      not fatigue, but he lost concentration. My guesss: Luans strategy is to intimidate opponents with super hard, fast & clean tricks, but this needs extra high focus, which fades after some time. It's truly amazing how Cody keeps his cool for so long. Luan losing may be annoying for the audience, because Luans tricks look better, so you could think he's the 'better' skater of them two. legendary battle!

      skatersridge I can off-hand think of a dozen different tricks Luan's got that he coulda easily won with, but in the heat of the moment he was too into his own head about playing Cody again. He went in with a defeatist mentality so he blanked on what to do when he had Cody at T.

    what brothers me the most about Cody is his attitude. he's fake modest and forcefully humble half the time. he says he doesn't practice and is just there for fun, he's obviously not, he cares, he wants to win, he studies his opponent and takes it to heart when he can't land a trick.
    he says he doesn't have a strategy when he plays....he obviously does, he already beat Luan last year and went for the same tricks he knew Luan couldn't do this time.
    I don't have a problem with Cody winning I just want him to be honest and stop _trying_ to be humble....just be humble.
    Luan is legit and doesnt hide any motives and I'd watch him over Cody every day.

    • @trojanthegreat
      @trojanthegreat 8 лет назад +93

      Cody doesn't pretend to be anything. I don't know where you get this from, just watch his push episodes or any pre-game interview in the berrics.com.
      Cody did everything he could to win BATB 7 because he was a failing skateboarder with barely a penny to his name. He needed the recognition to fufil his dream and the money to move to California to help him Perdue skateboarding as a career...
      If you have a problem with a guy using his skill to advance his lifestyle then fuck you, lol.

    • @fallen4life080
      @fallen4life080 8 лет назад +12

      I remember seeing him in a 2010 es game of skate in Michigan. I didn't like his attitude but then again we were probably 19 or 20, immature.
      He was killing other kids and "patronising" them by clapping and rooting for them every time they did a cheap trick Cody could do in his sleep. Maybe he was trying to be a good sport but if i recall correctly one kid, maybe 15 or 16 kept looking at him like "dude what the hell, you're killing me, no need to pretend its a good match".
      I also didn't like how he used to have a little bit of that fake steeze which he's sort of improved on at least. (Again just my opinion)
      Lastly, this is something I think he still has, is that he was telling people (at least I over heard it as I was sort of just creeping up on good skater's conversations haha) is that he said he "doesn't practice", I think it was near the end of the competition that he was playing a kid who was just dishing out letters to Cody. Don't remember if he won or lost but Cody's demeanor suddenly changed from light hearted and confident to "butt hurt", Cody looked so passively pissed off and he was still clapping but it looked so forced! After the game, which again I don't remember if he won, I saw Cody practising those same tricks that he couldn't do. He obviously took it personal!
      So yeah I admit I'm maybe being too harsh, but it just those little things that irk me haha. He worked hard to win BATB 7 but I think he downplays his character and isn't honest with himself or us. I like those honest skaters that just do what they gotta do and tell you BUT without being arrogant about it. P-Rod will flat out tell you how he's gonna strategize haha.

      Really it just looks like you’re mad because Luan lost. You’re assuming how their personality is when you know nothing about both of them. If I’m going to play a game of skate against you, I will do the tricks I know you can’t do... Anyone... Of course you are going to try to win, and you would even more if there is a price. That’s no strategy... that’s just how every skater would play a game of skate. And it would be kind of stupid if we play again one year later and you lose with the same tricks... don’t you think?
      He wants to win? He studies his opponent? Takes it to heart when he can’t land a trick? That sounds like a very passionate skater to me... I know how hard it is to see humbleness in someone you have never seen failing, but that’s no excuse to assume something about their personality.
      Kinda stupid how skateboarders don’t like each other because they look "fake", or they talk funny, or they push weird or whatever... Skateboarders put emphasis in stupid details...
      Yeah you right. Just switch and Nollie doubles...right? Whatever! He doesn’t seem as humble as I would want to, so no, I don’t like him.
      If you prefer Luan for the way he skates, that’s another thing... For example I love Shane O’Neill... come on Shane is awesome... I don’t mind it there is any other "better" skater (according to other skaters) I would watch Shane over and over again. But is it because he seems like a better person or something? Hell no.

    For everyone still arguing about Cody's sw 360 heel whipping out the "no doing tricks that slide on the ground" rule : This rule was added because Joey Brezinski did a sliding 3 shuv instead of an impossible against Carroll in batb1. The rule is about initial pop, not whether you revert the trick or not, plus it was defense. If Cody's 360 heel doesn't count, then Luan's 540 does even less.
