Thanks for the great video. I just bought the blue version a couple weeks ago and I'm blown away.
I was impressed how Omega made a pretty substantial and chunky watch so wearable. I don't have such small wrists, but still, for a 42 with that big a bezel and an also not very subtle bracelet (and not even mentioning the helium valve), it feels just perfect on wrist. Even my wife was astounded when she tried it on.
It seems to me that all the little details, such as the wave pattern, the applied indices, the partly polished mid-links in the bracelet and everyting that's going on on that dial it just detracts from the size of the watch, making it look much more delicate than it actually is.
Or long story short: if you buy a Submariner instead of this watch, you either just like the Rolex look more or you need that Rolex brand name. There simply is no other reason to prefer the Submariner to this anymore.

Although the white dial version is really nice, I absolutely love my black dial SMP 300m. The way the sunlight hits the dial makes it look stunning and I fall in love with it all over again. It looks like a different watch every time I look at it!!They nailed the wave dial with this one. Great video 👍😎 wear your Omega in good health.

Great find. I’m with you on you’re comments about the size of a watch. I too have a 6.7” wrist. I don’t have a problem wearing a 42mm watch. I wore a 44mm Breitling Superocean Heritage chrono in a 44mm because the lugs curved down, making the watch wear very comfortable. But after losing 50 pounds, my wrist lost 1/2 inch and the Breitling looked a bit to large for my new wrist. So, 42mm is my new max in size. I just purchased this model in blue and I can’t wait to get it on my wrist.

Bought mine at the end of last year. Black dial on bracelet just like this one.. It's hardly left my wrist since. Deadly accurate, a-magnetic, exotic escapement, super tough against bumps (METAS certified, full balance bridge for better shock tolerance) and it's also surprisingly comfy w/ fairly versatile styling. Imho, even after the fairly recent price increase to $5400 USD, this watch offers the most value of any diver out there and it's not even close. Thanks for the great review. 👍

I tried this 42mm version on today. It is a nice watch but it's annoyingly too small for my 19cm/7.5" wrist! I know they've tooled a 43.5mm version in ceramic (no red highlights, no date, and 1.5x cost!) so why can't they do this model based on that case sizing? For now, I'll carry on wearing my 45.5mm Planet Ocean 600M chrono but I would like a non-chrono watch to wear for a change. I know people comment about making watches smaller for their small wrist, but it works both ways! There are a lot of watches I like that are just too small, especially 40mm and under look like they're made for children!

I have a 6-5/8” wrist and most of my collection is 36 to 40mm with a few 42mm that wear well(ie; Seiko Flightmaster, Seiko solar field chrono). I tried the Omega SM300 at the Omega boutique and I have to say it wears surprisingly comfortable for a 42mm, and on the rubber strap it’s extremely comfortable and much lighter than I expected. I have a Tudor BB58, Rolex Explorer2, and the Omega is seriously on my radar. I do however feel more comfortable spending the extra few hundred and purchasing from my AD to preserve the warranty and any unexpected servicing. Thanks for an excellent review. It helps to hear it from another slender wrist.

Thank you for the vid....I have been thinking long and hard about getting the grey version for ages! I currently have the previous seamaster pro ceramic and the 41mm case with 47 lug to lug is spot on for my 6.7inch wrist. It’s also slimmer. I’m going to an AD tomorrow to try on the new 42 and I’m terrified that it’ll be too big. I really, really want it to work for me! I just don’t want it to look oversized on my wrist.

That's understandable. Everyone's preference is a little different and it may or may not work for you. For me, the larger case size is something I have adjusted to. These days I can't seem to take it off, and I prefer it over my smaller pieces. I wish you luck on your shopping journey. ⌚👍🏻

Great watch. I bought one to replace older, smaller model I wore for many years. I ultimately sold this new one because I couldn’t wear comfortably: no band taper makes it feel like I was wearing my watch with the face on inside of my wrist. Plus, the huge release valve at 10 o’clock (much larger than on old version), dug into my wrist. Beautiful update and it is great quality for the price but it wears way larger than it is.

My 39.5 mm. I could of got away with the 42mm or 43.
I can't find anyone to explain the difference between the 600m and the 300m. Is the crystal the same thickness for both watches? Are there more o-rings in the crown with the 600m. No real complaints.

  • @MisterMaster4life

As an Omega fan I'm doing my ultimate best to like this watch, but I just can't. It feels like they tried soooo hard...
The screaming dial, the fat clumsy hands, the shiney bezel with big white engravings, the enormous slap of steel as a clasp which doesn't integrate with the look of the bracelet at all, the helium crown, the everything. All subtlety is gone out of the window. This is the watch equivalent of a body builder flexing his muscles at the shore line while wearing a bright yellow speedo.

    • @jamesjames4906
      @jamesjames4906 Год назад

Omega tries to give this watch a tough guy look. After all, a diver watch with thin hands, thin bezel and no hall mark like the Helium value cannot show it's a strong man' watch. For the same reasons that you have for disliking an Omega, I never like a Rolex Submariner, but it's so popular meaning that lots of people like rugged but branded watches. I have been a loyal supporter of Rolex having worn different Rolex watches since 55 years ago until now. I recently bought a cheap second hand Omega Seamaster 300 just to feel how it's like to wear a heavy watch. My feel is good because I know I will switch back to my Rolex after a while.

I have small, weak wrists. I bought this ‘exact’ watch and as the provider of this video pointed out, I tried many different pieces, from multiple watchmakers. I have to say, it feels ‘right’ on the wrist and doesn’t feel ‘ big’ or lethargic. It feels, substantial and ‘quality.’ If you want to see ‘big’, I used to have a Breitling ‘crosswind.’ I loved the look but it was ‘gaudy’ and I ended up getting rid of it because after a short while, the watch winding motion became ‘difficult.’ This watch is very nice looking and honestly, the ‘lume’ is something I never thought was ‘lacking!’ It is actually, very legible and bright! I was impressed. Say what you will but after a year of ownership, I still ‘love’ this watch. That says something because with certain things, I have a ‘deep’ fascination with and it fades. This watch still holds my interest. On the other hand, people make a ‘big’ deal out of the Rolex and although Rolex is responsible for the ‘many’ innovations that wristwatches enjoy today, it is a ‘mundane’ and boring watch that people wear, IMHO, simply to get attention or to make money! That’s okay, to each their own but I want a watch that is ‘accurate’ in it’s timekeeping, pleasant to look at, technologically comprehensive and concurrent and won’t make me break the bank just to satisfy the public’s ego and follow along the guidelines of what Rolex was ‘originally’ designed for: a masterfully, marketed watch! Forget the R, I’ll take the ‘O’, which proceeds the R in OR, anyway. Omega or Rolex, you ask! Omega, pretty please! Thank you!

It's borderline edging up to too big. I hate the "you can wear anything you want" mantra because proportions and balance are not completely subjective things. The lug tips should absolutely NOT come up to the edge of your wrist, at least one link of the bracelet should be visible when looking face-on for there to be good proportion. Too many people are buying watches that are too big for them, but can't be convinced otherwise because it's their grail. The watch companies don't care, bigger watch means bigger billboard to advertise their brand in someone.
