      Surprised no one else mentioned this too but you can also do an outward kick with inward bass using the same tech that you'd use to do a spit snare simultaneously with an outward/inward bass. You sort of seal your throat off to your mouth with the back of your tongue and use the pressure in your lips/cheeks only to make the sound so you can do both at the same time.

    You can make certain sounds without using air at all. So inertia just inhaled through his nose and does the kick with the muscles in his mouth not using his lungs for kick.

    • @TheValePlays

      This is correct. He's inhaling through his nose to make the bass sound while using his mouth muscles for the kicks and snares. Basically all of the 'boots and cats' stuff can be done using only mouth pressure.

    That’s what I know, not too much but I hope it’s useful

    • @alexlozanov7640
      @alexlozanov7640 4 года назад +9

      Liprolls are generally used as a bass, although, there are multiple types, you can vary them to be more sub like or grimy, but yes, you're right, they can be used as an inward kick for routines that use liprolls and lip oscillations. Liprolls can also be done while taking a breathe in, or but simply using the pressure in your mouth to pull in without breathing in. "Hollow" liprolls are when you "hollow" your throat by making it wider, usually by lowering your Adam's apple.
      BBK is also a beatboxer, but is best known for his reactions.
      Yes, "songs" are routines, but British/Australian beatboxers sometimes refer to them as "tracks"
      By the way, "Esh" is a form of praise, per se

    An explanation for the kick on the top of the inward bass,
    The kick is done breathlessly, meaning that it takes nothing more than the power of your lips to create. Therefore your lungs are free to do whatever, including inward bass. Almost any breathless sound can be done (for the most part, some exceptions) on top of a vocal bass if done correctly. The main trick is just practicing your sounds to where you can do them breathlessly. A lot can be, some can't. Hope this explanation helps you with your confusion and inspires you to try it being that you can do a kick and inward bass.

    An inward kick can be done by basically making the same mouth position as a lip roll and by using the pressure within your mouth (so no lungs) can create a punchy sort of pop in the side of your mouth. The fact that it doesn't use air from the lungs is what means it can be done without interrupting the vocals (same can be said for the "spit snare" that inertia is using).

    the "inward snare" you're talking about is the "spit" snare or probably better known as the "bmg" snare. it doesn't take any air really so you can do inwards and this snare at the same time.

    For the kick you were talking about, you actually don't need a inward kick. Because a normal kick can be done without exhaling, but rather just with the pressure of your mouth. Try holding your breath and do a kick by pushing air out with your lips. You also have to inhale through your nose, so the air you use to inhale doesn't interrupt with your kick. Try doing a inhale bass with your mouth closed and kicking.

    When you were talking about the "inward kick" the way you do it is that you keep the sound going through your nasal cavity and not your mouth. Than you pressurize what's in your mouth and create the kick sound while still producing the sound

  • @simonella12
    @simonella12 4 года назад

    @David Larson ,Inertia uses no inward kick.. he uses his nasal passage for the bass and uses his mouth seperatly. try breathing through your nose in and out while using your mouth to kinda plop the bass and snare. he literally uses 2 ways to produce sound at once.. a lot of beatboxers do this and it starts as a hummalong, just humming nasally while making a simple beat with the air left in your mouth cavaty. it takes some practice but once you get the feel for it it's real easy. I can do a little beatboxing myself but these guys are legit beasts ! keep up the good work my man!

    Idk if it's a technique that beatboxers use or not, but there is this thing called circular breathing which allows you to inhale and exhale at the same time. People who play wind instruments use it to hold long notes without interruption. That might explain why inertia was able to inhale so long without exhaling with interruption. I don't really know though, just what I thought of when you were talking about that.

    inward kicks do exist, thats what you hear when someone does a kick directly into a liproll. inertia uses a tightened lip kick which allows him to do it using no air at all. :) thanks for making these videos, they're sick

    To be fair, the vibration he is doing around 7:28 isn't moving air into his lungs, its a technique that i think revolves air in your nasal cavity, somewhat similar to circular breathing.

  • @hunterwoodland8586

    My best guess as to the “inward kick” would be that he’s doing the inward bass through his nose and just doing a normal kick and snare through his mouth. It’s hard but it works

    Your inward bass is actually what many consider an inward vocal fry. Be careful because it's a totally different area of tension and it's easy to get stuck in muscle memory when trying to do actual inward bass :) just a tip! You're so right about beatbox nomenclature though... no one agrees on anything haha but for the most part there are many different kinds of inward basses, dependant on both physiology and tension zone. I have wanted to do videos similar to yours for a very long time and it's great to see someone claim the niche finally. p.s the sound he is doing while doing inward bass is called a 'BMG snare' or you can even do a B snare in or out without using air from your lungs, takes practice.

  • @en_kuroneko
    @en_kuroneko 4 года назад

    For helium in the beginning, he was using a kiss snare. Similar to the bmg snare but less pressure behind the upper or bottom lip. Both dont require any outward breathing just pressure on the lips using the muscles in you lips, cheeks and mouth
