I love how one second he complains about Opal's training and the next he's fully embracing her teachings. He hates that he loves this.

The funny thing is that Opal really likes people like Bede especially since he wore lots of pink, so im sure she knew how to really get him more interested to be a gym leader
He was always a tsundere punk, he probably enjoys Opal's nagging and care for him. She's his new parental figure.
@@Darktree6621 He wanted to make the chairman happy because he felt some form of belief in him from the chairman. However, Opal became a person who truly believed in him as a successor, but he was too embarrassed to show it.

They were In my opinion two sides of the same coin. Hell even their Gaimax pokemon reflex this with the only difference being Bede had his from the start and Marnie didn't use her's until the end.
i know people are basically making fun of bede for being "girly" and roped into a foofy prissy fairy type gym, but.....fairy types are essentially dragon slayers. thats kinda badass.

Not to mention a male fairy type specialist was missing from the series I honestly thought it would take longer for one to appear but I am glad that Gen 8 fixed the problem of Fairy type specialists being female only.

When he was first shown in the trailers I feared that Bede was going to be an overly edgy character and nothing else, I'm so glad that he turned out to be such a fun and charming character/rival.
I am also very glad he turned out this way, overly edgy rivals are nothing but annoying, even more so than friendly ones, one of the reasons I am extremely picky when it comes to Pokémon romhacks, 80% of them have only edgy rivals with 0 character development!

Bede should have had his final theme be a remix of his theme and the gym leader theme. It would have been fitting since he isnt technically a final contestant but a future gym leader

Bede is enough for me to justify there being THREE psychic/fairy types in the game. Definitely fitting.

It is because he started out as a psychic type user so he is using as many psychic fairy type Pokémon as possible because he still wants to use psychic type Pokémon or forget his roots but can only use three since that is all the available psychic fairy Pokémon and Kantoian Mr. Mime doesn’t even live in Galar and luckily for him his signature Pokémon (the one Rose presumably gave him) gains the Fairy type when it evolves into Hatterene

It’s funny how Bede ends up with Fairy Pokémon but most of them are Fairy/Psychic so he is still in touch to the original type he used to battle with.
Just asking this, but is Bede the first left-handed trainer we have seen? All the other trainers we have seen wore their gloves and Dynamax Bands on their right hands and wrists, But Bede's glove and Dynamax Band is on his left hand and wrist.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just found out Allister is also Left-handed.

Bede is kinda breaking the gender roles here and I love it!
Bede's whole character arc is just ironic. The "douchebag" tough-guy rival turned out to be the most feminine character in the game.
I really loved this battle. It was awesome to battle Bede again, but also to see that he's growing up and finding a new purpose in life. He really redeemed himself. Also seeing Hatterene gigantamax was so awesome. Had no idea it could. From my team I used Choochoo (my Beartic), Wobble (my Intelleon), and Punka (my Obstagoon) to defeat him and his Pokemon!! :)
I actually knew he was gonna be there, so I brought my best Steel types and my poison type.. Spiky the Ferroseed, Viking the Perrserker, and Roxie the Toxtricity! :D

It's funny how in the beginning, Bede was using just Psychic-type Pokémon and eventually when everything else happened later with Opal, his Pokémon embraced with the dual type. It's like they evolved with him in such a cute way.

Bro, Bede is literally the Frieza of Pokemon Sword/ Shield. He literally goes from a arrogant kid collecting these Wishing Stars for the chairman, and goes to far and gets disqualified. Then he goes through hell and back from the Fairy-Type gym leader and comes back a new person who starts over.
With Frieza, the Wishing Stars can be related to the Dragon Balls. The chairman disqualifying Bede could be Goku killing Frieza off. Bede going through "hell and back" is literally Frieza staying in Hell for so many years. Then he gets brought back to Earth by Goku in Dragon Ball Super, and joins the fight for the Tournament of Power, coming back a new person after being officially revived, and going back to gathering his army and trying to rule the universe. This can be related to Bede, after coming back to fight the protagonist and losing, deciding to "start over" his career as a trainer after all the attention from the audience.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds pretty accurate.

LuckySan I honestly think the game opposite legend was the worst Pokémon to add to Hop's team, because in game trainers aren't supposed to use Legendaries.

If u think about it bede was an orphan before rose took him in, he could originally be from unova, since his family ran into violence or something, and he has two Unova pokemon before becoming the fairy type gym leader, and his theme is a remixed version of the pwt finals theme, and his encounter theme sounds like some American rouge gang theme I can see why he didn't get a final battle theme like hop and Marnie its honestly genius
I remember whatching this scene, completely surprised.
I totally humillated him by spaming Pyro Ball without getting hit.
Bede is honestly one of my favorite rivals from all my playthroughs

Ok if sword and shield got a sequel like how black and white did here are some things I want to see.
-Have hop help out Sonia as her assistant similar to Bianca and Juniper
-Bring back the national dex and improve the graphics
-Have Marnie and Bede still be Gym leaders
-Make Klara and Avery version exclusive gym leaders(Klara in sword and Avery in shield)
-Make the crown tundra and isle of armour areas in the main game so it’s part of the story
-make new legendaries that still make sense to Galars lore since the 3 main ones being Zacian,Zamezenta and Erternatus were caught by the player and Hop
-If you have sword or shield data on your switch make it so that you can battle your self with the team that was saved since your last save
-And lastley for the love of god make a new champion that doesn’t rub in that they are unbeatable every time you meet them and make there ace Pokémon a galar Pokémon.
Feel free to add any ideas that could be in sword and shield 2 if it were to happen!

Gou, the coprotagonist of Pocket Monsters also makes you think if he a boy or a girl, the eyelashes tbh, and he has scorbunny as his partner!

It's kinda sad that he didn't get a final battle theme. All the other rivals got such epic final battle themes and he only got his normal theme. It's still good but it would be even better with a crowd cheering
I didn't Dynamax in this fight (mostly because I was too into it), but I gotta hand it to him. He really grew. Beat up half my team.

I opened with a Lv.60ish Seismitoad, but his services weren't necessary. My Corviknight decimated Bede's team; his Mawile called upon actually bringing in Cinderace to finish it off.
Bede is actually much scarier as a Fairy-user than a general Psychic-user. While his matchup was no match for mine, had GameFreak given his pokemon better move coverage and a better AI script, he could've been a much more dangerous opponent. Had his Hatterene been built as a proper cleric, and the AI script utilized it, for instance, it would've been a good wake-up call for all the kiddos who got to end game on brute force alone.
What's scarier about Bede is he's clearly been at least half brainwashed by Opal. That being said, the pink eyeshadow somehow works on him, so my overall verdict is that his time with Opal had a net positive improvement on basically all aspects of his character.

On one hand, I feel that fairy types don't suit Bede's twirpy arrogant personality.
On another, it's kinda hilarious that to "redeem" himself and compete, he has to wear pink and take on fairy Pokemon. And as previously mentioned, fairy are badass

I really like this development, but I'm extremely concerned about him just switching his entire goddamn team. Like... It just feels wrong for that to happen in a pokemon game, y'know?
