Im getting the sleeve Dose anyone know if the need to place a catheter? Or intubate you?
Hi Jay, the sleeve gastrectomy requires general anesthesia which by default will require intubation. However most surgeons will not place a Foley catheter (urine catheter)
Do they go through your throat or just stomach
For the surgery, they go through your stomach. They make 5 to 6 small incisions in your abdomen
Wait its going to hurt? Everyone said it wasn't to bad...
There will be some pain but most patients describe it as being uncomfortable more so than painful. During the surgery, you will be under anesthesia so you will not feel pain.
how bad are the scars from the surgery?
All bariatric procedures are performed laparoscopically (meaning they create 6 small incisions in the abdomen). So the scaring and healing process is not bad at all!

Just had my sleeve done on 4/18. The worst pain is the damn carbon dioxide gas. Especially in my shoulders.
How is that pain now?
