Thanks for sharing this beautiful video with us all. I am sorry you had such heavy backpacks. I wonder if you could get the luggage transported ahead? Just take a small backpack with a snack and the rain gear. Just an idea. Well done! I love Ireland, even the rainy weather. Thanks again Jarlath
Hey guys, Love to see u walking that way. My wife and I done it in 2017, but we walked it in the other direction from Oughtrad to Westport. So I can imagine how hard it must be to start in Westport after 5 days of walking and going up the rocky roads. Hardcore. We came over Moher down to Westport as we have done it. I guess you need holiday after u done it. I loved to see a lot of spots that we've seen, again. So thanx for your Video. This year we are hicking the Burren and Im realy excited on that. Greetings from Germany (the Home Fade gives us) to Eyre (the Home our Heart calls us)
1.Hi Guys, you looked a bit worse for ware at the end, have you thought any more about heading to England for the Pennine Way. The danger there was the amount of pubs on the way, I did about six miles to the gallon and after the 270 miles I had put weight on and you get a free drink in the pub at the end, The Border Hotel. 2.Get up when you feel good and sleep when you are tired, I have been on the trail at 5:00am and on other days still in my sleeping bag at 10:00am
Hello! Oh thanks, so glad you like our videos ☺️ So I don’t really walk far behind Carl, but sometimes I might stop to take a photo or film a view on my camera, and then Carl usually films me catching up to him. The easiest way we have to film each other is one person stand with the camera and the other person either walks to that person, or away from them! ☺️
I have watched Carl idly thinking about this for the last hour during dinner. I suspect he has it worked out for different varieties of cakes and weights of bag at this stage
Ah, that's how I (Carl) worked it out as well. An empirical estimate would be really hard to get, since could probably walk without the cake, we'd just be in a bad mood the whole time 😂
It depends on what you’re looking for! Some of our favourites include the Slieve Bloom Way, the Beara Way, the Blackwater Way, and the Barrow Way. All great for different reasons! - Ellie
Hey guys, love following your journey but I think you are missing a trick, there is more to this than just doing the trail. Myself and my wife do this northwards every year for our anniversary in a 2-day block and I love the experience, love our conversations, moments and achievements. Ok your feet are sore and you are wet but you are not immersing yourself in this fabulous landscape or engaging with your thoughts and experiences, I realise this is difficult when you are tired and going through some issues but maybe do not cover so much in the time you have. This is just my opinion as I really think you have everything else nailed down fantastically in your videos. Keep it up
Hi Liam, Thanks for the comment, always great to hear from people! This trail is on our list to revisit as I (ellie) has such a problem with my feet on it, and we’d like to experience it again. Over the two and a half years of walking we certainly had some amazing experiences, either with the beauty of a places or the people we met, and that’s a big part of walking. But on this particular trail not everything went smoothly and we thought it was important to share that part of hiking - sometimes is mind blowing and sometimes it’s just hard. It’s also hard to fit everything into a video! Hoping to head out to Galway again soon to see some more of it’s beauty (in more comfortable boots!).
@@ToughSoles well said Ellie I fully understand. The Famine trail is a short, historic and scenic track along the Killary harbour that is worth a look.
@@liamgavin2653 They are passing some beautiful spots, and pass them, as if they are a block of flats in Belfast. If scenery like that don't bring the poet out in you, nothing will :☺ ☺
Well done; you've given a tremendous boost, not only for patriots, but also healthy tourists. Thank you.

Hi I really enjoy watching you walks around Ireland I watch them while doing my exercise
Can I ask why Elle always walks so far behind you

@@ToughSoles ok that makes sense yeah I love the videos and very interesting and informative
At the end of all this I hope you have a good estimate of the efficiency of the human body fueled by cake. In km/cake. This is important science.
I have watched Carl idly thinking about this for the last hour during dinner. I suspect he has it worked out for different varieties of cakes and weights of bag at this stage
Apparently it’s 32km per 500g fruit cake
Tough Soles that's amazingly close to the rule of thumb calorie rate per 1km walked (assuming 1600kc per 500g cake) you are cake burning machines! 😁🍰

I like to ask a question to this perfect couple what is the first Way in Ireland for me
