advanced casual here. yeah, this is fine for me. i'm old, can't play enough to build long-combo muscle-memory, and prefer to play like old sfs without drive-rush anyway. i don't really want a playstyle that starts from jabs or raw drive rush like everyone else. often enough it means that my offense starts only after finding the gaps in the enemy offense or from oki, but that all feels like it fits into a playstyle of getting into the enemy head, except from a defensive perspective instead of strictly offensive. i enjoy learning gaps and how to defend well more than i enjoy learning long combos, i lose the latter too easily if i get too busy to play, but i retain my ability to defend. close-in cross-up jumps are probably the hardest to deal with, pulling off the callout neutraljump headbutt-borcht is a little beyond my reflexes to make into a threat. i'm having a BALL with the akuma release though, they're so deliciously predictable and squishy. i'm no youtuber, and only middling mmr, but in about an hour i'm throwing up a video of my lol moments chewing them up. =)
So much crying, because he got a little tweaking here and there Jesus! I would want them to actually say fuck it and make him top tier, even for just a season, just to see people have a mental breakdown and sh*t themselves!
Im a Honda player, and this has always been a torture matchup, so my complaining is fully justified. But god almighty if all the top tier spammers crying about gief is hilarious.
@@Toneyabc Pre-buff Master matchup win rates say you're right that Manon has the advantage (Gief has a 47% win rate), but it's nothing compared to the Dhalsim matchup (a 36.6% win rate). Numbers are from April though.
IMO, Zangief needs feint moves since his slowless is so reactable. Imagine if he could fake a RBG or a charged stHP and make the opponents react to something fake 😂 edit: Or something with altered strike speed (sort of like slow/medium/fast fireballs with shotos) to throw off parry timing. Y'know? Something like, light, medium and hard punch green hand 😂

Yeah I dont know what pro players are smoking. This dude needs a lot of reading done to actually get anywhere with about half the cast. for a character that is considered "top one" by some of them, he has some serious match up problems. You'd think a top tier would at least have more than like two or three good match ups while the rest are either slightly even or straight up bad.
Gief needs to deal with random DI all the time and now even wake up Drive reversal to characters have no OD DP before, almost no frame trap with any usable medium strike combos make Gief still heavily rely on headbutt hit and SPD gambling, an inconsistent character, missing tools, have extreme disadvantageous matchups will never become a top tier in Street Fighter.
That's not really a problem because A) both random DI and DReversal are very risky guess against Gief since punish counter OD SPD does 40% and nobody can really counter a blocked DReversal with that much damage (most can only punish you for 30-33%) and B) a well spaced Knee Hammer is basically a medium headbutt, and most light string Gief has auto spaced it for you. So both of that problem is solved, and the real problem he has is that he has some shit MU. But then......so does Guile (dude fucking hates armor), Cammy (She fucking hates Grapplers), Juri (Fireballs are her bane) and they are considered strong in S1 because most of their bane aren't popular enough to impact them. And Gief seemingly are in this position.
noone walks in this game, they all neutral skip with drive rush or advancing + on block special moves. You have to reconsider what's braindead if that's your take.
