It sounds like the u8n is better in almost everything but some highlights, and once the u9n comes out, it will be a clean sweep. We must try to get FOMO to use his elite/advanced contacts with Hisense to find out when that tv is coming.
Hey, Fomo. Greetings from Houston. I currently have a Samsung 85' QN90A. I want something bigger and better for a dark control room. I love OLED, but the G4 83' or 98' are too expensive. The Hisense 100' U8K is back to $3,000, and the 98' Sony X90L went down to $5,000. Is it worth the $2,000 difference? I also have a Sony OLED 77' X80J, so I know what Sony brings to the table in regards to processing and upscaling low content, but $2,000 is a lot. What would you recommend for size and price at these sizes ( 98-100). I don't do any gaming. I Just do streaming, OTA, and 4k UHD blu-ray movies. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks
FOMO the question is.. If you had to choose between the TCL and the U8N for your personal use which one would it be? Let's say that on Prime Day the U8N is $999 and the TCL $1199 which one would you purchase? 🤔
FOMO thank you ❤. You told me to buy this over the B7 and I did . I put it in my elderly neighbors home 75 inch and she is thrilled because I (you) saved her $500 dollars over the Sony . $1299 I got it on her Best Buy card 75 inch . She is over the moon 🎉
I own the 85", U8N and it's an excellent TV, it's not as good as an OLED but it's not far off and the Hisense is so much cheaper. As a budget TV it punches above it's class. either buy this Hisense or TCL, QM8 and you will be happy. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket go buy an OLED but for the rest of us on a smaller budget Hisense or TCL are perfect.

I just pulled the trigger on an A80CL 65" from Costco with a 5 year warranty for 1499. I know the LGs get a little brighter but I think the A80 will be plenty bright, it has an ATSC 3.0 tuner, and better processing. We use the antenna for local channels, all the majors are already 3.0 here and ABC & Fox both look substantially better in 1080P vs the 720 you get with 1.0. I could've done the C3 for $100 less but the tuner and superior audio alone were worth the spend. Now for the kiddie/surveillance I'm likely headed for the U7N. Thanks for so many fine & informative videos.
I picked up two weeks ago the 85 inch U8N, replacing a 77 inch Sony OLED A80J - So. I decided with the Hisense and got it for $1999. I was looking at the new TCLQM8 for 2024, but learned that the QD technology is not present in the 85 inch. So that was disappointing to me. Paris for the U8N over the OLED with my room application are bright HDR, low glare, and size for my application. Drawbacks are not as great at night, movies or very dark rooms, but still very acceptable. And not great at viewing angle, however, that’s not an issue for my set up an application.
Man, I can't calibrate my 85 for nothing. It's been a week and I'm thing of taking it back. It sucks because I was looking forward to this purchase but now I feel like I should have got the c4.
I need a 65" TV for a computer monitor for work as a sys admin, so mostly text. I am currently using a Samsung UN65JU7500 from 2016 and I am very happy with it, I use it morning and night but my wife also needs to use it to watch her TV shows. Would you recommend the U8N? or OLED? I can spend 30 minutes on the same screen only changing a few lines of text, would this cause burn-in?
@@gobofraggel7383 OLED is the best picture still. I specifically wanted an 85 inch TV and OLEDs make up to 83 inch so that’s why I went with the U8N. For the price point of this TV, it’s fantastic. The benefits are I like to leave my TV on and on my OLED I wouldn’t do that for image burn in. My room is fairly bright now and the screen is much brighter than my OLED and so I don’t have any issues with glare or things like that. It has fantastic blacks, deep, deep blacks, which is excellent. Of course it’s not going to be as good as an OLED for obvious reasons. This is less than half the price of the 83 inch OLED . I recommend it.
My only goal is to save someone, anyone from the horrors that come along with owning a Hisense TV. For the full version of my story and many similar stories. Just Google ‘Hisense problems’ or ‘I hate Hisense’. Their TVs are horrible and unreliable. I believe they have the worst reliability rating of all major manufacturers. And the Customer Service is just as bad. So if you have any issues, even if under warranty, good luck getting them to address it. As I write this I’m ‘Hard Reseting’ my TV probably for the 12th or more time. That’s back to factory settings. It will not fix any issues, for more than a minute. So please take my / our advice and just don’t purchase a Hisense TV. No matter how good it looks or how cheap it is.
@@Yoga_Tv_buying 75U6H. They eventually sent someone out. They replaced the main board and that seemed to fix the issues. I still don’t plan to buy another Hisense.
Honestly, I think the U9N will be more like the Bravia 9 because Hisense is taking Sony's approach to dimming zone control. At best its specular highlights will match the B9 but fall behind the QM8, however, its shadow detail and color volume/luminance should handily beat the U8N. In order to match QM851G specular highlights, U9N will have to deal with excessive brightness which is OK if they have a mode for it aka "Bright HDR Theater" which would be awesome!.
Asking you to look into your "CRYSTAL BALL" for me and recommend whether I should hold till the end of the year for 85" U8N, hoping for best pricing then? OR should I grab it before they are sold out? Don't think I'm gonna wait around for U9 deals in 2025.. I have an itch to scratch; moving up from Hisense 55H9G.. that I was very content with for 4 years
Oh dude they can turn it down at night . Like iPhone u turn it down at night take 5 seconds . Once u go to brighter phone (day time especially) u can not go back to dim . Just more clear 😊
I had the 55 u8n and definitely took it back before 30 days. I had black light issues, Blooming and halo, the back light would light up areas of the screen that should be dark . The youtube viewing was awful on dark RUclips videos the dolby vision was bad bad with back lighting it was like a grey haze over the whole screen. Apparently the 55 is different from the 65.. I'd advise against the 55 u8n I ended up with the qm8 and its a way better tv... the u8n was so bad I went to my vizio p Quantum to check the difference watching the same content and the vizio was better than the 55 u8n and that's saying something sorry I'm just sharing my experience. Maybe the 65 is better but the 55 was a bust i even updated the firmware from hisense and the tv was still broken
The Dolby vision was so bad on the 85 that I returned it….it made grain go crazy on Batman v Superman and the crow, unwatchable. Also local channels looked worse then my old Samsung ? Nice otherwise, very bright , good motion
@@stopthefomo 77" S90C still 2200 euros in my country, though i would spend that little extra for the OLED easily. Our prices include vat though, something to keep in mind.
Hmm. Hoping to get a response by today. I’m debating between the QM8 and the U8N. Currently have a Samsung 75” which went out on me in less than two years. My question is.. Is it worth dropping in size from 75” to 65” to gain better quality picture?
Yeah the 75” U8N U8K are best !! The 75” has d same screen of that 110” UX ! I have seen the 75” U8K in store it looks like the glossy black vibrant wet paint 🎨. They r so neat :)
Qm851 is good tho, just it will still have 🌈 smear on screen def not sever so I won’t care . But once u see the 75” U8K/U8N in bright store in person . U will understand. What special screen -- absorbs light than reflecting 💡 so when watching Dark content in bright room looks like a Star ⭐️ Trek portal
Absolutely. I have seen last year U8K 75” right under 77” Samsung S95D , Sony A95” in store . U can NOT tell that U8K 75” is LED . All d rest 5 other Panels around it were OLED / QD-OLED ! U8K with 3X Color density of LG G4(rich in color ) cast on brightness ! Dense clean visual ! That’s not even 2024 U8N . I would grab U8K U8N 75” any day :)
@@stopthefomosince I got your attention. I have one last question. I’m still torn between the U8N and an OLED. I’m trying to stay under $2,000 and that would more than likely land me with a 65” OLED. Any recommendations on an OLED around this price or go with the bigger U8N? I was initially set on the 65” S90D. But after all my research started to lean towards the bigger 75” U8N.
Im an oled guy? Now i have a s90d 55" in bedroom, but id like something huge like the u8n because of the price. Is the u8n a big step back from oled or its not an oled but very good or close?

The 75" version has an ADS Pro IPS panel which should have much better viewing angles than the VA panel across the other sizes. Not OLED level but a marked improvement.
The. U won’t like LG then . All LG LEDs n WOLEDs r green for decade even on vivid/standard mode . that Hisense Green is becusee in Theater /FMM mode has color filter .u can shed it in settings turn those off .
Are people constantly changing settings based on the content they watch? That would be so tedious and frustrating. Or do people find one setting and leave it alone?
I change all the time. Honeslty first time its confusing n like overwhelming. After like 3-4 weeks. U can do it with eyes shut. So fast. 💨 since all the U8 all tweak kinda similar so its like quite easy once u get 1 Hisense, d rest all similar. Kinda like Making pasta. Once u make 1 pasta all the time, u do NOT even measure just dump salt pepper butter etc. Every show takes like 5 seconds. NO joke, Once u have one u can NOT go back to “lack of setting” type of things.
This tv is about to be released here in Brazil. I want the 75" for the price. And this video was realeased in time, because I found out yesrerday that the 75" uses ips panel. Is that true? If so, ips panek usually has worst picture comparing to va panel. So is way worst comparing with the u8n va panel?
ADS pro has 2X contrast Ratio of ADS! It’s not IPS it’s not ADS.😊 it’s more premium than VA in my opinion . I have seen it (75” U8K ! Mind blown ) . I am getting 1.
Hey, I'm also from Brazil, and I'm really looking forward to the 75U8N, but the recent discount of the TCL 75C755 at R$7200 in 10x almost made me pull the trigger. Do you have any idea of when Hisense will launch the 75U8N here? Also, Rtings said they bought the 75U8N, I am waiting for their review.

Went for this 65inch over an LG C3 oled on offer as I have a very bright room during the day, using with an Nvidia shield TV Plex server and an PS5, wasnt dissapointed at all. It isnt far off OLED quality, maybe 10-15%
U9N has…ADS-PRO (2 X contrast ratio of ADS) . It has the MOST Glossy (more glossy than OLED) Wet Black /red/green/ yellow paint type of look . I have seen pics from EU(they call it UX 65” 85”). I would AIM for U9N if i have Bravia9 budget.
Do you have an analog audio setup? Might be a better normal reference than using another tv like the G4 (like using a vinyl record, or raw recorded audio or something)
Im curious about these since they r top tier quality and affordable, but i cannot get over any of these mini led’s being va panels. I just feel like va is whack as hell with weird ghosting, bad viewing angles, and most importantly a shitty, unpleasing white point compared to qd oled and quantum dot IPS. IPS feels more elegant. I just got the Innocn 32” mini led and it’s fantastic. I feel like it’s on the same level as my s95b as far as hdr is concerned.
Well u have not had the Those for of VA panels once u go VA it’s very Hard to go back to IPS. The ADS-PRO resolve the angle issue tho. 180 degree viewing angle 📐, 2X contrast of ADS , 600hz screen refresh rate . 75” U8N U7N , Then U9N , UX :) 😊
@@Yoga_Tv_buying i wanna see ads-pro and i’m hoping that once the dimming zones start climbing to the tens of thousands, blooming with ips won’t be as much of an issue. I’m sure the contrast for va will still be better at that point. Maybe i should just get every kind of display. Oled is the most elegant, but it most definitely doesn’t provide the same level of punch in bright scenes. So off angle viewing of ads-pro does better with blooming cause this Innocn display is have def struggles with that. What VA would u recommend? I have 55” qd oled, 32” qd oled, and 32” ips mini led.

Pick my 65 inch up on Saturday from BB. I returned last years U8K due to awful grey uniformity. Made sports unwatchable for me. How is the uniformity on yours?
Since you asked, I’m avoiding the U8N for the VRR bug RTINGs mentioned. It’s the same bug the U8K had that Hisense never bothered to address. Also, I’m very leery of Hisense support. Awful experience dealing with them last year. And then there’s the matter of buggy firmware updates lately according to recent forum posts. I’m just scared off of Hisense at this point.
That's good to hear. Thanks. U8K owners seem to be complaining about a recent update more than U8N owners this time around. Heck, even Sony burned X900H owners more than once with a questionable update. No brand is 100% safe.

@@CarsandCats From what I've read the response time of ADS Pro panels are better than VA panels so the motion should be handled better in theory. But given I have neither version of these TVs I can't assure you anything.
At this stage of the game, it's absolutely pointless to count dimming zones - it's more important to review how well those zones do their job: (1) tone mapping specular highlights (2) black levels (3) blooming/ghosting/halo. The whole point of local dimming is to improve performance of 1, 2, 3.
@Yoga_Tv_buying Is that for the QM851G, or the U8N? Because I'm trying to compare dimming zones for both models of those sizes. TCL claims 5000 dimming zones, but I want to know if it is for only the 85-inch+ models, or also the 75-inch.
@@TonyTundra5.7 Wrong, wrong, wrong - I was very wrong when I made that comment.. The U8N is an absolute turd when it comes to black level consistency. What I discovered is that no matter what you do, no matter what settings you change, the letterbox bars are constantly fluctuating. Sometimes they're inky black, and other times they look like something you'd expect on a $300 LCD. The local dimming algorithm on this TV is utter trash, and I ended up returning mine. I purchased a Samsung QN85D, which has a measly 160 local dimming zones, yet vastly-and I do mean vastly-better black level performance than the U8N. This is because it has far better processing and uses an amazing algorithm. Hisense has always cheaped out on processing, and they simply do not have the horsepower to adequately control all of those local dimming zones. I really wanted to like the U8N, but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. My Samsung utterly destroys the Hisense in all the things that matter most to me: color production, processing, black level performance, and motion handling. Definitely not as bright though-not even close. Still, for a thousand bucks, the U8N is killer. Do not respond by claiming that your letterbox bars are always inky black. They are not-do not degrade yourself by lying
I rarely recommend these TVs for gaming only because firmware updates change things (good or bad LOL) and it depends on the game you play as well as your needs. It's fine in 4K60 HDR but true 120 VRR is always a crapshoot IMO.
I have my gaming PC connected via hdmi 2.1 to my new 85 inch U8N and game at 120Hz, 10 bit color, full RGB and HDR no problem. I did notice that when the TV is in gaming mode, it lowers the local dimming a bit so the contrast is not as high as watching movies but its really just trying to nitpick... Overall, looks great and I had no bugs with the VRR using my Nvidia RTX 4080.
X90L is def more crusty cuz it has 42000:1 contrast , U8N is 290000:1. X95L is 200000:1 . U8N will look very much QD-Oled . Becusee Its color Volum3/Density match Samsung S95C. Great review buddy! I tried keeping up with your settings changes but it all went a bit too quick for me at times. Lol 🎉 However, the 65” U8N has a VA panel and the 75” has the ads panel I believe. How much different do you think the 75/85” will be compared? 🎉 I have the Q90C and can tell there is a big deference with the Q90D having different panels. Also, love that you standardized your 65” size reviews, but imo the reason I would even consider the Hisense or tcl is specifically because their 75/85/98” sizes are more affordable. 🎉. I’d prefer to get the best quality 65” if restricted to that size. 🎉

At 15.56. That Copa America game where Brazil was 1-0 up. I think Colombia drew or won.
I gave my U8K (This year's U7N) to my dad before I bought an S90C and S95D.
The U8 series is no joke, they are very nice TVs

@@Doyourownresearch00 what’s the issue you are having with U8N specifically on calibration?
Great review😊 definitely a good TV for the average consumer. They should be thrilled to have a TV like this for a excellent price😊

Hey FOMO, when can we look forward to the U7N review
FOMO, do you think the U9N will have brighter specular highlights like the QM8
Honestly, I think the U9N will be more like the Bravia 9 because Hisense is taking Sony's approach to dimming zone control. At best its specular highlights will match the B9 but fall behind the QM8, however, its shadow detail and color volume/luminance should handily beat the U8N. In order to match QM851G specular highlights, U9N will have to deal with excessive brightness which is OK if they have a mode for it aka "Bright HDR Theater" which would be awesome!.
@@stopthefomo Ok, cool! Thanks for your detailed answer 👍
Really like your review format Mr. Fomo and always refer to individual use case. Btw, do you plan on any 98" tv reviews?
I want to know about the 55 inch since Hisense shorted the dimming zones and brightness.

There has only been one firmware update so far (65") and most of us have not had any issues with it.
That's good to hear. Thanks. U8K owners seem to be complaining about a recent update more than U8N owners this time around. Heck, even Sony burned X900H owners more than once with a questionable update. No brand is 100% safe.
no mention of local dimming...
55" Hisense 55U8N 672 VA
65" Hisense 65U8N 1,600 VA
75" Hisense 75U8N 2,000 ADS Pro
85" Hisense 85U8N 1,296 VA
100" Hisense 100U8N 1,620 VA
Thats how many dimming zones dimming zones from Rtings. I would avoid the 55 inch version but above that its incredible.
@@vherostar ADS Pro or VA for gaming?
@@CarsandCats From what I've read the response time of ADS Pro panels are better than VA panels so the motion should be handled better in theory. But given I have neither version of these TVs I can't assure you anything.
@@vherostar And personally I'd avoid the 75" too due to the ADS panel (worse native contrast).
At this stage of the game, it's absolutely pointless to count dimming zones - it's more important to review how well those zones do their job: (1) tone mapping specular highlights (2) black levels (3) blooming/ghosting/halo. The whole point of local dimming is to improve performance of 1, 2, 3.
How many dimming zones does both the 2024 QM8 and U8N have for both 75-inch and 85-inch models?
2000 n 1296
@Yoga_Tv_buying Is that for the QM851G, or the U8N? Because I'm trying to compare dimming zones for both models of those sizes. TCL claims 5000 dimming zones, but I want to know if it is for only the 85-inch+ models, or also the 75-inch.
Edit- U8N black level performance is terrible with constant fluctuating letterbox bars.
You are exactly right My settings too no lifting in the black bars at all awesome TV

How is this tv for gaming? My u8h is very bad at 4k 120hz hdr :(
I rarely recommend these TVs for gaming only because firmware updates change things (good or bad LOL) and it depends on the game you play as well as your needs.
@@brunan-gi147you would enjoy it more on a Sony LG or Samsung.
I really loved my u8h for 4k120 HDR. Just gotta play with the settings.
@@kbdadriftking that tv is not capable of doing it, when it does it halves the pixels in order to display otherwise its very bad
How do these compare with the Sony X90L which costs about the same and is still being made?
X90L is def more crusty cuz it has 42000:1 contrast , U8N is 290000:1. X95L is 200000:1 .
U8N will look very much QD-Oled . Becusee Its color Volum3/Density match Samsung S95C. X90L color volume is about X95K level , spend 8.5/10 (Rtings) d brighter the tv d Denser Color Volume make it more 3D/clean pop . 🥬 vs 🧩
90l has superior processing chip and color accuracy. dont listen to the yoga bot commenting on everyones post here.
@@aliazimi91 Lets put Apple Mac Pro with M4 chip with screen n blooming low contrast to see how that will upscale. Color accuracy is NOT important. @@aliazimi91 Based on last year's Rtings measurements and reviews by Caleb from Digital Trends, I went with the X90L because I'm NOT willing to give up on color quality for brightness alone, especially for $1,300 for a 65-inch to $2,000 for an 85-inch. For now, the X90L still seems to excel in so many areas of performance at once, especially for its similar price. Only in the event Rtings's measurements suggest the TCL 2024 QM851G has equal pre-calibration color accuracy and PQ EOTF tracking would I EVER consider seeing if anyone would buy my X90L locally and replace it with the 2024 QM8 for that extra brightness. But until those numbers are in, don't rule out the X90L just yet.
I feel so bad because I bought my 1200 QM8 2024 like 2 wekks ago ... now its a 1000
Hey Fomo ! Love the video . Do you have a way for me to send you a photo of my new 75 U8N screen ? I would like your opinion on something weird.
Buying a Hisense is risky. Reports of models failing after a few years or with glitches and other problems. Maybe wait a few years for Hisense to get their QA under control.
That’s perception. Consumers r biased (they train us in Markrting , tier n pricing ). For example a few yr ago Apple so skechy that purposely send Firmware update to speed up kill battery in their flagship IPhone before new phone launch . Ppl paid $1480 n phone battery die fast , phone got slow . How skechy is that !!! 😮 why did ppl just forget about it ? Cuz ppl decided they don’t care , they still see it as “Good product “ . 😮 BUT if ppl have Large dogs , I anyone inform them :” small Yorkshire terrier (yorkie ) has Intellegence of Human 3 yr old child . Ranked smartest in small/ toy breed dog. Becusee they hunt vermins which r already smart/fast , they have to play strategy. Significantly higher EQ/IQ than Siberian Husky n number of large breeds survive in speed n endurance “ 😮 most Ppl have LARGE dogs that think small dogs r stupid or happy 😮will get OFFENDED 😅. Especially ppl own Husky because its GORGEOUS looks , wolf like face n Masculine features . “Yo u know all dogs r intelligent , Husky is average to lower side “ that will make them --- reject the TRuth , n seek ppl tell
Them what they want to hear !
Human r 100% biased , if they feel towards the brand they will shred or bank/pile anything they want to hear , block anything don’t fit their narrative. 😊 what u hear Hisense fills your Narritive , n it creates an opinion which make us belive its truth.
I have 2 U8 , 2.8 3.8 yr in $2500 USD later . Best money spent .
My buddy’s parents have 2 BMW bought brand new , both have issues 😮brand new have to go back to shop. My friends swear will never buy BMW , kept telling me he hates BMWs cuz not good car in quality n road handling . I could NOT register lol at time listening 😮😂😅 but “I WISH I have 1 “
In a couple of years, I would want another one. So I'm good with it. Especially for a third of the price.

I have a script that runs on all my computers and streaming the blocks all NBA and NFL - ads, games, everything - will this keep the TV from working since they are a major sponsor of the hideous NBA?

You are officially banned from talking about the Bravia 9 until you spend time with the 85.
Saw the B9 85 and the 77 A95L at Best Buy today and it's a true war.
@@MrUpscaleman Right!
It's a war until the B9 is flanked by the A95L (viewing angles) 🤣
@rkeith7766 except that is meaningless to me because I don't have ultrawide seating.
I spent a part of my hour testing viewing angles and it's HEAVILY overrated. There's no spot in where you would normally watch TV that the view is substantially impaired.
Have you seen one or are you just going off what other people have said?
Is the 55” as good as 65” for the one model U8N?

The U8N's sound is quite impressive. The TCL sounds like a tin can in comparison. Oh wait. It's not "sibilant". Yeah. Exactly.
Nothing personal but that was WAY TOO MICH TIME spent on tv audio. Lol
Great review buddy! I tried keeping up with your settings changes but it all went a bit too quick for me at times. Lol 🎉
However, the 65” U8N has a VA panel and the 75” has the ads panel I believe.
ADS will give you better off angle viewing!
@@stopthefomoYes true but the trade off is worse contrast. I wanna know how major the difference in contrast compare the to the 65 inch is.

I’m not a fan of filmmaker mode and could care less about a reference monitor. Nice video though

I don't trust the components inside Hisense or TCL, they are cheaper for a reason, if you change TV's every few years it doesn't really matter but I'd rather buy a high end model and keep it for at least 5 years.
