I can't stop talking about this song. The meaning can be taken literally, that the couple dies in a fire but in a way, they die together as one-- united as one (quite literally) but in a way, and i think sounds better, it can also be interpreted metaphorically that love burns like a fire, enticing at first, dangerous when you fall deeper. But ofc, love works that way. Love is a blessing and a curse that it ignites you, and also consume you. You share it and in those flames called love, you burn together, melt together, share the pain of withering away into each other and unite as one forever, hence the church setting. I DUNNO WHAT IM SAYING UGHHHH THIS SONG IS JUST SOOOO AMAZING.
Oooh. That's such a beautiful interpretation.
Kinda reminds me of the two skeletons found hugging by archaeologists...
the dude who said “Only you can stop forest fires” in live chat at the ending is a legend
This is either an adorable love song or a song about death. Knowing Steampianist, it's probably both
Basically lovers dying in a fire
Its both but it has a much sweeter message
It's moreso a tragic love song (where the couple...don't escape the burning church) but you're accurate
It's literally till death do us apart
spot fucking on
At first, I thought this was the standard straight + toxic couple murder story. Then when I looked closer, the couple in the video are two ladies.
The setting is an empty chapel in a clearing, giving the feel that they live in a religion-heavy rural village.
I still had a few theories when I thought this was a straight couple, which could still apply here -- from a toxic relationship gone burny to the aforementioned "love is fickle" metaphor. But with the added context of this being a lesbian couple in a rural village, I wanna throw in another theory: this was a witch hunt.
the English translator did a really good job with the captions but maaaan i truly cannot even begin to express how haunting the lyrics are in Tagalog
As a Filipino, its scary how accurate this sounds to modern day Filipino romantic songs.
ah yes, doomed pinoy yuri, my favorite type of content
"Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame."
Canticle of Canticles 8:6
cruelty of hope, candle boy and now wag kang bibitaw. steampianist really likes the light of fire
Now you see- as a fellow pipino, I can definitley tell everyone who doesn't understand the lyrics that this song is more wholesome, heartwarming, and just overall just give the feels HAJSHAH AY NAKILIG- dejk but seriously, it is !
Just a msg from a Pinoy ! ^♡^
I felt so oddly heard by this.. I took this song, sat in the dark with my eyes closed in a cold room, and though I didn't know what it was saying, I sobbed, like full on ugly cried while listening to this.
Good job, Steampianist. That's truly a hard thing to do, the instrumental and sound of the vocals alone made me sob.
Edit: To describe it better, It felt like a mental breakdown
Edit: So my dog has cancer, and he's basically my big brother. I now use this song as a comfort song. Thank you for uploading this, still, even though I don't know wtf it's saying, I still love singing to it, it's really comforting to just feel like I'm singing my heart out for once.
Edit: So tomorrow is the day my bro goes. I scream/sobbed into a blanket while listening to this.
Edit: I still almost cry, or just do, when I hear 'At least you always have each other' now. I don't.
Edit: I had a dream about him today. I was about to feed him and my chihuahua, but then it clicked that he was back, and I got to hug him again.
Edit (most likely final.) : A year later. It's hard to believe it even IS a year later. I still cry when I try telling people about it, and though it might be a bit dumb, the few soft words I heard after he was gone will probably follow me to the grave. If I ever get dementia, or alzheimers, this will be the last memory that leaves me. "And his heart stopped."
I still remember hugging him as hard as I could after he left. Cancer is horrible in dogs. His body felt so cold, even only a few seconds after he died. I miss him. Forever a good boy. I love you Koda. I don't think you'd ever be replaced.
Things to point out:
Both people in the video are female
The philippines is gay friendly(have you seen our drag shows) but catholic churches are not
Both burn in a fire inside the church, together as one but it was the church that engulfs them both.
So basically catholic dont like gay
Despite their love not being appreciated, these two still held onto each other, not letting go even as the flames engulfed them.
Manila I guess and a lot of the Urban parts of the Philippines, but have you ever BEEN or HEARD people from Mindanao talk about gay people? I live in Lanao Del Norte and wtf. An example is a Bisaya song called ‘Ang Mga Bayot’, don’t worry, I’m sure it’ll get a good laugh off you!
thank you youve got me questioning life T_T.
My god, the best start of the day
I literally woke up just 10 minutes ago
I always like how you work with instrumentals
Thanks man i also just woke up at the end of the premiere
I've been listening to the song several times, and each time I listen to it it hurts more. And it's somewhat disturbing that at minute 3:56 what's in the background seem to me like screams of pain or even crying more than just a melody.
It's both a sad and beautiful song, great job, Steampianist!
as a filipino who loves vocaloid, i love this song.
same here
Oh man, got so excited when I saw you were doing another tagalog song. Ang Carinosa is one of my favourites and it's so exciting to see another one.
I guess you can say that song was pretty fire 🔥 😏
one time Steamy told sth like "it's so hot!" about this song, when he was saying that it's coming
@@matveika142ayo
@@matveika142huh 🤨
It’s been 6 months after I heard this song… The music at the end HAUNTED MY BRAIN after hearing it… It’s such a beautiful song..
The melody is so enticing, you can really feel all the emotion from its flow alone. That plus the instrumental plus reading along the translation gave me such immense chills, I'm just so, so in love with this song. Thank you so much for this masterpiece
...Wow. Holy moly. I didn't think this would hit really hard in my heart. Also the fact it's really unsettling too.
I feel this is also something I would also hear on Philippine radio too, which legitimately terrifies me lol
if you listen closely there are moments where it sounds like theres two people singing
more evident at the last chorus which puts a little bit more to it ngl
Round two of Tagalog Gumi, let’s go! ^^
WE NEED A ROUND THREE!!!!!!
Ahh this song sounds kinda like your typical pinoy love song, at the same time it isn't which makes it unique. From what i can make up, the song is about the lovers telling each other 'wag ka bumitaw' or dont let go, even if this supposed fire or maybe like problems is preventing them to stay with each other. Its just my idea from it.
Adding to your metaphor, they were in what looks like church, yet both figures shown in the MV look like females
Edit: Steampianist said in another comment that he didn't pay attention to the detail I expounded upon, so this part (and the song's meaning) was vague on purpose, still nice to know the vagueness leads people to different theories on this song's meaning
I personally think of this as the sequel to Cariñosa, but this time the couple is in hell - the girl for killing her beloved, the guy for cheating on his lover.
It starts off somber, as if the girl is talking to the guy in a loving way, but as the song intensifies (with the first chorus and the non-tuned hitting of the notes on the second verse), the girl seemed to remind the guy to not let go of his promise to love her (something that he broke in Cariñosa), until the bridge(?) part where she's talking about not tempting the fire. Until the end, it seemed to become an order for the guy to not let the girl go, as if against his will, not because he doesn't deserve it, but because it was his punishment for his son while he was still alive (which was cheating).
The girl had become the tormented for her actions, but also the tormentor of the man she loves.
Also, to even deepen the rabbit hole I caught myself in, the end of Cariñosa had wedding bells and the pipe organ at the end, somewhat saying that they could have been wedded in the church if not for the sin of the man. This time, they're both in the church, finally together. The only change is just this though - they were already both dead, and the girl isn't letting her man go this time.
Daym... I didnt expect to get such a filipino music feels from a Steampianist song.
It sounded so local yet with that sweet hint that it is made by Steampianist! Chef's kiss 🤌✨
this nearly made me cry like a baby thank you for this
It's unusual that I feel such immense joy when I hear a melody, so much so that I can say your art makes me feel so unique to have found you. I love your melodies, and I discovered you through The Undertaker's Daughter. Nowadays, I greatly appreciate your work. It's simply amazing.
"Wag Kang Bibitaw"
This is about suicide, isn't it-?
Ah wait nevermind- this song is quite wholesome honestly, that couple really loves eachother.
Shoot this song hits hard-- it's making me teary-eyed!!! Good job!! :D
No its not haha
@@SteampianistA masterpiece as usual.. the tragedy is saddening yet heart warming
Well this song is about a couple being burned inside a church together untill they die
@@jasminevillamor7759 yeaaah, just thought it was about sewer slide when I first saw it. Oh but dear 343 I was wrong.

Edit: I also have singable translyrics for this now, I uploaded it as a video if anybody wants to see... lol
Wag Kang Bibitaw = Don't Let Go
I am a moth
At your lamp
A light so beautiful
Your heat is a bewitching spell
Even if I were to get hurt
I can't be stopped
I'll approach you
I'll kiss you
If each star were an hour
My wish would fill the universe
The remaining time isn't enough
Don't let go
You and I
We were made to be a singular flame
Don't let go
You and I
At the centre of light that shines so brightly
Only us
Will be together
Until the flame of our two hearts is extinguished
I am a match
You are a candle
I'll set you ablaze
Even if I get to the point
When I burn out
For there was a moment
That we conjoined
And sparkled together
If each star were an hour
My wish would fill the universe
Embrace me until the end
Don't let go
You and I
We were made to be a singular flame
Don't let go
You and I
At the centre of light that shines so brightly
The two of us will be together
Even when the flame of our two suffering hearts extinguishes
The fire is great
Until it isn't
Don't tempt (it)
It will devour you
It can consume
Everything that you love
Nothing can escape
Oh, nothing can escape
(Nothing at all...)
Don't let go
You and I
We were made to be a singular flame
Don't let go
You and I
At the centre of light that shines so brightly
Don't let go
It's indecipherable now
The points to distinguish where you end and I end
Don't let go
Skin peeling off
Boiling blood and melted viscera
It is us that will be together
Until we're completely burned up
By the flame of our unfortunate hearts
Notes:
- This is translated with simple speech to convey the literal meaning but the lyrics are written in a more literary/formal Tagalog that isn't typical of daily speech
- "Tayo ay magsasama" can emphasise an active choice, like saying "We will be together (by our own volition)"
ie Contrasted to the more passive "Tayo ay magkasama" (lit. We are together-does not imply anything about making decision, only makes a statement about current circumstances)
"Tayo ay magsasama" can also literally translate to "We will combine"
Not sure if it's intentional but I think that choice of verb reinforces the song's message in a subtle but clever way (:
- "Tayo ang magsasama" also translates to "We will be together" but in a way what emphasises "us"/tayo ie It is specifically the two of us (not other people) that will be together
- "Sawi" means something like unfortunate, suffering, etc. but it is specifically used in the context of love eg unfortunate in love
Thankyou!! It’s very well written
THANK UUUU FOR THIS I LOVE YOU
I wrote the german subtitles for this song and used your english translation for it, because steam didn´t put the original subtitles in yet. So I´m very glad, somebody wrote a translation for me to use. :)
This is so unsettling and sad. In a very lovely way. Thanks Steam.
how I love these songs, thank you for existing steampianist ♡
Another masterpiece!! Thank you steampianist!🔥
so good! sounds like an opm alt rock song i'll hear on the local radio hehe
I absolutely can't get over by Carinosa and now another masterpiece, wish I can make another cover. Great work Steampianist❤
Absolute bop, didn't understand some lyrics, but it's still a bop
Without exaggerating, I've listened to it more than 50 times, it's the best song I've ever heard in my life, I love it
🔥🔥LAPNOS NA BALAT KUMUKULONG DUGO AT TUNAW NA LAMAN‼‼🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
Never thought i would cry at this song. Tysm for the banger 🔥🔥🔥
I don't know the language, so I'm going to take a wild guess.
These two girls loved each other and secretly got married in a chapel.
Their disapproving family members got wind of this and burned down the chapel with the couple inside.
Am I in the ballpark?
two girls i didnt even noticed 😅
@@Steampianist Sorry! It just looked like two girls to me! I'm so sorry!
...was I close?
@@1Up2081 well this one doesnt have a story I just wanted to make a song on an image of 2 people embracing in fire
And I give like very general prompts/ideas to the artist
@@Steampianist Ahhh, that explains it.
I feel slightly better knowing that the song and art was vague on purpose. 😅
Sorry, I was just worried that I had inadvertently insulted a fellow artist by assuming things about their work. It's quite lovely!
This feels like a lullaby for an end, whatever it is. A goodbye with love and melancoly in its purest form. Great song
3:51 This part gives me chills
Excellent work as always! This is definitely going on my playlist!
I love your instrument choices! They're so good!
NOOO, I MISSED THE PREMIERE AAAA
Wrong, although I really don't know what the song says I feel it comforting somehow, thanks Steampianist, tasty.
I love the art too, I don't think it's ever let me down, the guitar is the ultimate, ahhh, not sure if I've said it before but your team always does an excellent job.
PS: I just realized something... It's crazy how the previous song was about friendship and this song seems to be about unbreakable love (I say this based on the main image in the video).
a masterpiece as always my man!! thanks for all the music you have created for us to listen!!
thanks mah dude
Tagalog vocaloid?! Hells yeah! I welcome this very much! I will watch your progress very closely, good man!
I loved the lyrics really much!!!🌺🌺🦋 This makes me relax and calm in the night!!🦋
this is pasilyo's bad ending
same context, same vibes, but this one takes a turn for the worst, while the other ends in each other successfully getting married and spending their lives with each other
im actually thinking that this song is like pasilyo but darker too! (and IMO more realistic portrayal of love and unity with no sugarcoating)
my birthday is literally tomorrow and this is such a lovely surprise i bumped into!! once again an awesome banger!! 🥹💓✨

Hi Steampianist, great song. I wanted to ask why one of your older songs "Thing" on newgrounds has external(Geometry Dash) use disabled. I'm not sure if this was an accident but if it was, I think it would be great if you enabled it, thank you, and keep up the good work!
I can't believe steampianist is a Filipino 😭
If Steampianist is australian or something. Its overwhelming that a Japanese loving song producer is happy to make a song for us filipinos
Me waiting patiently for someone to translate
i wonder if there is some symbolism between it being two women in love, inside a burning church?
