  • Oh wow, the Dark Arts x Daniel 'Tomo' Thomson Vader 2.0 (or V2) looks mind blowingly good and rest assured it surfs pretty well too!
    Available here: www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/da...
The original Vader in Firewire's LFT tech was good, like really good and this new updated version, the 2.0 elevates it to another level. It now features the Vee Quad Concave hull design (VQC). Tomo's drive to optimise the combo of the outline, bottom contour and nose entry curve is all designed to give you more; more speed, more tunring power, more flow, basically more of everything!
Tomo belives this 'ultra high performance' design once again defies traditional logic and offers an incredibly intuitive ride quality, effortless rail to rail transitions and an almost supernatural acceleration through turns. The rectangular outline combined with the deep Vee bottom provide a balanced volume distribution under the chest, this means it paddles really well and catches waves like a much longer board would. The Vader 2.0 still maintains a fine rail profile for sensitive rail control. Tomo reckons the Vader 2.0 is "the Fastest surfboard design in Modern Surfing" and will level up the surfing of anyone who rides it.
Tomo says for good surfers looking for maximum performance size Vader V2 at 5-6 inches shorter than your height ( or equal to the tip of ones nose) and then go for the lowest volume you're comfortable level or minus 1 L from a traditional performance shape. Its a 5 fin set up, ride it as a quad.
Dark Arts boards are all made in the USA, not farmed out to secondary factories anywhere else. By leveraging the lightweight compound of carbon fibre, Dark Arts surfboards promote a light-weight design that unites speed and agility with improved durability. Carbon Fibre is fast reacting and creates spring, unlike traditional fibre-glass cloth. The result of this natural rebound is speed and plenty of it! These DA boards are all hand crafted, then vacuum bagged, layered with carbon fibre cloth over a 2lb EPS stringer-less foam, this is all done for optimum flex, weight and durability. Dark Arts continues to redefine the limits for how surfboards are shaped and constructed.
Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Dark Arts and Tomo surfboards across Europe and beyond, we've been with them since the very start. Dark Arts surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing. We love the match up of two great surfing brains, Justin at DA and of course Tomo, the results are there for all to see.

I had a 5'10' that I took to Maldives. It was big and by that stage my vader was pretty old. I took it as a backup but ended up riding it every day. I cant believe they can improve on excellent.

I just bought one. Haven't even ridden it yet. With the new design, I see this being a lot faster than the original Vader. Fast like the original Vanguard, but much more maneuverable.
Ive only heard great things on the Vader 2.0.

I had a 5'9" Vader and I loved that board. Probably should have never sold it. This one looks amazing, but I am sure it is crazy expensive. Is this faster than an Evo?

I prefer the Evo. The Vader can feel slightly sluggish comparatively; it’s a bit nose heavy but on cleaner sharper surf it’s a blast.
