Teacher pay and funding is too low. Why aren't we paying our teachers realistic salary. They teaching the inheritors of our country. Teachers shouldn't have to foot there bill for supplies for their students.
You are paid based on the value you bring and the money your work creates. Teachers don't bring in any revenue. They need their salaries cut if anything.

Nicole Carr is an activist, not a journalist. The fact that she was presented as the latter lends credibility to the claims of bias against the Atlanta Press Club.
What questions that she asked do you have a problem with? If it's substance and not politics you care about, it should be easy to name one.
When incumbent's job is on the line this exactly is how they behave during debates..fidgety restless and stuttering to the point of being incoherent..That is exactly the person who almost don't show up..

Teachers aren't held to the same standard they used to be & it shows. Anyone who opposes in-classroom teacher evaluations isn't too concerned with the quality of education in public schools.
Who creates the evaluation
Rather than an across the board pay raise, teachers' pay should be merit based. Not every teacher is an effective teacher.
merit pay based on what??? Achievement scores vary based on the population. To ask a ESE, ESOL, AP, and/or Gifted teacher to compete with one another on pay is ridiculous

The effectiveness of a teacher is determined by the pay. Pay a teacher less, then your best teachers will leave the district. Pay them more, and you'll attract better teachers who will make the pay worth it.
And what accountability is placed on the students?
So, her qualifications are "as a parent of school aged children". Seemed too rehearsed to me.

Starting pay for teachers should be 90k and then goes up. For what they have to deal with and put up with 65k still isn't enough.

90k? canadian teachers start with about 50 thousand dollars a year and work up their way to up to 80-100 thousand. starting with 90k is insane.

90k is too much, imo, and I was a teacher. 65k to start is very fair. And also, working in customer service or at a call center is also draining work and also not worth a measly 40k. Sadly there are a lot of jobs out there that pay peanuts, but trying to increase to 90k is taking advantage of a system. That’s 10k less than starting engineers at tech companies earn.

What do u I tend to replace it with and insure the kids in th his state are in parity with kids in other states or better served?
Standardized tests have no real value. The top countries for education take between 1 and 4 standardized tests in a lifetime while American kids take 14000 by highschool graduation. They are in no way a measure of knowledge

How about letting overachieving teachers go through security training so that they are better prepared and able to protect students? Then, due to their extra role, increase their pay since they're helping fill the security gap. Thoughts on that incentive??

CRT is an advanced graduate level law theory. Which states if just about all racist people no longer exist in the US. You would have to look at the laws and statutes and how they disenfranchise people.
I taught my daughter about all of American history and she taught her teacher. But her teacher says because of these crazy laws she cannot and is afraid to teach what really happened in American History.
CRT being taught in elementary and high school would just teach children to judge their peers by the color of their skin. It's an advanced graduate level law theory for a reason. It shouldn't be taught to children.

Pay must always be tied to results. Learning gains are easier at poor/public/black/inner-city/title 1 schools. If you raise reading level from 1 to 3, you get higher pay than if raised from 4 to 5. No Gain, No Pay!
