- The intro movie to Warcraft: Orcs and Humans assuming your MS-DOS operating system was well configured and you owned a state of the art Pentium processor along with a robust MIDI sound card.
The story back then was simple. Humans in the land of Azeroth are invaded by Orcs from an unknown location. The game had two different endings, the Human victory where the Horde is defeated from within Azeroth or the Orc victory which was the true ending that's preceded by Warcraft II where Stormwind is destroyed by the Horde and Azeroth falls that forces Lordaeron, Qual'thalas and Khaz Modan to form The Alliance.

Warcraft 1, the Kindom's name was Azeroth. In Warcraft 2, the kingdom's name was Azeroth. In Warcraft 3, the kingdom's name was Azeroth, and the Eastern Continent was also named Azeroth. In WoW, the Kingdom's name was Stormwind, the Continent's name was the Eastern Kingdoms, and the World was Azeroth.
Then Azeroth is finally a titan :d
Well to be fair in the context of Demons and Orcish invaders (from draenor) in WC1, the forces of stormwind are the primary barrier to their conquest of the world, they dominate the southern part of the continent, so they can be called the "forces of azeroth"
In WC2, the storm wind refugees/military regroup in the kingdom lordaeron, form a further reaching alliance from quel thalas down to the portal, and this alliance, headed by Lothar can be fairly called forces of azeroth.
Let's recall Demons destroy shit, they'd destroy (or conquer from the orcs POV, but they are misled) the whole world (ie azeroth), anyone resisting their general destruction is a defender of that place.
When the orcs/etc later become civilized and distance themselves from demons, it makes sense they'd be included as a subset of that world (azeroth) rather than an attacker of it.
From a land battle between Man and Orc to a cosmic war between mortals and demonkind.
Warcraft's come a long way.
To KDA and animated K-Pop music videos
@@cyrkielnetwork KDA’s from League, tho.
To saving the Realms of Death and Eternity itself from the hands of the Jailer, who's basically WoWs Satan.
More like a cosmetic war now (if you pay the price).
Canon : Warcraft 1 - Orc ending (destruction of Stormwind and moving up north past the great sea. WC2 intro is the destruction of Stromgarde)
Canon : Wacraft 2 - Human ending (they go through the Dark Portal to chase orcs back in their home)
1. The WC2 Intro is not in Stromgarde, it's probably somewhere in Hillsbrad Foothills, as first WC2 missions take place in this area.
2. "Tides of Darkness" only ended in destruction of the Dark Portal, going throught the Dark Portal into Draenor is the story for the expansion campaigh
3. In "Beyond the Dark Portal", both campaigns are canon, and they both slightly overlaps with each other, with Ner'Zhul campaign begining first, and ending in the middle of Khadgar campaign.
The voice is original? That being said, the last three words would prove to be prophetic...
Check out this play through of warcraft 1! www.twitch.tv/alarashade
That obnoxious loud-ass 16 second intro though.
I remember when all friends gathered in front of the screen and watched this over and over. Still watching it! :D
Funny that here he speaks about the Kingdom of Azeroth while in later games they will call the whole world Azeroth and this kingdom will be called Stormwind.
Warcraft 1 isn't even canon anymore, aside from "Orcs invaded from a portal and sacked Stormwind."
This is before the Human kingdoms discovered Kalimdor. My theory is that they just called themselves the Kingdoms of Azeroth because as far as they were concerned, they were the only civilization on Azeroth.
Diamond Metal Nope. High Elves were already in the North (they came from Kalimdor) and so did Lordaeron and many of the human kingdoms like Kul’tiras already present. It’s a complete and obvious retcon.
Nagi They obviously retconned it after the first game, but apparently the land where Stormwind is was canonically called Azeroth at some point. They probably took on the name out of pride or something, like how the Empire in Warhammer calls themselves The Empire of Man despite the fact that there are many other human empires.
I belive the exact same. I don't think the elves themselves knew their origin, or am I mistaken? If not, no one should know of Kalimdor's existence and I don't believe that anyone from the human kingdoms knows it exists. Azeroth was just an old name for the "Eastern Kingdoms"
Welcome to the World of Warcraft...
*In the age of chaos two factions battled for dominance*
Disco music intensifies.
Welcome to the World of Warcraft?!
They literally could have a better movie with just this intro alone
Concerning Goblins:
"- I wish i had a weapon!". ;)
Whenever they make a new wow expansion they should watch this and then base the next expansion off this tone and feel
Oh...my childhood :D DARN YOU MEDIV! Your crazy fire missles of death still can foil me after all these years!
"Stop poking me!!"
*poke poke*
*15 years later*
Then the Vulpera arrived...
This takes me back!
The Clerics of Northshire Abbey rock! Preistess Anetta is a great trainer!
I wonder if blizzard had planned the whole story like war of the ancients everything really when this game was in development
In warcraft 1 there are much ideas for the other games and story.
Like you see Stormwind and Northshire is already planned, but I think the legion wasn't.
If you watch the Warcraft 2 Cinematics you see they come close to the story of nowadays.
well then came warcraft 3 and they made it perfectly (turned it into World of Warcraft)
Probably not
They weren't. Even the Legion hadn't been conceived of back then; instead, the Orcs stumbled across Azeroth at random and decided to invade. The Legion, Kil'jaeden, Sargeras, and some other associated lore wouldn't be written until Warcraft II, when Chris Metzan was just a concept artist.
I doubt it. According to some stories, Bill Roper (the Narrator) literally pulled the lines out of his ass for the first game. Ultimately, they decided to go with it and we eventually find ourselves at modern WoW.
I love how Stormwind in Warcraft 1 actually resembles the Stormwind in WoW
WoW stormwind is 3.0. It was destroyed once in Warcraft 1, rebuilt as new stormwind and destroyed in warcraft 2 before we got to the third itteration. I believe that castle was originally called stonewind keep.
The title of their mmorpg was already set then :p
AWESOME
Correction: The continent's name was Azeroth in Warcraft 2. Just double-checked my manual!
Holy SHIT this brings back memories... Haven't seen this cinematic since the game was new.
Fountain of the legend.
Four years into the future, your comment still stands as true.
Good old times
one word define : Legendary
They didn't plan it, but the idea for WoW would likely have been sparked by that phrase many years after.
I'm thankful they have taken a more neutral approach to the Horde, not making them seem COMPLETELY EVIL like in here.
They are pure evil here because they were puppets of the Legion.
@@LordThomasPassion Yeah, I later learned about Fel and everything that went down.
I know this comment is 12 years old.
That’s the old horde, they’re still evil. The new horde is much better. Thrall is also good. Of course they were a little bit horrible after Silvana became leader. Too be fair the alliance aren’t that much better because they committed war crimes.
@@TheSilentWalkerz I wasn't too good at reading politics in this when I was 16, pfft. But I think I get it now.
I once played a broken open world lewd game, Femdom University, and it had this castle as a location. No, I didn't hallucinate it.
- Adûnâi
I like how the narration is like someone telling about events that actually happened. Is that Tolkien's influence showing? Or is it an example of great minds thinking alike?
ahh, good memories :)
I play it, and I know, and love the lore of warcraft (hence why I am here)
New memories for me :D
Can you tell please what version is this that has the subtitles? I have a lot of WC1 versions and I just can't seem to find one with subtitles.
WELCOME TO THE WoW! \m/
your comment is so old
Ahhh i rember buying this game :)
Watched some of your videos, regarding your intros they are cool enough, but i think they should be shorter :)
I never understood that. Why would you add your intro to something you just left untouched? Furthermore, why even make it long. But it use to happen a lot in early youtube. Maybe it was for the copyright witch hunt? Which was even more rabit back then? Who knows....
At the start of the video where can i find this creapy sound
Look at how upset you're getting despite being wrong.
Actually I think it was about 10 million players back then too. It just shows that WoW's population has stagnated when it was going up and up until then, now WoW loses millions within months.
Dude this is so much more badass than World of Warcraft. This is just as badass as Arena was to Elder Scrolls.
Any Full Version of WC is available?
I want a Dynasty Warriors spinoff game of this series!
the music is so genesis, even if it's not for the genesis
@GnomereganGnetwork M8,I think you didnt get the point. Anyway,it seems were looking at the game, each from different perspcetive.
haha, he said "welcome to the world of warcraft", that's kinda weird since this is warcraft 1 not world of warcraft...
The Twisting Nether
Dude,WC I is a very very very old game, way back then...wow didnt even exsist,by "wecloming" us to the world of warcraft,he actually meant welcome to the Warcraft Universe, not the crappy game that ruined BLizzards greatest invention-Warcraft and its amazing lore.
I totally agree with sinneade, there is no better storyline, nor there will be.
WC 4 ever!
@JurassicRaptor95 mop?
MAgics can be spelled either way. The original way to spell it was magiks
Welcome to the World of Warcraft.. hehe nice :)
Btw Underworld will be Outland right?
The Country name is Azeroth check the Warcraft 1 manual.
I wouldn't say it ruined lore, but they definitely brought in characters like Illidan and Arthas WAY too early and had them die too easily. The same goes for Kael'Thas. I like where the lore is going now, where the Horde plans to kill Garrosh and people like Lor'Themar are considering rejoining the Alliance. A pet peeve that I noticed is that when the Horde seems to be winning, they lose because of a leadership problem, like with Ner'Zhul and Gul'Dan in WC2 nad now Garrosh.
This didnt age well
Damn bruh why you gotta make the Orcs sound like the bad guys?
i'm guessing 10 million people would have to disagree with "ruined"
he doesnt meant warcraft 4 he meant warcraft for ever
But maybe it was a prediction?
Actually, they're currently at 10 million and they never had 20 million... the peak was 12 million.
thay spelled magics wrong it said magiks
Back when warcraft had a storyline... Now it is such a mess and lost it's magic long ago.. Back then it was a medieval tale, plain and simple, with a bit of fantasy.. Now it's a mess of Many myths and cultures and anachronisms thrown together and mixed together in a way that doesnt fit..sad
@GnomereganGnetwork OR most of us classic Warcraft fans (myself included, still have Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II (and the expansion), Warcraft III (and the expansion), but never bought World of Warcraft (played it at a friend's, hated it). Why? Because it destroyed everything that I love of Warcraft. It's the best way to give a big middle finger to the loyal fan base by changing the genre, charging outrages monthly fees and just setting everything in the same relative universe.
Azeroth is the worlds name in Warcraft and not a country. The countries in Azeroth are Lordaeron, Kalimdor, Northrend etc.. What you call the world if it isn't Azeroth?
Hey hey, hey hey! You know who's draining the magic right now? Do ya? Well, you guys all are, because you're in the comment section when you should be playing.
They ruined the plot to make it compatible with the MMO. They Litterally killed several plotlines and characters to fuel it.
Well what is the name of the planet then?
Stormwind
@aarondirebear People actually call that world "Azeroth?" I thought that was just ignorant media-speak.
Take it you haven't played MOP then...
cute
@Delta0prative What's wrong with Werewolfs (Worgens) and Walrus (Tuskar)? If you have played Warcraft 3 you'll see they are in there. It's the lore! It was written before WoW was made so... these aren't new ideas. Blizzard usualy use old and classic ideas like... Cho'gall. They are going to make him a raid boss in Cata. You played him in Warcraft 2. Blizz doesnt create new racials or new storyline if it isnt in the lore. Most of the time...
The first PC game I ever bought. Had the demo from some magazine and played it more than most games Ive actually bought. I hope they do another wartcraft RTS again. Do a world of starcraft and give the warcraft IP time to recover from the raping it took as an MMO.
What's the matter with you? You seems to be smart enough to understand the point.
Warcraft hipsters... Warcraft hipsters everywhere. WoW happened! Get over it!
Hell yes! I cringe whenever I hear/read otherwise.
funny graphics
@3rdButNotFinal Derp, Warhammer, derp. Don't forget to thank GW for inspiring Blizzard.
wow = lolpandas
where did heavycells think that 10 million buyers means 10 million satisfied customers? anyone who has played the previous warcraft games BEFORE WoW knows that WoW ruined warcrafts story.
@aarondirebear Back before Metzen ruined the story.
I know how you feel, I WANT WARCRAFT IV, not that WoW crap
Oh the years of playing O&H, ToD, BtDP...
However, I can't say I approved of a lot of the lore of Warcraft III (I mean characters like Arthas made me want to throw my screen at the wall, and Ner'zhul melded with him? GAG ME!)
You can easily see that in order to keep the WOW world interesting, they have to bring back heroes from Warcraft II, and now O&H (with the new WoD).
I'm happy Blizzard is trying to get out of this TREATYcraft they have been pumping down our throats, but come on... Traveling back in time to bring Orc legends into WOW so that random people can raid and kill them all? Stop screwing over the Horde's Champions!!! I'm sick of this. Just make new heroes that are actually decent. Illidan was a decent hero (one of the few from III).
Oh well... I know I come off as a butt hurt fanboy. I was hopeful that Garrosh would become a strong powerful warchief who led the Orcs into bloody conflict with that traditional bloodthirsty rage... but he ended up becoming a weak brainless welp who couldn't conduct tactical warfare to save his life.
The only reason I get so aggressive about this game, is that the first 3 games were gold. They were among my favorite of all games (not just rts, but ever other game 2boot!). The style, the feel, the aggressiveness. What happened to it? Passive Orcs? Weak Heroes? Time Travel? Thrall? (oh wait, he comes under the 'weak heroes')
Ok... I'm done raging.
Don't wonder why, it's nostalgia kicking in.
If arthas' character made you rage, or you disliked wc3 storylines, then simply good storylines and epic characters isn't your cup of tea. nomsayin'.
Rereading my posts from years back makes me chuckle...
I find that time tends to weather ideas. So revisiting this topic 3 years later is quite a kick.
I never really cared too much for Arthas for a host of reasons:
Weak, Arrogant, Simpleminded, Disloyal, and I'm sure I could continue (been over 8 years since I played the WCIII games, so my memory is a tad fuzzy).
Yet, to be fair... these are the reasons that Ner'zhul so easily controlled him.
I also never empathized with him... so even when he died, I was like, "meh."
Now for the storylines in Warcraft III. I never said I didn't like them (I am not a huge fan of the heroes themselves, but there stories were interesting to follow). What I didn't care too much for in Warcraft III lore and on, had to do with how the orcs were... how do I say it? Humanized, pacified, tamed down?
Also
I loved the character of Ner'zhul... his honor, desire for the horde, and resistance to the burning legion. Those were LEGIT. I just didn't understand all of his actions post his time in the crushing void (where he became the unwilling dog of the burning legion). He lost his love of his people. He lost his pride, his identity, his honor. Always hoped for a story arc where he left Arthas, and inhabited an orc... to rejoin the horde. (just a random personal wish I had for a long time)
Rereading my post, it was less about WCIII, and more about the reuse of classic heroes in an attempt to boost popularity in WOW. We see it now with the newest release, only this time with Illidan.
I may disagree with lore choices in Warcraft, but I still read and play it with a great deal of love for the franchise. Warcraft has a big place in my heart... which accounts for the passionate 'raging' that I have done. ;P
Yeah dude wow is crap.
Irrelevant.
I thought WoW had potential, but it got overrun by goldminers and childish little shits, who in turn made the game obnoxious and boring at the same time.
Also, Blizzard made the mistake of allowing Richard A. Knaak to pen a couple dozen stories for all three of their franchises- most deliberately/obsessively being Warcraft.
