I was at his concert at Lisbon that year... Sur le fil wasn´t interpretated so well has here but the spirit was totally there... Everybody was astonished, no breaths, no coughs, no nothing.... Lovelly Magic Moment
Thank God for the movie Amelie because I would have never discovered this guy's music and amazing talents. Seriously, I think a tear just rolled off my face and onto the keyboard. It's like the most painful happiness I've ever heard.
I hope this video of this performance lives on because I have watched other videos of him performing this song live and none of them compare to the raw emotion he put into this performance. He was truly feeling this and in other performances it seem's he is just playing it.
I am putty in this man's hands. His playing is so intense, it gives me chills. You can tell that he FEELS the music he plays, and that is such a rare thing in a musician these days. Great camera work and sound for a home recording at a live performance.
That's the reason why his music is so genious- he shows his feelings with it! He lets himself be in this music, this is his way to communicate with the world! You cannot see it here, but look at his face in the other vids, you'll see, that his music is part of his soul!
Oh my God! I spent months looking for this video! For god's sake I wont loose you again, I totally forgot his name, the song's name and even the way he looked, All I remember was that he broke something! My goodness I'm so happy! Amazing song,
He didnt become a Yann Tiersen for nothing :) makes my spine tingle every time i listen to it. no matter how frustrated i might get, this becomes my medicine.
WoW!!! I think Mr. Yann Tiersen Can't seam to find a violin that can live up to the greatness of his playing ability lol He almost made me cry when I first saw him play(not this Vid) I really think he's amazing! My brother is learning some of his works not as good as Yann's but they're still awesome!!!
i lost a string on my cello when i played like that...it was fun though, what counts is the sound. Strings and bow can be replaced...life forward, understand backwards. ;) - I am happy, he didn't lose his strings or even bridge, it's on the edge, I guess ;)
Poor Yann. I saw him in concert a month ago and he looked really beat. I mean, compared to how he looks in this 06 concert. Maybe he was devastated when his mother died and got really stressed out... Or he could be ageing. Either way, I still feel bad for the guy...
@broodm Olafur Arnalds has beautiful pieces with violin. in fact if you're going for similar, his piece "3326" is basically 80% similar to Sur Le Fil, lol.

i go to sleep to this song every night annd it never, ever gets dull. this man is incredible!

Sur Le Fil truely one of Yann Tiersen's many examples of musical mastery, The only person whom can make a violin sound like this.

excuse me, but if this tremendous song doesn't worth cutting some bow strings, then, really, which one does?
Absolut Respect to Yann Tiersen!
