  • Once again into the breach. Trying to figure out why the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, ABS, BRAKE and CEL lights are lit up in our Gen 1 Toyota Sequoia, this time using the Bluedriver OBD2 dongle and app. What could possibly go wrong?
I hope this gives you something to amuse you for a little while. Why not check out some of my other videos while you've got some idle time on your hands?

Not even Ratarossa, Scotty Kilmer, The Car Wizard, Johnny the Car Ninja, Hoovie or Tavarish would dare tackle the insanity of resurrecting and modifying a 206,000 mile Corrado VR6 at the same time as a vintage Fiat Spider and maintaining a 230,000 mile 1.8t Jetta while tooling around in a 166,000 mile Mk4 R32 daily driver!! But I'm a special kind of crazy.
If you have an .:R32, Corrado, Fiat, Alfa, or some other weird quirky car that is a challenge to keep on the road, please share in the comments! If you've got a Sequoia, have pity on the other car owners whose vehicles will not outlast the rest of civilization as we know it.

The YAW sensor on the ‘02 Sequoia is under $50 and takes about 15 minutes to swap out. Mine is under the console as well and I swapped it out about an hour ago. My VSC and TRAC OFF lights were going on intermittently and causing an awful grinding noise within the ABS system. Once the lights came on (VSC and TRAC disabled), the grinding would stop. Now the lights are on, but no more grinding. Never had the CEL come on.

That's a notorious culprit, and so are the steering angle sensor, both of the brake light switches (one on each brake pedal), and the thrust sensor in the brake booster. Lots can go wrong that causes the VSC/Trac/ABS system to be unhappy.
Also worth mentioning that when you replace the Yaw sensor or the steering angle sensor, you have to do a zero point calibration.
