  • C-3PO's basic shape was inspired by Maria, the robot in Metropolis. Sculptor Liz Moore gave C-3PO more specific characterizations under the direction of Production Designer John Barry.

This is the first time I've heard anybody call Anthony Daniels Tony.

It's too bad Liz Moore never lived to see her creation in Star Wars. She died in a car accident in August of 1976.

buzz lightyear Super late on the reply game, but thank you for bringing this up. It’s nice to see someone talk about Liz Moore, and your comment should definitely get more attention that just some guy who really enjoyed the filmmaking process of the films.

"The suit was actually an Empire Strikes Back suit that we painted." And just like that he turned a collector's piece worth a couple million into one worth virtually nothing.

I mean, it's definitely still worth a lot, but I can't believe that in 2000 they thought it was alright to completely destroy the original paint job. They certainly could have had made a replica, as many fans would have already done at that point (and I'm sure many would have been more than happy to have their suits repainted so that they can be in the movie). It's pretty unforgivable.

if you ask me now it's worth more, used both in Empire Strikes Back and attack of the clones.

At least they're better than the sequels... Can't believe we live in the timeline where the prequels were topped....Oi
