"If you're not prepared for tough times, you can't get prepared when times get tough" this is such a significant statement. Complacency is a huge reason for not preparing enough. The world is changing so quickly and business is becoming so volatile, no one can afford to be complacent. Even from a personal point of view, you can't prepare for retirement when you retire. You can't prepare for bad health once bad health sets in. There are some things we can't prepare for, but with the majority of things we can. On that basis we should definitely be thinking about the future, taking a long term perspective, considering the risks, and preparing now to minimise and hopefully eliminate these risks. I have a tonne of respect for this man.
This one will be long because I really feel the video maker has missed it by a mile. The insights on the side panel are vague. The real insights should have been somewhat, if not exactly, like this: 1. Dare greatly does not even encompass what Jamie Dimon said. The narrative to be followed should be: Be prepared for tough times. You can do that by imagining the worst case scenario and preparing for it in advance. It also implies that hard work is the only way to get out of tough times (although creativity might also be of use in most of the cases). 2. This was a more important one missed as the video maker wrote "Dare Greatly" - Follow what's right even if it's hard and against the popular decision should have been the derived insight. 3. This one is not even mentioned. Keep focus on learning. One of the popular ways is by reading. In addition to that, meet people and ask them how they do/did it. You can save years of trial and error time by simply replicating the operating methods of successful people. At least that will give you a list of dos and don'ts. 4. Enjoy life is one of the many things he talked about. That said the video maker has missed out on some significant insights like: he's clearly talking about choosing a profession which you can enjoy and a place where you enjoy the culture. Do not compare your journey with others. 5. Deal with failure is a somewhat good advice but does not give the takeaway message he wanted to give. It is, like most of the insights the video maker has mentioned, pretty superfluous. Jamie Dimon extensively talks about the process of dealing with failure and his suggested way was to normalize it by indulging in on the common methods of crying, playing the blame game and talking to your loved ones for a limited period. Ultimately, it is only a part of the larger picture. He also talked about learning from your failures. 6. Earn it every day: Be brutally honest, stick to the ground even if you succeed and hustle. The 'earn it every day' kind of misses some of these key points. 7. Be prepared for tough times: Again, how? By practicing resilience because that will help you come out of it when the real issues show up. This is redundant, as it's already mentioned in the opening statements. 8. Write your own book: Some may imply that this means that you can dream big and everything. That may hold true, but that is not what he is talking about. He is clearly stating that there are certain inherent gifts you are born with which are clearly visible to your near and dear ones. You have to identify them, polish them and then leverage them to get where you desire to be. 9. Another implied insight was that you are responsible for whatever you decide to do; which means you always have an option whether to bend the rules or to follow your personal code of conduct. This one as well - missed. 10. Live deliberately: I congratulate the video maker for being able to grab this one out. It was actually stated verbatim, but, it was still a significant one. 11. Take care of your family (elaborated point). A closer observation would show, he also talks about taking care of one's body and soul. 12. Have Humility: This was kind of an oxymoron! The very moment the 'Have Humility' thing showed up, the text box at the bottom talked about him earning the biggest pay-cheque on Wall Street. This is highly ignorant of the video maker. Now, Mr. Evan Carmichael, I highly appreciate your idea of compiling the insights provided by leaders in their various speeches and pieces of communication. Kudos to the idea! That said, with this execution, you have almost ruined it. Was it less amount of work put up or logistic issues, I don't know; but if you are claiming to provide rules for success you need to present something more than a bunch of vague and not-so-self explanatory phrases. Again, decent work with the compilation and congratulations for the idea. The execution is where it all died. I hope you take this as constructive criticism. Waiting for better ones to come!
I'd go with no. 8, "live deliberately": You always should, and not only after some bad news changing your life. As long as I can take into account the worst that could ever happen even if life seems to be perfect, I'm convinced it affects my way of thinking and my over-all attitude might benefit.
I agree with that Olaf, as life can never be perfect, we should live our life the best way possible. #Believe. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. #BTA184 Shine
Lifelong learning is often stated but seldom practiced. 30% of Americans have not read a single book since college. For me, the biggest motivation for reading, apart from the myriad of benefits to your brain, is you become a more interesting person. Who wants to meet people that can talk only about themselves?
Good for the bite size bits, but really people are better off watching his full length speeches/interviews. Fascinating really that he takes the top managers on 1200+ mile bus tours, visiting the bank branches to see what is REALLY going on. And if you run into enough people, you really are guaranteed to find some who have no trouble speaking truth to power no matter the consequences. (And not out of cynicism.) Too bad 30 years from now a lot of these great success stories will probably be ignored, such that the most optimistic scenario is some principles (learning, growing) really are timeless.
Thank you very much for the suggestion and it would be great if you could post your request under the comments of this video: Top 10's - Who Should We Profile NEXT - ruclips.net/video/0arZb0xLIDM/видео.html if more people would vote or like your request and there are available videos/clips, we might do a Top 10 rules video for it. Much love. #Believe :) #BTA747 Shine
He forgot to mention the most important determinant of success: Being able to slaughter someone during a coffee break and return to a meeting as if nothing has happened. This is a virtue and skill even if you cannot solve simple budget problems. I like people like Jamie. Efficient and goal-oriented.
What about my daughter? Chase bank stole $25 for child support, and I have not see the child I raised in 6 years? What kind of father would do that? Illegitimate, inconsiderate, and illogical decision making going on!

I’m sure you’re “owed” one considering Dimon used the #TARP $ handed to him from our government to HELP #homeowners, but gave million$ bonuses to his top VPs, executives
I was abandoned when I was 6 because some dude raped me lets not name names anyways long story short jaimie let me stay with his family that's why I call him dad.
All he says is true but it is much easier to say when you grew up with a golden spoon. Please read about Jamie and see the privileged childhood that he was born into.

True but you might want to inform yourself that Jamie Dimon had a very privileged childhood and so his golden future was assured.
@@rrickarr Okay so I should just avoid preparing for the future because I came from an underprivileged rough background?
