04 Rock This Town
Arguably the most popular band of the 80s psychobilly scene, the Guana Batz were beyond a doubt the most impressive live act on the circuit. Formed in Feltham, Middlesex in 1983 the band underwent several changes through the 80s but always maintained their high standard of live performance, becoming the number one headline act at many psychobilly festivals (an honour that still occurs throughout Europe today) and playing to packed houses on a regular basis. Their Klub Foot gigs are the stuff of legend, selling out every time and guaranteeing rain within the venue when condensation levels became virtually stifling.
Live Over London was recorded over two days at the Klub Foot in 1987

It was great back then, took a ferry from Sweden on Friday mornin' got a BnB near Clarendon, and then went to a boozer, and then to Klub Foot! And, you could always get a ticket, not as today, have to buy a ticket at least 3-6 months ahead...what's the fun in that?! It was better in the old days!!!
so long ago.... the best times of my life so far
The Psycho scene was never the same after KlubFoot closed, Night of the Long Knives at the Hummingbird the crescendo. Saturday routine, morning preening the quiff, vodka and orange juice on the train journey to London, stop off at Carnaby Street and High Street Kensington. Then on to the Clarenden, the best of times. Past the door bouncers, up the stairs, bar on the left, big ballroom on the right. Saw more than one opening support band literally being bottled off the stage. Whole night of live bands for about a fiver. Suppose everyone has their teenage highlight years, so glad mine was in this scene and a regular at the Clarenden. Fuck the London Hammersmith planners!!
Only The Meteors were pure Psychobilly.

this was such a great time
Saw them with my Brother at Top Rank in Plymouth back in 80's
I'd foolishly moved out of London by this time - I had no idea how localised Psychobilly was. I never saw the Batz again. Was at the Clubfoot weekly until that and the Batz were the best. Good days.
Fortnightly, wasn't it? I remember turning up on the wrong night, no Klub Foot but there was a punk gig in the basement. I liked the crowd but the music wasn't my thing so I went to Shades rockin' '50s club in Shepherd's Bush to meet my 'mate'. Who was too much of a cool dick to acknowledge me in front of his Shades mates so I didn't stay there long, either.
