Yep, god has a greater purpose for you. Awesome to see you back out and your head held high. You're strong and amazing. You got this, take it and run with it! 🙏
YEAH! Welcome back! We were there. Warren (you know, the guy who gave up his ride in Rulo's 5/16 car and buckled you in for your video co-driving in the 5/16), his mom Pat and me. With Rulo, his co-driver Amber and Sidney Hardy 599. We pitted amongst a crowd of class 11 racers. Like Donnie Donovan. Saw the Idiot Racing Class 11 Bug and thought of you. I wish now I stopped by. Sidney's car, which has been at my house since the Mint, got a new left CV axle like Wednesday before Glen Helen. In fixing that, we found the left rear brake line where the flex line meets the hard line on the arm was leaking. That turned into a hassle to fix and a test in the desert right by my house revealed that the brakes were not releasing when the pedal was released. Replaced the damaged master cylinder and re-adjusted the brake/clutch pedal stop and it was still dragging. At the track, Rulo adjusted the stop farther than Sid liked, but it worked. Sid later broke a torsion. Rulo went to his shop and brought another and it was swapped out. In Saturday's race Sid and Warren actually beat Rulo taking 1st in class by 3 seconds on time. Then they had lots of fun in the night race. Sunday, Sid and Warren were chasing Rulo and Amber when Rulo began to slow. Rulo was having the same brake trouble Sid had. He pulled into the hot pit and jumped out to work on it. Took his helmet off and got a wrench. He opened the bleeder valve on the right rear to relieve pressure and boiling smoking hot brake fluid squirted on his forehead, leaving a burn beyond a blister. We poured water on his head and he put his helmet back on, jumping in and taking off. With the brakes working better, he set the fast lap time of the weekend for the class chasing Sid and Warren from well over a lap behind. Amber didn't know Rulo was burned until after the race. I know the burn is very painful, but Rulo is a tough guy and didn't want any medical help. Pat is a retired nurse who wouldn't let him slide and made sure it was taken care of. End result for the weekend was 1st place trophy for Sid and Warren and 2nd place trophy for Rulo and Amber. Anyway, I'm SO GLAD that you're doing well enough to not only come out, but to actually get back in a race car. If you come to races, please come around to our pit. To say howdy or maybe to get a ride.
We are glad to see you out and about ripping it up with friends and buggies!!! What an amazing come back, you are the best!!!!!!! Your laughter is contagious 😊 absolutely 💯!
5:34 you pass Warren's white F350 chase truck with Sid's trailer on the left. Then you go around the corner past the VW bus and such of Donnie Donovan's crew. We stayed 'til the last of the pit crew challenge. That was fun.
Ashlynn you rock! You are so strong and such an inspiration to us all. I’ve been wanting to plan a trip down to Jawbone canyon since I started watching the channel 3 years ago and finally this year I said screw it I’m going (driving all the way from Portland OR)! Thank you for inspiring me!
That's awesome!! I would swing by and check out dove springs as well if I were you since it is on the way. That was Spencer and I's favorite stomping grounds :)
Just Got to say thank you for everything you have done because of your videos I am starting on my super beetle to baja build even tho everyone I know say's it can't be done you have should me that it can and it is fun to do. Thank you and God Bless.
9:26 as you enter the race track, there are people on the right at the photographer's window in the fence. That's Sidney Hardy, Amber Watson, Warren Parcells and me, Richard Parcells watching you guys. Seen again at 10:26 as you finish your lap.🏁
Everytime I see a Volkswagen on the road I think of you. Saw a 69 Volkswagen beetle with only forty-four thousand miles on it. A old man had it and I stopped and talked to him.
