- This old 7-incher was released in the USA as the A-side of CASF-3105 by Capitol in 1952, and is part of my personal collection. Don't view it as Candido trying to out-Mercer Jack Mercer -- it's just a kiddie single. Anyway, I ripped its contents for my enjoyment and created this video hoping to share it with others who appreciate hard-to-find and obscure recordings. Should the current copyright holders require its removal from this site I will comply.

I always thought Candido was capable of Popeye judging by his Apple Tree voice in The Wizard of Oz. Thanks for sharing!
And also the Indian chief from Peter Pan.
Popeye is feelin' mighty low
Wow, I'm so glad I found this. I'm a bass and since I found this recording I'm trying to recreate this for a recital. Three months later I'm still trying to hit that bottom. I know everyone has their limits but I keep getting closer to the end goal. Although I'll never be Candy Candido levels of amazing ar this piece. Tha is for sharing this!
whats especially crazy is that he can go up to like B5 or C6 too and have a G#1 as good as the one at the end of this song
Sung by the chief from Peter Pan
Imagine Candy Candido as Popeye!
Aaron Handy III that would have been so awesome
Even to fill in for Jack Mercer!
He would have been better than that drunk-sounding guy from "Be Kind to 'Aminals'"!
Popeye the Blues Singing Man.
the music sounds like it's made by Disney
Mostfunnyman well Candy Candido did several voice for Disney
This honestly feels like something from an alternate universe, where King Features Syndicate licensed Popeye to Disney instead of Paramount.
You can almost see the 1940’s style animation Disney would make to go with Candy’s voice. It’s kinda eerie...
@@forrestcalkins93 woah cool

Please, someone please upload Candy Candido's "You're Nothing but a Nothing." It is terrific and the B side is him doing and his falsetto and his gruff voice singing "Who's That Knocking at My Door?" as Barnacle Bill, the Sailor.
