Having worked in local government, I can tell you that firing a city or county employee is extremely difficult, even "with cause". And it's bogus to pay for a "consultant" to write up corrective action items for things that will never be accomplished, which is usually the remedy that the parties will agree to in situations like this.
The mayor does not have the power to fire the chief if the city has a Police and Fire commission. The commission does the hiring and firing of those departments.
It's a new chief that's there now. he wasn't there when the texts were sent .I think they wanted to show those racist pigs they weren't in charge so they got a police chief that they would hate just for the color of his skin . He put them on administrative jobs until the investigation is over so they can't use arbitration to get their job back for due process

But were they wrong? I'm getting tired of black folks pretending that these black areas are crime free, thriving, and they're just living a normal productive life as a tax payer. Black folks beg for more policing and when the "community" get more policing they will say that the police that they wanted are mistreating blacks who aren't paying for their services with their tax dollars in the first place. So how the police department are suppose to get paid? With traffic violations, arrest, convictions, and receiving tax dollars from other areas/sources that needs to be paid back. This is the recipe that is happening in this "community". Black folks want everyone to change each time the wind blows but they do not want to change for the greater good.
We need good minded people to have badges.
We need public full disclosure hiring process. We need to understand how they choose these guys. We need to see the boss”s process and involvement. Do he teacher about consequences and brokering public trust?
We need video showing the process. Not sign documents saying everything was talked about and covered.

Some 39 years a go I lived in Antioch. From the early 70's -1986. Even back then Antioch PD had some problems. This how ever pails in rather sharp contrast. I would have never expected this debachery. These citizens have every right to be angery and demand action now.
I used to live in Stockton I avoided the 4 when Driving to Vallejo Anti Itch Dirty all the time..

Every arrest & stop they made can easily be scrutinized, especially, if they have people on the record saying they feel like it was racially motivated. If found to be true, give them the same punishments that anyone wrongly accused would've gotten or has gotten. Add it up and let them feel what it's like to actually do time.

@posthocprior The DA has asked the FBI to Investigate Antioch PD for racist, homophobic, sexist messages. Also, 1). K9 officer Morteza Amiri’s dog has bitten 22 people since 2019. Far more than any other officer in the department. He has made racists comments and texts about minority residents. 3). Eric Rombaugh has been found to use excessive force and he’s made inaccurate police reports. The DA has dismissed cases where Amiri and Rombaugh were the arresting officer.
What’s scary about this is if the nurses at a major hospital made these same remarks they’d be suspended immediately and fired. Who would trust their healthcare with medical staff that hates them?
These officers get lifetime healthcare and a pension of 90% of their highest salary plus overtime, cash out VA and Sick Pay when they retire and this all comes at the youthful age of 57 yrs old. Can you imagine being paid all of that? They should F’ing tow the line and get therapy to get through the job until they reach the promised land.

The officers also admitted to committing crimes, violating constitutional rights, threatening to kill the mayor (felony), and numerous other violations of police ethics. And this is to say nothing of the numerous crimes the FBI is currently investigating them on which is how these text got revealed in the first place.
You can't use the excuse "my job is hard cause I deal with bad people" to excuse felonies. If your job is so stressful it causes you to threaten to kill your mayor (assassination) then you need to get another job.
