Update: Atom will be officially discontinued later this year. Visual Studio Code is another one we highly recommend... What free software do you use? Thanks for watching :)
@@raymondgradzewicz I am not sure about this but I think that the Audacity Team apologized for the Telemetry and said that they won't implement it anymore... Correct me if I am wrong.
@@capedcrusader5282 True, but muse group still owns audacity and they may only have 180'd their decision because of the backlash. Audacium is community driven, not company driven like Audacity now is.
Free programs is often better and faster than paid versions. Paid versions have to be bloated so people think they get more value, but often they don't.
Couple more programs: Shotcut; Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor. . Raw Therapee is a RAW photo editor similar to Adobe Lightroom. Thanks, always get at least one software to download from this series! I would like to mention Chocolatey as a package manager, it doesn't have a great GUI, but when you get used to it, downloading packages, and keeping things up to date is very easy.
@@Neucher winget is a poorman's clone of Chocolatey, though. Did MS finally add the option of updating installed applications through winget? Last I checked, it could only _install_ applications which made it a slightly better option than Ninite. Chocolatey actually does everything you expect from a bona fide package manager.
In my opinion, the best free software in existence(other than free Linux OS variants) is Blender. It's a really versatile, feature-rich software, with industry-level standard and uses. And can be used for modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation. Each of these fields are so complex in their own and tough to master. Blender support lots of formats, provides lots of plugins, optimizations, and even allows creating and using your own plugins. And it is regularly updated. Thanks to their development team. 👍👍
So good! I really appreciate this video. Even being in I.T. for many years, it's hard to keep track of everything and videos like this help us all out.
Dude!!! This Everything search tool is a time saver. I have a massive amount of files & folders on my NAS and several network computers. I agree with your statement, it is a Nightmare using windows to search for files. I would often use my smartphone ES File Explorer app to find files & folders on my NAS. The Everything file searching tool does this in seconds on the local desktop and network drives, for me, this is a Godsend. I don't know how your video got into my feed, I guess that too was a Godsend. Thank You.
Appreciate the time you take to explain in detail aspects of these programs, especially for the 🤔. For instance, in the CPUZ, you explained what SPD stood for. 👍👍👍
Nice list! I realize a list of 10 restricts to the most common use cases, but I would have included 7-zip, since it's lightweight, quick and has nice encryption features (just now doing my taxes... so I needed those encryption capabilities!)
It's a niche application, but it's hard to beat N.I.N.A. to run a telescope and camera for deep-sky astrophotography. Free, open-source, but Windows-only.
@@BioHunter1990 Yes, connecting your camera is exactly what you do--you can connect a Canon or Nikon DSLR, or a dedicated astrophotography camera. To make good use of it, you'd also want a suitable telescope mount, and with those two things, you can largely automate the process (though there are certainly more accessories that could be bought). Check out the channels of Nebula Photos and Cuiv the Lazy Geek for lots more information.
I use the free VS Code with free WSL2 Ubuntu from Microsoft. VS Code is no longer light weight and takes hard work to setup correctly so that it can use Conda environments installed on Windows and on Linux sides correctly. Still sticking with it for now. Anaconda and Python are also free. I was also going to mention 7-Zip too. I use Paint on Windows for simple crops and resizing pictures. Your recommended programs for images look better.
Everything is good - But I also use the Free version of Agent Ransack, which gives me very precise control over finding files, by words in the text, date range, type etc.
Yeah the batch possibilities are fantastic. I use it to publish photo series on my website. Create a more normal internet size photo with my name on in the corner and also create the webpage thumbnails with batch. Batch functions like: resize, light, contrast, sharpening and adding text in all kinds of ways makes this very fast starting, 'small' program better then all large size photo editors. Like I said: very underrated :)

Audacium, it's an alternative to Audacity now that Audacity has implemented telemetry. It works on both Windows and Linux.

PotPlayer. For me, this is the best video player. For this, I've uninstalled VLC. One problem is that, LavFilters has to be installed seperately.
Thanks!

When I need to add subtitles to a movie - Handbrake is the one choice tool. I can't hear without subtitles ;-)
Thanks for the info about raw therapee, it looks real interesting.

These days chocolatey is mostly replaced with winget that is pre installed on any windows 10 system.

thank you very very very much, you help me a lot
Thank you so much!
Video was useful, concise.
Nice one! 👍
Everything is the best, and been using it for the last 3 years - it sure takes the anxiety out of trying to find files
Everything has really come in handy the very first time you introduced it to us. I've been hooked ever since.
I agree. The Everything program is super useful. It certainly knocks the standard Windows search facility into a cocked hat.
I came across Everything probably 12 years ago and have been using it ever since. The speed of search is really unbeatable.
really nice videos , many thanks .
Great review, thank you!
Great vid. Subbed and thanks
Patchmypc is very similar to Ninite and does all updates silently also. Contains most of what you mentioned. Good video , thx
Everything works, especially free, use until it is too late!Cool! Downloaded))
Nice man ty
Thank you, this is indeed helpful
Great list i need several of these apps now. Thanks Dennis
Nice List

Yeah, I personally love 7-Zip over Winzip or any other compression tool!
I just wished there was a dark mode for the UI... it hurts when using it at night.
thank u helped me a lot
Great.. 👌👍
Nice job ;)
How about a program on 'database applications' with a focus on the most simple to intermediate for the casual user.
Love this video. Thanks for sharing your info.
Well done. thanks
Great video thank you very much 👍
Worked perfectly, thanks
great video, but a few missing are :
Libra Office or Open Office vs MS Office
Audacity Sound editor
Krita & Gimp 2d art programs
OpenOffice only has 32 bit for windows, but Libre has 64 bit.
Libre and Gimp seconded!
Thank you, this is very informative...take care!!
you are the best dude
That Guy Thanks, I will look into it later.
Another great/helpful video :)

Everything is a life saver, I don't know why M$ hasn't acquired the software into it's bloated telemetry OS.
Very Kool👍👍

What a fantastic Video!!! Keep it up!!!
Like to hear of a great DTP free software - thanks
