    Damn, i've been modeling for over 35 years and never knew this was possible. Very good tutorial and I will use it on my own Eduard Spitfires.

    Recent news is that eduard has embraced this bug and turned it in to a feature on their new digitally printed decals by increasing the varnish thickness to make peeling them easier and more reliable.

    I tried this method on a paint mule before committing to an actual build...fortunately. There are many variables that can make it work or not. In my case the decal gets ripped off every time.

    I have always disliked carrier film as it can be seen in most cases, this is a fantastic fix that thanks to you I can use with Eduard transfers. Thanks.

    Thank you
    your guide has helped me to apply my decals on two models of eduard spitfire MK Ia and BF-109 E7
    I really like the finish of the decal when removing the transparent film, however, in some decals when putting the tape to lift the film transparent, certain pieces of the decal have come off, which sometimes I can say looks good, I consider it wear on the plane, I'm trying to identify what I'm doing wrong in the process, maybe the surface is not completely smooth, maybe not I remove some small bubbles under the decal
    I hope soon to make them perfect
    regards !!

    After the piling of the film, can we put varnish to protect the decals? And another one, we can do this to other decals company like Revell for example!?

    • @LesChroniquesduBlindage
      @LesChroniquesduBlindage  3 года назад +2

      Sure, you can apply another coat of varnish once the top film is removed. This process won't work with decals from other companies, except when they are clearly told as Wet transfer. Thanks for watching, cheers

    Have you tried using enamel thinners to remove the film?

    • @LesChroniquesduBlindage
      @LesChroniquesduBlindage  2 года назад +1

      Hi, no I didn't. I am not confident in using thinner on them. I guess some have tried alcohol to remove the film and get pretty good result. Cheers

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench 2 года назад +1

      @@LesChroniquesduBlindage please try with enamel thinner. It works on most normal decals. Obviously the enamel thinner will not at tack your clear coat.

    Eduard needs to go back to Cartograph, their new decals suck and they are not made to remove the carrier film. It is use at your own risk and the outer edge of the carrier film is extremely jagged.
    Another thing is the color register with the new decals, the color sucks too and are not rich and vibrant. I'm all for Eduard trying to make their own decals, but cartograph is going be hard to beat.
    Also, the stencils are an absolute pain to do now, What a joke.

    • @ModelNerd

      I found this with their new Spitfire. Uneven colour and very dull too, and the film clearly stands out when they are applied. The decals really detract from the kit. I'm very close to ripping them off with strong tape and buying an aftermarket decal set.

      Sadly Special Hobby use this kind of decals at their otherwise fantastic 1/72 Bf 109 E kits too. I damaged them at peeling the clear film off and needed to bought a aftermarket decal sheet. 😫

    So Eduard make decals with bad top film and leave it to us to deal with it.?..Thanks to people like you for showing us the best way to use these new decals.👍..But I can’t help thinking that Eduard have really shot themselves in their own foot with the new decals..I predict that Eduard either improve their new decals.Or officially make the new system of top film removal explained or made easier.
    Thank you for this video on Eduard’s new decals and how to use them..I will try your method.!..Thank you again and take care🇬🇧✌️🥸👍

      Apparently according to Eduard, they were completely unaware that this would happen with the decals. The top film peeling was not supposed to happen.
      Officially they don't recommend removing of you, but you could do it if you want but at your own risk. (which is not particularly helpful as they don't give instructions how to do it)

  • @Juno58
