This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. I hope you look forward to the Nintendo Switch successor being announced within this fiscal year.
Thank you, Mr Furukawa.
You assassinated Iwata to become President
Hi boss!
Hi dad
I love these parody accounts haha 😂
I really like Shuntaro Furukawa's conservative approach to this. It's what the fans want and he know's that. I wonder how different it would be if Satoru Iwata was still alive
Lmao
Honestly, this is the best choice Nintendo could have made. Why fix what wasn't broken in the first place?!
All that really needs addressing are things like Joy-Con drift, some laggy recent releases and maybe even rezzing up some bad ports and they're golden.
If it ain't broke, you're not trying.
Yep. It's not like there isn't a market for a stronger switch. They just gotta make sure the marketing is good unlike the wii u's.
Looks like Nintendo is learning from their mistakes (Wii U).
Switch might not be "broken" but it sure is boring and bland as hell. It has good games, but as a SYSTEM, my god it's Nintendo's worst. Excluding Virtual Boy.
I'm fine with that, especially if it means full backwards compatibility, the switch is still a great console it's just needs updated specs
True. Next gen Switch is an upgraded Switch in all aspects including core architecture but still have same hybrid concept
Yeah. I can only think of all the ways to surpass the Switch all on one hand.
The extra horsepower would be used for the new games only. Switch 1 games would run in a built-in Switch 1 mode with zero performance changes besides faster load times.
@@lol-ih1tl That's my take also. Switch 2 can play all Switch 1 games physical & digital in lock Switch 1 settings only (lock 720p 60/30fps handheld mode & 1080p 60fps/30fps tv mode). No enhancement in resolution, framerate & graphics
@@Hazeman. with the only improvement being faster loading times.
From my point of view I have a gut feeling the system is going to have connections with the OG switch models
Just like how the 3DS did it with the original DS
This gives them the opportunity to fill in a lot of the holes that the Switch had.
I’m hoping this next console brings more life to the system.
• Themes
• Extra non-gaming apps (like more streaming services, channels like the Wii had)
• Messaging
• Better UI (folders, better look, better organization)
• Better eShop
And by god, we NEED more power, above anything else.
Add a microphone and non-drifting joycons to that list too
I just hope that there's a brand new OS rather than a different version for this system.
It's the perfect moment to fix the current OS problems and lack of features
No more basic black and basic white... No more checking for internet for 5 minutes randomly when launching games...
I can dream!
Give me an OS packed with features like 3DS and Wii U did!
Oh thank goodness, we can stop caring about rumors of when its coming out
Ikr.
Its been rumored for like... years 😆
Nicktendo can finally stop making click bait videos
only to have them pop up again 2-3 years for the next system lol
@@MintBerryCrunchPowerhe’ll probably make a switch 3 video.
I had a feeling the reason they went for Yuzu so hard out of nowhere is because the new console it's just a more powerful Switch so they are scared it's going to be emulated super fast (and it will)
Plot twist: the name ends up being Switch U.
What would the "U" mean?
Switcheroo? Switcher U.
@@lol-ih1tl “but in thinking about a new Nintendo system we knew the prevailing thought would be this: yes, the game will probably still be right for all of us but could it also be a perfect fit just for *you*? And the answer to that question is an emphatic absolutely. In fact we’re so convinced of it that we put that pronoun right in the name”
@@hock_100 so that means that the system's library will be personalized with games being made specifically towards each players' very specific tastes?
@@lol-ih1tl I was just quoting Reggie during the Wii U reveal lol
I believe that Nintendo sees how many people love the switch in general so they said "since they love the switch, we're not gonna come up with a new console design. It will be the switch but yet different in hardware. New console... but keeping the switch design."
Someone came up with the name Switch Snap. That would be dope ngl
Nintendo 2 snaps up in a circle 🫰
Switch Flip?
@@Sean-qg3gg cool name too
No, please no. Parents will think it's a different version of the old one. Just name it Switch 2 ffs.
All they really need is more powerful hardware say PS4 range and backwards compatibility then they're good to go
I’m gonna be very pissed if there’s no menu or mii maker music
Or themes other than what we have now.
Worth noting, this doesn't rule out some kind of gimmick. In fact, I think this signals something more like a DS -> 3DS kind of succession rather than a pure graphics bump. It's probably going to have SOME kind of gimmick. It's just that they'll probably go for something that ADDS onto the Switch rather than replaces it, similar to how the 3DS took the concept of the DS and added stereoscopic 3D. I can't see them doing a pure specs bump and calling that a day, that'd be extremely disappointing and very unlike them.
3DSwitch lol
@@Gold_Yoshi Well by a 3DS leap I don't mean that it's going to be a Switch with stereoscopic 3D, it's going to be a Switch that layers some kind of new gimmick onto it like how the 3DS added a new gimmick (which in that case was stereoscopic 3D) to the dual screens.
@@boltstrike2787 I know, I just thought the concept was fun
I just they don’t make the same mistake they made with the Wii U, since that console could also be described as a “Next Model Wii”
They have learnt.
@@The360MlgNoscoper We'll see
The only mistake they made with the Wii U was unclear marketing. It was just all over the place when it had so much more potential than almost everyone thought.
Man, last time I bought a Nintendo system was fresh out of highschool. A little surreal to finally be getting a new one!
Time flies! I remember seing people playing with the switch at school on release day.
As someone who’s still rockin’ a day one launch Switch that’s on it’s last legs, this just makes me almost assured to not upgrade to a Switch OLED. Might as well just wait for the Switch 2 at this point.
Same thing here. Not day one, but still first model. Age has caught up to it.
Mr. Iwata's legacy still lives
Hopefully, that means all of my digital/physical switch games are backward compatible
I just hope they’re prepared with supply so it’s not another PlayStation 5 disaster again. This is the one where it counts.
I mean, every Gameboy in the Gameboy family was a completely different thing. They just decided to use the Gameboy name to indicate that it was a portable console. The same will probably go for Switch, which has basically taken up that mantle. It will be portable, and it will probably be able to dock as a console, but the system itself will most likely have some major changes under the hood to address the issues of the first iteration.
Alright, the Switch Succesor is finally confirmed! Now you guys can go crazy with the “leaks”!
Evolution of console, revolution of games. I’m sold
This makes sense. Nintendo shouldn’t try to do anything radical after the success of the Nintendo Switch. They should take their winning formula and make it better for the 9th-gen. Also, the painful failure of the Wii U is still fresh in our memories.
I hope this doesn’t share the same fate as the Wii U with casual gamer confusion
I really do hope this means it's also backwards compatable
After 7 years of rumors we may now rest
The biggest question for me is the name. Calling it "Switch 2" seems the most reasonable thing to do, but Nintendo never did something as boring as that before. They probably are going to call it Switch "something" or another entirely new name. I doubt they will risk the Wii U situation again, though.
Super Switch is the way
I would love "Nintendo Switch Advance"
Plot twist! It's called Switch S. "S" for "Successor"
i remember when the NX was first talked about. Nintendo was glib about the details but they sold it to share holders as a completely new platform from Wii U. A "New Switch model" sounds like a super switch/switch pro that may be more of an upgrade than the next gen leap. It will probably be more in the vain of more than a ps4 pro but less than a ps5 jump kind of thing, especially if its backwards compatible.
Not everything has to be revolutionary. Just make it more powerful. Simple as that.
Spoken like one of the masses who lives a mediocre life and has not one creative bone in their body. Not wanting innovation is wanting the execution of creativity. More power doesn't equal more creativity. It is only adding more fuel to the fire that is the problem in gaming. Which is higher dev costs, so the game prices go up, we get less passion projects and less creativity and the people get dumber and dumber and dumber.
They definitely got something up their sleeves they aren’t revealing yet, I doubt it’s just more powerful.
@@ItApproachesyou mean like how Nintendo always being the one to revolutionize gaming?
@@8BitSkorPO They have indeed.
@@ItApproaches Perfect comment
I’m so excited I really hope it’s backwards compatible
If it’s a Switch 2 it for sure will.
I’m pretty sure the switch 2 would have to be backwards compatible. We all know Nintendo is sticking with cartridges, so I anticipate that the switch 2 games will run on the same style of cartridges that the switch 1 does.
@@ashfallen1If it plays 3DS and DS games then I’m sold, GBA too somehow
@@windykingdom6153I doubt it'll be backwards compatible with 3DS and DS titles hardware-wise, unless they'll open up another set of software backwards compatible titles for the online subscription, which is most likely the case.
@@EpsilonChurchRVB We shall see
No it has a new gimmick, we just don't know it yet. Recall the new button under the home button does something new and the new buttons on the back of the Joycons. Plus all the bells and whistles like the bicycle bell or horn that you can attach to it.
Now THIS is happenin’.!.!
Rumor: It's called the Switcheroo. It's like a Switch, but now BOTH joycons have a camera, and almost all games will use the cameras. Also, there will be 3 themes instead of two for the menu. Source: me.
Looks like they want some more time for the Nintendo Switch 2 to be present for the Nintendo Direct!
Either it’s actually a new console or will be something like the switch oled, but we have 3 variants of the switch which basically function the exact same.
That’s a valuable nugget of information, thanks!
The tweet said successor so expected not to stray too far from the original concept. I don’t think i ever expected it to deviate too far from whar we have now, but wouldn’t be shocked if there was a twist or two.
@ me when we get colored buttons
So it’s going to be like the equivalent to the GBA SP, DSI, New 3DS XL?
No, it's the next generation Switch.
No basically like the wiiu was to the wii or hopefully what will actually happen the wii was to the gamecube. That's what I got out of it.
More like DS to 3DS
No. Those are hardware revisions. This is a true sequel to the Switch, similar to how the Game Boy Advance was a sequel system to the Game Boy.
I wonder if from here til launch, it’s possible for the Switch 1 to break 150M units sold. After the 3DS launched, the DS still maintained a bit of momentum that gradually slowed down.
If everything falls into place, we might actually get 160M.
Nintendo's projection for FY2025 is 13.5 million. With current numbers, that would put it at 154.82 million by March 2025. Even with the expected drop in sales from a new system, it can easily beat PS2 by next June or September.
do you think it will finally output 4k?
The chip it is most likely going to use (Nvidia Tegra T239) is capable of those higher resolutions so yes. In fact that switch is too it’s just limited cause there’s no point. Switch is not powerful enough to run modern games higher than 1080p at a good framerate.
would love a fully TV model in adition to the portable one. ith more power so that people cn stop being at mad at the 300 portable console from 2017 being not powerful enouth.
Before March 2025? Huh, so they might push the reveal to next year, potentially. With a Christmas 2025 release.
I hope that Nintendo at least innovates with the software. I want StreetPass so bad. And a MiiVerse.
Makes sense, I expect NSO to carry over as well as full backwards compatibility
Sounds like Iwata took his console ambition with him.
As long as it's enough of a step up from the Switch in terms of power and performance, I'll be happy.
How about "Switch Advance" for the name?
This coming console will have multiple facets introduced during the entirety of its life cycle. They take care deliberating over many possible manifestations it could take to ensure mass appeal while keeping things fresh and in the news throughout. It also incorporates what has come before just more succinctly. All of which was achieved with initial switch. So in that respect it will be similar. But by no means will just be the same manifestation as of switch.
It’s like the GBC to GBA! (a successor, but still in the Game Boy family of models)
Or DSi to 3DS.
@@The360MlgNoscoper Exactly. Or GBA to DS. (a successor, but with a new name and touchscreen gimmick)
@@mattimusprimal637 Well it probably has the same general gimmick but upgraded.
@@The360MlgNoscoper There’s rumors/leaks saying it has an attachable 2nd screen à la DS; 3DS!
Honestly, a smart move, they know it works why change it drastically for people to get used to all over again
I’m kind of curious, but not too worried, about the fact that it might just have better graphics. Like, what if the menus and HUD and everything else are the exact same?
What are the odds it's literally called the switch 2 with just a better processing system, controllers (hopefully), and the 3ds like card slot
when you say 3ds-like, are you talking about how the cartridges were from 3ds to ds? Like how theres an edge at a side of the 3ds cartridge to avoid it being inserted into a ds, but instead it's with the Nintendo switch and its successor?
@@nabsi yes exactly that
@@autismrk8636 i hope for that too, and i really hope that this console is backwards compatible, i almost feel like it has to be..
The Switch 2 hype is now coursing through me.
The switch is a great console, making a better version of it just makes sense. No need to make something completely new when every likes what the switch does.
Even though the next series of a console doesnt sell as well as the first (3DS, Wii U) they usually have better games on those systems so that's exciting
If it's not Switch 2, I would've been fine with ending online service fees
You know if this really is just the switch but better I can see how they might release a switch 3 or switch 4 and so on and I think for the time being this is the right move but I do hope that eventually we will get to see something new.
Imagine the "Switch next model" is a switch oled XL
Hopefully, scalpers dont buy all the new consoles and sell it at such a high price. But im having a feeling they will.
Best news so far. Better be backward compatible, thats for sure.
I was kind of hoping for a "NEW" console not just a "Pro" version.
It is a new console, kinda like ds and 3ds, much more than a pro version
It's not really a "Pro", that one was scrapped. It's Like the 3DS or Wii U. Hopefully more like the 3DS is sales figure than the Wii U. Hopefully way more.
@@The360MlgNoscoper Gotcha
@@pedrogoncalves4585 Only time will tell.
It absolutely has to be something like the 3ds, a very big upgrade but a similar system non the less
Regardless of what it will be called, I want all the games have the option to use motion controls.
To be honest, this is good, the Switch is already perfect, just give it upgrades and backwards compatibility and it looks good to go!
I just hope it’s an upgrade and not a squeal like the dsi or 2DS
the 2Ds equivalent was literally just the switch lite
@@ridley2172but what if it’s like the “””New Nintendo 3ds”””
@@jerm-gv9rv True that is possible lmao I hope not
Let's see if the next generation is going to be a *"NES -> SNES"* OR a *"Wii -> Wii U"* moment for Nintendo. 😏
I'm ready for the Nintendo Switch 2
That means that it’s backwards compatible right? Awesome
Please Nintendo just name it Switch 2. I like the creative names in themselves but for marketing purposes it really needs to be clear what you're selling
i dont mind if its the same thing, my only hope is that it looks a bit different so you can seperate it from the switch
As cool as a Switch 2 is, I feel like it runs the risk of becoming another Wii U. I can't imagine all the casuals who bought and enjoyed the Switch feeling like they need to upgrade, especially if they're not that invested in gaming.
Just like the GBA, 3DS, and Wii U, it seems destined to do worse than the Switch, which was a NES/Gameboy/DS/Wii caliber phenomenon for Nintendo.
what else could it be 😭😭
I just want the smash amiibos to work with the next Smash Bros. I don't want to change them after I got them just the way I wanted them
My lonely left hand can't wait
When will the new system come up?
-James M
Well this is obvious the switch is the most successful console they’ve had in years why would they try to change it up. They just need to make it more powerful internally and externally and it’ll be a success. But the game lineup has to be great too. If they are able to make it like how they did with the gameboy line they’ll be successful. Not much has to be changed drastically
There's a rumor going around that it's gonna be called "Switch Attach". Theories that it might have 2 screens or a folding one like the flip phone. Idk if this is real, i just heard this and though i might share it.
No need to change much about Switch other than its power
Also fixing drift.
Yea, and a better menu
I want stuff like StreetPass, MiiVerse, VoiceChat, some funny gimmicks.
Better joycons as well
@@EliasSchnetzer Those will never come back. Voice chat might happen
Switch 2 is going to be packed with security
I don’t get it, is this a new model of the switch, or is this a brand new console?
It’s what the 3DS is to the DS.
All that I ever really wanted Nintendo to do was FIX what WAS actually broken about the Nintendo Switch (i.e. joycon drift, online infrastructure, etc) while bumping up the specs so that it can run modern games and I'd personally be very happy because if they continue to bring out great games at roughly the same speed as the Switch but also increase the specs a bit so that 3rd parties can continue to do the same AND also have the system be backwards compatible with the current Switch then it's a day 1 buy for me. People also give Sony a bunch of crap about some of their recent decisions but I personally love the hardware that they put out with the PS5 as the controller is great with the system being an easy day 1 upgrade over my PS4 that I was in dire need of getting rid of as the system was actually starting to die on me. I recently had to repair my OG Switch by replacing the fan and re-applying thermal paste to the SoC as it was also starting to die so for me that's always an indication that it's about time for an upgrade.
No interment required/Airplane mode and can be played without patch updates is a must for me. I want consoles to go back to being video game consoles and not trying to be an all-in-one device.
I mean the situation here is basically the 3ds to the ds imo. It should be called "Super Switch" lol
They need to name the switch successor the switch 2, we already know what happened when they named the wii successor the wii u
It's going to be like a game boy color. More features better graphics better CPU but "same" system
They got think somthing new for next console after this.
0:40 it looks like a GameCube controller, or maybe wii controller.
Maybe 🤔 but it sounds great update what’s coming.
I just want metroid prime 4
I may be wrong but it may be too late. Is developers gonna like this system is my question.
It's a good thing Nintendo is going to unveil Nintendo Switch's successor, but I think Nintendo would come up with a different name for the upcoming system than Nintendo Switch 2, I could be wrong though.
Even though there's this upcoming successor Nintendo gaming system, Nintendo still has yet to release Metroid Prime 4 on the Nintendo Switch that was revealed back at E3 2017. What's been going on with development on the game since it was revealed back then Nintendo? That game should have came out by now. And then there's Pokemon Legends Z-A coming to the Nintendo Switch as well.
It could end up like Breath of the Wild. Released on both last gen and next gen.
@@kwagz3314 Well I guess we'll wait and see whatever Nintendo announces about it, I guess.
Please just don't call it the Switch U.
I think a stronger version of the switch makes the most sence, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. If everyone expects them to go right, they go left. And they'll make that left turn in their own, wacky way.
They have 10 years of consumer data to improve - hoping Switch 2 is that step up. One important factor is the 10-year-old kids that first got a switch then, are 20 years old now, keep them in mind too cause they will be the first ones buying the console guaranteed.
Successor Means: a person or thing that succeeds another
Great news. Give me a powerfull switch 2 now!!!
It's going to have a gimmick
I'm going to assume it's going to be similar to the 3DS to New 3DS. Same hardware but with spec bumps. It'll probably be compatible with physical and digital games. The only incompatible thing would be the actual controllers which I presume will use hall effect analogs and have an actual d-pad this time.
