I am making my way through your trail videos and really enjoyed this. I really love north Mayo and have wandered a bit in what is now the Ballycroy National Park...though with a fishing rod mostly. That section through forestry from Bellacorick south looks pretty vast though. I agree that forestry roads are so boring, so hopefully this will be wound down over time as the development of this magnificent wild area carries on. When the weather clears and the evening light hits the Nephin Beg range, it is such an inspiring place in my opinion. Thanks for the great efforts you guys put in to bring these walks to the attention of the walking world.
Thanks! I worried once or twice when we started this project of sharing the “bad parts”, but if we didn’t it would be as rich or whole a project I think :)
I covered Bellacorick to Ballycastle yesterday. It was extremely flooded and the route has been allowed to become overgrown in places . Large planks of the boardwalk have rotted and broken off and there was a good few fallen trees blocking the path which I had to get around . It seems as if it’s not being looked after recently which is disappointing but I enjoyed the challenge all the same .
I know I'm meant to be watching for the trails, but honestly one of my favourite bits of the videos are when ye come out with random pieces of information like about the forest being re-wilded, or the history of some bridge, in some village in the middle of nowhere 😊 idk why, I guess it kinda gives the places more meaning? Like, otherwise ye could be walking in any random place at all. Yeah, anyway, sorry about the tangent 😅
Agreed. It's the stories and not just the walking, though the scenery is prettier than what I get to see here. I'm one of those odd people who sometimes likes to hear the history of a thing, even if it's just a recipe. "My mum always used to make this each holiday" or older story of "Way back when, this was first made by" kind of things. If a bridge has a story other than "somebody just wanted to cross a stream", then that adds to the interest. And many thanks for spelling my "name" right (with a Roman v). Many try to "correct" it with a u, but I am old and prefer the older letters. Oh, and good luck to Saz with learning Gaellig; hardest part is remembering the letters you see are not English ;) Had to correct a Scot once when she pronounced Cu Sith (Irish: Cu Sidhe) actually as COO Sith; C'u SHEE is closer, in English keyboard letters. Oh and I enjoyed the Sheep-ipedes :D
Connemara is very wild. I walked the section of the Western Way from Oughterard to Westport in the summer of 2004. The countryside was very much like near the end of this video.
Forestry that 'mars all decency of' view and views that 'My mind, that in itself before was wrapt, Its thought expanded, as with joy restored'; know your Dante Alighieri Purgatory Canto III 'Soon as his feet desisted (slackening pace) From haste, that mars all decency of act, My mind, that in itself before was wrapt, Its thought expanded, as with joy restored; And full against the steep ascent I set My face'.
It's a bit sad that young Irish people have Americanised accents. Little upward inflections at the end of sentences. As though they are ready out a list.

Really like the intro. Positions the video well. Like all the practical honest reporting as well. Makes it very real. Best video in a while. Thanks.

Hi I really enjoy your walks around Ireland I watch them while doing my exercise
Glad you like them! Sounds like a nice way to pass away exercising 😄

That’s not tangential at all! And we agree, those boys definitely help pull the whole thing together 🍃☺️

That stretch of the Western Way (the Galway part) is really nice, probably the best part of it, in our eyes.
Love the honesty. Any chance you could show the routes on a map, I'm rubbish at remembering place names..
Thanks! All the maps can be found here: www.irishtrails.ie/National_Waymarked_Trails/ ☺️
Just subscribed take care keep her lit👍👏
Thanks very much!
Where did this come from?
Speed sheep 👍
Have ye ever done any media? I'm sure you have some interesting takes on the the environment, tourism etc

Where in Ireland are you from?
Ellie is from Tipperary via lots of other places, and Carl is from Roscommon!
Karl, do a rag curl on your hair for the next video. I want to see that.
Too late, it's all gone! 🦲

Almost as sad as someone not reading their posts to check that they make sense before they hit the reply button!!!
