My favorite niche easter egg is in Deus Ex: Human Revolution where you find an e-mail at Rifleman Bank Station that references a joke from MASH about requisitioning a pizza oven by just crossing out "machine gun" on a form and writing in "pizza oven."
Love your profile pic. (Yes, I actually know what it is and means)
@@recurvess9569 I don't, enlighten me?
@@tretretre1111 we will never know
@@tretretre1111 I did some quick and dirty googling and it's the Libertarian Party's animal, a porcupine. The Republicans and Democrats (for any non-US readers) have their own party animals/mascots-Republicans have the elephant, and Democrats have the donkey.
@artin595 Iconography of the Libertarian Party in the US.
Oh man! That "Smack my bishop, smack my bishop" song had me in tears 😂. The way it's sung and that NPC doing the dance on the right, just had me gasping for air. So ridiculous.
Breathe with me ;)
That might be the best easter egg I've ever come across
"You're a firestarter" 😂
I've been burnt out on Ubisoft collect-a-thons and DLC fests and "Ultimate Editions" that still have paid walled off content... the damn I really want to play any game with Kieth Flint... guess i'll just have to watch the Venture Bros again
I literally applauded to my empty room, LOL! Now I really want to play this, just to reach that easter egg, :)
Gonna' be honest, I ROFLed at "Smack my Bishop" and "You're a Firestarter!"
That easter egg ALONE is making me reconsider playing the game again
It’s by far the sweetest Easter egg on here, as well as being hilarious.
I've not played Valhalla, but honestly I want to hear the entire song rewritten about violence against the clergy instead of domestic violence.
😂😂😂 smack my bishop
Andy: “The DK Rap is terrible.”
Me: “Them’s fighting words!”
He's British, what would they know about taste?
Haha I remember grant kirkhope posting something about the rap recently on twitter
Also that rap was awesome there was a two year period i was obsessed with that game, still have the guidebook and still need to beat k rool…only taken me 20 years
They may be fighting words, but he is armed with a nuclear missile, whilst you are armed with an overcooked noodle.
@@kaizer712 I was just eating cold chicken so I can’t defend myself
@@Ooffoop please tell me the chicken was cooked at one point before you ate it cold
I want it understood, in no uncertain terms, that the DK rap is a straight up banger, and all the homies know this.
Andy. This disrespect, in light of all the work you've done, the entertainment you provide, and the reprieve from the insanity of reality, can be forgiven. Just this once.
🤣
What are your thoughts on One-Winged Kong?
@@aidancox5481 am I to understand there exists some sort of mash-up, between the DK rap, and Sephiroth's theme??
Pfft ROTFLMFAO the dk rap is dumb & childish, not a banger 😂🤣😂
@@drizztdourden666 Its dumb and childish and a banger, there is a large overlap between the too.
@oftenspanx don’t act entitled🙄😑🤦♂️
Not pictured in the outro is Ellen, just off camera, pointing a gun at Andy while she forces him to apologise to Grant Kirkhope
A gun, presumably, loaded with ammunition from the despicable horror only referred to by the bravest survivors as 'The Egg Room"
@@rasmusn.e.m1064 Nah, it's a coconut gun that fires in spurts :D
Edit: we dare not speak of "The Egg Room"
@@natefessler3961 If [s]he shoots ya, it's gonna hurt!
As well as insult the DK Rap too :P
I will say without shame that the DK Rap is a vital part of my childhood and I can still recite it by heart to this day.
Take it to the fridge!
Peanuts walnuts pineapple smells grapes melins oranges and coconut shells

"Smack my bishop"...that one caught me totally off guard XD
And the “YOU are a fire starter!” Bit got me
Animal Crossing also has 2 more creepy elements: the graveyard wallpaper has a moving ghost, and the combination of the Candles wall and the Magic Circle flooring has a fun, spooky effect as well!
Not to mention that some of the fake art is also haunted.
(I need to set up my house as a haunted house sometime)
Which animal crossing has that? I have city folk
@@whitemage34 New Horizons!
@@MichellePondueCruz oh
@@whitemage34 Sorry, but yeah, it's New Horizons. (The only one I've played, actually)
You can find Raz's skeleton in Alice: Madness Returns. It's meant to imply that her mind is so broken, not even a master Psychonaut could navigate it safely.
Now there's a crossover!
The DK rap is still a masterpiece to this day, you are wrong Andy
Still better than Tekashi.
We still sing it to this day…
Ya, gotta disagree with Andy on this one.
Yeah, it's bad. That's what makes it good!
@coolmanoscar Pfft ROTFLMFAO you obviously don’t know what masterpiece means & you have childish/simple/lame tastes, those raps suck(the only rap that are masterpieces are the ones from real rappers)these are facts.
@@drizztdourden666 I assume you're either a troll or sarcastic but masterpiece in the above context is a hyperbole for "very good, and meaningful to many". It doesn't match the literal meaning of masterpiece because it's not literal.
Another favorite of mine is from The Stanley Parable. During one of the ads for the game, a person going by the name Raphael criticized the demo, saying that it's all preplanned, has no soul and that it says Stanley's name too much, all in the most pompous and self-absorbed way possible. Not only does Kevan Brighting as the Narrator scathingly mock him in the ad, if you open up the console commands and type in Raphael in the main game, the Narrator does nothing but say Stanley in every overdramatic way possible.
Octavian's house in ACNH is full of space stuff and in the middle is that same space ship and the alien comes out from time to time. He's basically harboring it and sometimes also tries to deny the existence of aliens in a letter he's written to you (can't remember if he also does this while talking to him).
I just recruited him to my island! 😲 I gotta check it out!
My favourite niche easter egg is developers giving an NPC the name of a reviewer that gave them a bad review, and the only item in the NPC's inventory being hemorrhoid cream. I haven't been able to track this down since, but I think the game was Watchdogs 2, and I found out about this in an E3 stream. Can anyone else corroborate this or is it just in my head?
I think they did one on this channel not sure
Ubi-games tend to do this, especially in the Far cry and watchdogs games. FC5 got several stings to critics, devs etc.
But why does the reviewer have the hemorrhoid cream when the developers were clearly the ones butthurt by the exchange 🤔
@@Z2Wolf very witty
The only one I can currently access is Scorpia. She was a game reviewer that wrote up a rather scathing piece against Might and Magic II: Gates to Another World; in exchange, the game designer popped her (or, in actuality, a creature named after her, as nobody knew what she looked like) into Might and Magic III.
I remember sitting in front of my N64 just to sing along the DK rap... Multiple times :b
cause you have taste unlike andy, andy sucks, andy, andy really sucks!
It's not really related, but the mention of DK rap reminded me of the fanmade 2018 version. The version where, unfortunately, Chunky's dead.
RIP Chunky
Your flow rhymes till this day.
"Then there's Chunky! He's dead."
"DK! Chunky's dead!"
The Smack my bishop thing was one of my favorite easter eggs ever. That was just amazing😂
I had Jesse in the janitor outfit during the dlc and as soon as I got the ears, I knew she'd never wear any other outfit.
I loved the Keith Flint Easter Egg. The accent, the hairstyle AND the references to some of my favorite songs, I absolutely enjoyed that.
Was certain when Andy mentioned creepy things in animal crossing, he was going to us the egg room as his example.
Doesn't Ellen egg room count as an weird easter egg?
I mean it came out of nowhere, and was creepy as an serial killer
Here's hoping that one shows up in the commentor edition of this topic
I mean, it's technically a perfect example of a weird easter egg XD
The person has a point
That's more *defies* explaining than *takes*
What is this egg room I keep hearing about, is their a video about it? Is it a clip from this channel? If so which video I’m generally curious. Even though I have been warned
After the "Punch the Priest!" and "Clout the Cleric!" it took me a second to realize the rude pun in "Smack my Bishop!" O_O"
Care to explain?
@@Crobat7269 smack my bishop = smack my b**** up
@@timhutchinson8485 ah thanks, i guess im more innocent then i thought
I LOVED the DK rap and would sing along each time with it when I booted it up
Calling the DK Rap terrible might just be a worse offense than the time Jordan Peele called Space Jam bad.
Both are equally punishable by 100 smacks with a wet noodle.
andy sorry, but we need to sk1n you al1v3..........it's in the "the dk rap is great f you" rules.
Great, now I'm hungry and I want a wet noodle.
The DK rap is unironically great and I'll stand by that
I stand with you. I'll still sing it to myself, word for word.
I will stand alongside you. That song is a masterpiece.
I stand proudly with my brethren and sist...ren? and will gladly die on that hill with you.
Ive never known anyone that didn't like it. He talks like its a well known fact.
The person who wrote the line "music is the devil's wind breaking" deserves a raise 😂😂😂
Possibly a Blackadder reference?
There are also octopus villagers, and regular octopi you can fish out of the sea. Also, have you ever made a vacation home for Tipper? One of her required items is... uh... kind of disturbing for a cow to want.
You can "shop" for clients by walking by them on the beach while wearing your work clothes. Lionel's blurb was "You can never have too many toilets when company is over," which is alarming on multiple levels
The existence of sentient animals and non-sentient animals existing in the same world can always be explained by the existence in our real world of apes and humans at the same time. There are similarities, sometimes strikingly so, and an alien species might think us to be the same things. Both evolved from a common ancestor, but we evolved sentience, while apes did not. As for sentient animals consuming non-sentient animals, there are several parts of the world where apes and other primates are a common food source. It's really not that weird if you think about it.
No, YOU'VE thought too much about this.
….. I’d heard of the Psychonauts 2 Easter egg but that was my first time seeing it. I have too many questions and don’t want the answers.
The answers might just boil down to "because it's weird".
You know that there's a cosmic law that if you speak in any way something like a third iteration of the DK rap, it has to come into existence.
You can tell it was Mike doing the Fallout 3 footage. Because he opened the door into his own face as usual
Hey! The DK Rap is one of the greatest pieces of video game music in history!
There's a joke that Animal Crossing tells when you catch a frog about how it might be a new villager.
It's not that big a deal. There's a diagram of different kinds of animal evolution on the wall of the museum.
Did Andy just call the DK Rap a "Terrible Rap song" That is IT Andy, that's the last straw. I'm throwing the gloves down
He's right though.
I for one LOVE the DK Rap and all of it's remixes.XD
Mass Effect Andromeda there's a reference to Grog Strongjaw from Critical Role's first campaign in the form of the Krogen "Strogjaw Grog" in The Flophouse on Elaaden. not "weird" per-say but definitely out of the blue and caught me completely off guard when I was playing.
Hello fellow critter! That's super cool, even though I don't play Mass Effect games.
@@tdgransit9091 Bidet fellow critter!
@@krimzonknight bidet to you
Guild Wars 2 has SEVERAL Easter Eggs for Critical Role, since many of the cast were main voices in the game. I definitely recommend either seeking them out or checking out the GW2 wiki.
Grog was my favorite, so this makes me insanely happy. Bidet to you all
Andy only apologized to Grant Kirkhope because Ellen would break his knees if he didn't.
The tribute to Keith was amazing and one of my favourite side moments in Valhalla, such a great moment!
That Keith easter egg was friggin awesome, blew my mind when I heard all that
SMACK MY BISHOP
SMACK MY BISHOP
"and opens with a terrible rap song" Um, mega citation needed
I love Luke's casual inclusion of his beloved PUP shirt in the AC capture
1:55 “Pen.. Ward.. you see?”
“Yes.. I think I do see, Mike Channell!”
*Raising back the microphone in my hand while staring directly at the open OutsideXbox Channel tab*
I'm guessing you didn't want to have two from one franchise, but FFXV being in Assassins Creed Origins was weird enough, but then you get given a Chocobo as a mount, which was just bizarre.
“Submitted now, for you’re approval”? Is Andy still trying to join the Midnight Society?
He will only stop trying when he finally succeeds.
At this point, I think Andy IS the Midnight Society.
One of my friends was friends with someone who was friends with the lead guitarist from Prodigy, and she got to meet him once at a dinner party. She was off in the kitchen, then burst in the living room shouting "I'm a potato peeler, twisted potato peeler, woooo, ay ay ay"
He wasn't impressed 😂
When they were talking about weird easter-eggs and Animal Crossing turned up I immediately assumed they were going to talk about Ellen's egg-room again.
Not sure if it counts as weird, but in the Discworld adventure game there was apparently a way to make Rincewind say "I want to be the first person to say f$*k in a video game!" I can't confirm it as I never figured out how to do it, but I do know for sure that in the sequel you could make Rincewind travel back to the first game and argue with his previous self about which of them was going to be the first person to say f$*k in a video game.
I found the Prodigy side quest after already having been on a magic mushroom trip and, in another quest, spoken to a cow god. So I didn't really clock what was going on as being odd until I was being encouraged to 'smack the bishop' by a musician called Keith. I had to put the controller down until I could breathe again.
10:10 I disagree! There is also Egg Room...

What about the Zelda: Breath of the Wild tributes to Robin Williams and Satoru Iwata?
Just rewatched "7 jokes we didn't get until much much later" and Andy is wearing the exact same outfit three years apart
it's an Easter egg
That Prodigy easteregg was so awesome to encounter in the game..
I almost immediately made the connection with the haircut of the NPC and the fact he was called Keith...Loved the tribute
RIP legend.
Alice Madness Returns: Apparently you find Raz's remains at some point. Yes, that Raz. I don't know if that was meant to be mean-spirited or a nice little nod, but it sure is something.
I'm reminded of how a lot of Easter Eggs in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 were messages from the development team without context. I remember one of them was one dev calling one of the other ones a "doodoo head" or something silly like that.
Enopu Mushroom in Bravely Second.
The Prodigy easter egg certainly went over my head at the time, but it honestly didn't seem weird in the world of AC Valhalla
Smack my bishop! Smack my bishop!
I couldn't stop laughing. I nearly forgot about that song, until now.
Some weird Easter eggs are just about any off map thing in Red Dead Redemption 2 but one that passes as an “Easter Egg” is when you can find references and a portrait of death, the same death that you can meet in Red Dead Redemption 1.
What about the Old World Blues DLC from Fallout New Vegas?
No literally, just that whole thing.
Easter Eggs are secret

During Monsoon’s monologue in Revengeance, you can look around in first person and see a soldier to the side playing with a stray cat that just wanders up to him.
So many in Valhalla that are specifically British , had to explain the FENTON FENTON Easter egg to many of my American friends
There are chimps in real life, I'm not sure why the frogs in animal crossing worry Andy. It's basically the same relationship, theoretically
The Evil Within has a lot of weird Easter eggs I could list, but in the Original's DLC 'The Consequence', if you push a vending machine in the office building 15 times, a poster will fall over, revealing a peephole of which the contents must be seen to be believed as the monster that has been harassing you has a Rave.
Did he really diss the DK Rap? That song is timeless.
6:39 Lanky Kong actually released a react video for this rap, and his relationship with the Kongs took a huge toll when he saw the slander against him on the livestream.
Also Lanky works in IT.
The DK rap is awesome and you will never change my mind!!!
I would still like to see a "7 hardest/annoying true ending requirements" lost
What about the Old World Blues DLC from Fallout New Vegas? U have a tiny but deadly deathclaw guarding a house as well as a poker table full of dogs seemingly playing poker
Oh man, Valhalla was just so stuffed with easter eggs and references. My favourite was the Trogdor one.
The man?
@@KimuMiyamoto The tattoo design notes you can find in the hut in Ravensthorpe.
Keith Flint's journey to frontman of The Prodigy is a pretty unique and cool one. He started out as just a huge fan of Liam Howlett as a DJ, then became Liam's friend and convinced him to start putting out his own music, went on to become sort of dancer for the band along with a couple other friends, then hypeman before they'd come out, the band never had lyrics and one day he goes "hey uh.... you mind if I try writing some lyrics to this song and see how it goes?" Boom. That song was Firestarter and it went over big.
The Prodigy one was the best and would have been completely lost on those unfamiliar with band. The segment got a chuckle out of me for sure
Woah woah woah the DK rap is beyond fantastic
Whoever came up with the "Smack my Bishop" idea deserves all the praise in the world
4:20 missed opportunity of Andy wearing cat ears
I remember the DK rap more for how it took over the jungle stage when you fought Donkey Kong in Melee than DK Country 64. Probably because I played the former regularly and only played the latter once when I borrowed it from the local video rental store. Didn't enjoy the game as much as I did Mario 64 or OoT, so it never got purchased. Did enjoy original Smash Bros., but never was able to get a copy of it. Then Melee came out and I snapped it up.
Naughty Dog like to put in odd collectibles as Easter Eggs to some of their other games, such as the Skeleseer skull from TLOU: Left Behind appearing in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy if you can find it (and it still works as an 8-ball too if you rotate it)
As a Prodigy fan, the Keith Flint one has made my day. Best gaming easter egg ever.
The DK Rap is a classic Andy.
HEY!!!That DK rap was the best!!
Okay, that Valhalla easter egg cracked me up good :D I will never not hear "Smack my bishop" from now on

that Keith Flint tribute was actually really clever and very sweet
I haven't seen it in-game, but the baby in a shower cap is obviously Dr. Loboto, not that it makes any more sense.
AC Valhalla also has another side-quest that sees a man running and calling after his wayward pet “Fenton”!
Jesus Christ.
The DK Rap effing slaps and I will fight you.
