card port but you must buy module lte 4g to sim card work??
    I like to buy module 4g to M2 port but I wonder if they all will work with t480. Like module Qualcomm EM7305 4G. I see is exist fibocom L850 i guess dedicated to this laptop.

    On my t480 for some reason the clip which is supposed to latch itself in the unlocked place just springs back right away, so mine requires 1 person to hold the clip and one person to remove the external battery lol. Because I cannot hold the latches and remove the battery all by myself lol.

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  3 месяца назад +1

      You slide it out a tiny bit on the side you pull the latch on, then move to the next side.

      @@ItsBinhRepaired oh yea! But on mine the latch bounces back a few seconds later lol

      That second slot is for 4G LTE, if fitted, however, can use for M.2 2280 for storage only, cannot boot from it.

    I understand they're good tools but your nails are kinda disgusting. I think I'll get a guitar pick or something and live with the slight annoyance of keeping it around and misplacing it on occasion, but still be able to talk to people.
    Thanks for the detailed explanations, I'm considering to buy a notebook that's pretty good and well built on the other hand not super expensive so this helps, the 8th gen seems to be a good compromise being the first generation of relatively energy efficient 4 core cpus.
    One thing, I think people talked about how this model can fit a 2242 250gb ssd in place of the LTE module and you didn't even mention it, I assume the slot is the slightly bigger black cover above the sata hdd slot. Not sure it's super important I was just thinking if I wanted to use both Windows and Linux maybe it's worth to keep them on different drives, just to be safer from destroying one or the other's boot loaders.

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  2 года назад

      The boot loader actually is only stored on one drive even for multi boot usually. You can use guitar picks if you'd like, but I find nothing works quite as well as fingernails attached to fingers.
