Yes I also think they covered the battery because it is a non genuine aftermarket battery using the lenovo logo. I think this is very likely the reason. the CMOS battery also looks like an aftermarket one too. 11:37

I just got a T470 on Friday, and it also came with a 256gb M.2 SATA drive in the holder. It took my NVMe 1tb drive, and ran just fine with the Fedora 38 install already on the drive. The drive you found inside that one has a Dell part number on it, definitely not a stock Lenovo piece.
