    its unbelievable from todays standards that this laptop has so much upgradeability or swapping if something is broken. Still an amazing laptop for 2023, especially the s model because of its lighter weight, smaller form factor and way easier access to the internal components (t480 has those ugly plastic nobs that break easy if you arent extremely careful)

    Hey! Thanks for the tutorial it was really useful! I replaced my screen but the touchscreen sometimes randomly detects “a finger” in the same place over and over. You have any idea of what might be producing this? Could this be a faulty screen or a mistake during the assembly process?

    Great video, Im planning to replace the battery and this was very useful. I have a question, does the new battery need to have the same model name or are they all interchangeable? Cause I've seen several names.

    It was not clear, but it seems that the adhesive strip is supposed to remain with the bezel, NOT with the screen. Is that right?

    • @beandrive
      @beandrive Год назад

      I also have a T430, Serbi's Random Tech has a video that shows how to upgrade the TN screen to an IPS panel. You can get the special video cable and the IPS LCD panel on eBay like I did. I use this T430 as my "daily driver" and put many hours into this unit and the results are remarkable. I will use this until Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows 10 users and forces us to use Linux. happy computing!

    Could you please explain why it is risky to replace the screen with the battery in place? Thank you!

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  Год назад

      High voltage capacitors can cause arching when disconnecting the cable. Also, if the connector comes out at an angle you can short it out.
      Not only do you want to disconnect the battery, but you want to open the laptop and hold the power button at least 15 seconds to drain the resistors.

      In addition to what is said in previous comments - when the internal battery is not disabled or removed some parts of the motherboard are still energized even if the laptop is off. So it only takes an unfortunate touch of the screwdriver or dropped screw to shortcircuit something potentially ruining the motherboard. And with screen replacement a very common issue when working with the battery enabled is blowing the backlight fuse, so the screen shows the picture but the backlight is missing and you can barely see anything only in direct sunlight. Actually I would recommend disabling the internal battery even before any disassembly of the laptop. You can do it in bios (bios-configuration-power-disable internal battery). The battery unit has internal switch that cuts the power and de-energizes everything even if the battery is still physically connected to the motherboard. To enable it back you just need to connect power adapter to the laptop

      @@salimsoltan2465 T480S is just slimmer and lightweight however for ram upgrade it has a soldered 8gb and an additional slot to upgrade to 16gb. You can buy a 16gb ram card and max it out to 24gb. Only downside to the slim it has one internal battery which gives decent battery life.
      On the T480 it has an internal battery and an external battery so dual battery. It's slightly thicker and heavy but it's more upgrade friendly. You can upgrade the external battery size and it has two Ram slots you can upgrade both to a max of 32gb.
      I got the T480 with Intel Core i7-8650U 1.9GHz. and I sold my T480S.
      It's really just preference. I have no issues with the T480 and it's not much thicker or heavier. I can travel around with it.
