What an underrated gem. Most bands have a song about the loneliness of the road and impact on relationships, but most are sappy and lame. You can really hear the desperation and anger in Lou’s voice that really captures the feeling.
Lou Gramm had one of the greatest rock voices of all time..
Love seeing this video. I am a huge Lou Gramm, Foreigner with Lou Gramm, Black Sheep, and Shadow King fan. One of the greatest rock voices!!
100% agree and I'm glad you recognized his other bands besides Foreigner. 👍
Lou Gramm is a Rock God !!!
Yeah.... Webster NY and Wegmans and Chevy Novas rule.!!!!!
Only Lou Gramm is the true voice of Foreigner forever. The rest can be a tribute band
Exactly!! I feel the same way!!!!!!
Here, here 😅
Lou Gramm shined his best while performing with Foreigner although his first 2 Solo Albums were also great albums since he had already established himself with Foreigner. His last Solo Album 'The Lou Gramm Band' from 2009 is basically a Christian album. He did 2 Albums with Black Sheep I believe, 1 with Poor Heart + A Best of which mostly consisted of earlier recordings of Lou and then 1 with Shadow King. Overall though, a fantastic singer and I was glad to have seen him in concert in his heyday.
The amazing Lou Gramm. The best of all time.
Great find.....Love the video and FOREIGNER !!!!
What a voice.... Lou Gramm love you ❤
Lou could make any song a top 10 song with his awesome singing. He’s the best.
From Head Games...my fav Foreigner album!
R.I.P. to multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald who passed away on 02/ 09/2022 at the age of 75.
Other then Lou ,Ian the original backbone of Foreigner. F4 is a great album even though Ian or Al were not involved in the recording, but after 4 the band wasn’t the same.
@dan w According to Lous book "JUKE BOX HERO, my 5 decades in Rock n Roll," Ian and AL were let go in September 1980, and they actually were in the beginning stages of working on the 4 album . The problem was Ian and AL really wanted to get more songs 🎵 on Foreigner albums, but according to Lou speaking to John Beaudin on Rock History last August referring to his rejected song ideas by Mick 👉 Lou said "Mick was not the only person in that band who had talent, if Mick didn't write the song, he didn't want to be bothered with it" and as you know that led to Lous solo albums READY OR NOT and LONG HARD LOOK. Mick rejected Midnight Blue when Lou presented it to the band. Mick said "It wasn't a good song" Lou puts together a solo band , makes demos while Foreigner is on a 6 months hiatus in 1986. Well , February 1987 comes Midnight Blue hits the airwaves and charts at #5 on Billboard and was the most requested/listened to song 🎵 in America that year and guess who got pissed off and embarrassed? Yep, Mick Jones . He actually tried to get ATLANTIC RECORDS their label to not promote Lous album. But that failed . Lou still currently blames Mick for the plug being pulled on Shadow King and Lou is still mad about the royalty ratio crap Mick did on "I want to know what love is " These guys are still not friends. Foreigner was purely "business".
I have never scene this vid before! Great song!
Foreigner was an excellent rock band .. thanks to Lou Gramm's splendid voice !!! he is still considered as one of the best rock voices since 30 years .....
I loved the sound of Foreigner when they were six, the vocals were priceless
Still listening to Lou in November 2024
Could have easily been a top 10 hit. Great vocals on a underrated tune.
Lou Gramm is one of the greatest voices in rock and roll. Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, Steve Perry, Lou Gramm- They just don't make them great like these anymore.
+ Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow)
This song hits on every genre popular at the time...hard rock dance rock and even new wave...they could do it all
Well it's March 8th 2024 at 9:00 a.m. and I'm just hearing this song for the first time, where have I been? Anyway pretty good song I have a love on the telephone long distance relationship with somebody I have known since 1978 Foreigner with Lou gramm kick ass!❤❤❤
Lou Gramm had one of the greatest voices in rock and roll.
You mean still has one of the greatest voices in Rock History. Lou is still alive and came out of retirement in 2021 to prove he's still got it.
@@waltersimmons946 You said it Walter! He's just been on a rock cruise, and those who were there said he was singing so brilliantly.
@Corinne Duhig Thank you, Corinne, for the update on Lou. It's ironic that Foreigner is "retiring" while Lou keeps on keeping on. I love it because Lou is Foreigner, so we're not beat out of nothing.
@@waltersimmons946 In April, Grant's Rock Warehouse will be running a discussion about the Shadow King album. Not be be missed! I don't see you in the Facebook fan club, but your kind of knowledge and dedication to Lou would be most welcome there (we are not ALL women doing hearts-and-flowers comments to pictures of Lou 😃).
@@waltersimmons946 I do worry that Lou is wearing himself out, because he had looked a bit frail in recent videos. But in the latest videos, from the rock cruise, he looks very well and the interview at that time shows him to have plans for the future - Atlantic Records are on board with him releasing the left-over tracks from Ready or Not and Long, Hard Look!
A classic song!!! Foreigner, likewise many other rockn' roll bands, needs to be in the RNRHOF!!!!!
I REALLY don't understand WHY they aren't in and haven't been put in a LONG TIME AGO ALREADY!!! It makes me ANGRY!! Probably the Leftists hating "Dirty White Boy" or something insane like that!
Как же он хорош этот Иностранец Лу! Неповторимый! Из России с любовью 🔥🤘💓
Best voice,Headgames one of the best albums ever made. You can slap this in and just let it play.Lou Gramm will never get his just due for having the best voice in rock as voted by his peers,by the way
Fantastique lou
Sempre LOU GRAMM sempre ✨👑✨🇧🇷🤗💓
Blinded by Science is another gem off Head Games.
It wasn't just his voice it was the passionate way he used it oh yeah it doesn't hurt that he had a great band to sing with !
Lou Gramm was the coolest dudes in rock music history and now he's almost 70 years old
LOVE FOREIGNER-there will never be another voice like Lou Gramm!!
This song is really, really great. I love it.
Uma música com muita adrenalina no som e na voz contagiante do Lou Gram e dos músicos. Ele é invencível e inesquecível.
I have no idea what you said, but I'll bet you look beautiful saying it.
God bless Ian McDonald! Thanks for your music and energy! Carry on!!!
FOREIGNER WERE MAJESTIC!! MICK JONES PLAYING AND SONG WRITING (ALONG WITH LOU) AND LOU GRAM"S VOCALS MADE THEM HAUNTING EMOTIONAL AND THRUSTING! LOL> Yes I said THRUSTING! MAN'S ROCK! Which women dreamed of.
Looks so good to me!!😍❤️
Love Lou ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Absolute Genius' Top Ten Bands of All Time
Wow, I never knew a video existed for this song until today. Great album, I was 11 when I came out in 79.
Mike, this is Top of the Pop, a Dutch TV show. They are so great because they did music video before MTV was a music channel. We can be thankful for their legacy.
@@KOttoTV This is actually from the archives of TopPop, a Dutch show.
@@Enevan1968 Thanks.
I was 16. Loved this song
One of my favorite bands. I think as far as true rock albums, Lou was correct to be dissatisfied with the direction the band took. The spiraled into a soft rock top 40 pop band. Lou stated he wanted to play rock. Mick was limited as far as leads on guitar
I listen to this song every day and love it and Lou’s voice.
These pop TV shows all required the artists to lip sync to the recorded tracks. This was no different. Ian McDonald felt that "Head Games" was rushed into release by their label. Where they used to have a month or two to clean up their songs and their mix, Head Games only had a few weeks. Hence the reduction in the group count to "speed up" the creativity for "4".
Wonderful!!! Love you Lou Gramm♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Anyone guess what that sound at the beginning represents?
Lindo ❤️ q saudade ❤️🙌🇧🇷
I wish I could find an actual live performance of this song. I saw them perform it once in '82, but it's never been a regular element in their set.
Still, this is an awesome tune. Just like Lou Gramm, definitely underrated. My favorite cut on this album by my favorite band.
Gramm/Jones unmatched as a songwriting collaboration, also.
There are live concerts of Lou singing LOVE ON THE TELEPHONE. You'll have to go on RUMBLE to find which concerts were in 1979-80. I heard it live a while back. The classic concerts do exist.
One of my favorites B songs from this great band! Lou's voice at his prime best. Had the privilege to see them live in concert back in the 80's at Seattle's Colisseum and then in the late 2000 in Mexico City with Lou barely singing. Foreigner is tied to my musical memories from my youth, from 78 to 85 along with other great bands of thar era...
Lou incrível, voz maravilhosa jamais haverá outro igual.
My childhood song.. always been very underrated but not by me!
amazing
Love Lou Gramm and this song.
He still is
KING OF THE MIC,HE SINGS BETTER IN THE SHOWER THAN HIS PEERS DO,LOL,long live the king,IMO

Last appearance by Ian McDonald in a Foreigner video. ☹️
Not quite Foreigner also has videos for the songs WOMEN , DIRTY WHITE BOY AND HEAD GAMES the title Track. Ian McDonald is in all 3 videos. All 3 songs were singles except "Love on the telephone " ☎️
