Fire vid🔥 Do you guys ever experience athletes who toss heavier balls better than their 5 oz. Every mound weighted ball velo day I’m tossing my 6oz harder than my 5oz. Last velo day I was 85-88 with 6oz and then 83-84 5oz with an 87-88 4oz. Just wondering if other athletes have had more success with heavier balls?
Yes, however you should first see if you're using the right tools. If you use leather weighted baseballs you need to use a stalker radar gun to measure the speed accurately. Typically leather weighted baseballs read higher on pocket radar than they actually are. Plyo balls are usually read correctly. If you are using a stalker and this is happening, guys who throw the heavier balls faster than whats estimated usually are on the stronger end, and guys who throw lighter balls faster than estimated are guys who can move faster. Typically we see 3 mph from each ounce on Driveline weighted leather baseballs. So a 6 oz should be around 3 mph less than your baseball and a 4 oz would be 3 mph more than a baseball. 7 oz 6 mph, 3 oz 6 mph etc... This isn't always exactly the numbers everyone will see but it's a good average to see if you are lopsided in heavy/light balls. Hope this helps!
@@treadathletics appreciate the info! Def makes sense I am on the bulkier side of a pitcher, 6’0 210 BW. But, will be shooting for those differences between balls thanks again!
@@treadathletics I’ve heard that the grey plyo ball resembles the velocity of a regular baseball. Ex: if I topped out 90 with a great ball this would convert to me topping out 90 with a baseball. Is this true?
@@evanstojanovic2498 the grey plyo is 100 grams and a regular baseball weighs somewhere around 145 grams so the yellow 150g plyo ball would be the closest to a baseball in terms of weight
Insanely good vid: what I took from the first couple minutes about each pitch & the respective velo rises aren’t 1:1 is that you don’t need big arms to throw hard
Hey coach I throw allot harder on the flat ground then mound idk if I’m slowing down on the mound unconsciously or if it’s a mechanics thing but I feel like I do the same on the mound and flat ground and have a decent drift
Idk if you’ve already addressed this but how did you get into this space all these videos are so great I think I’ve watched every pitching channel on RUclips I’d love to do this sort of thing after I hopefully play in college and maybe pro all
I know I disappointed on todays video by not being first but I was wondering if you could help me with becoming a tread athlete. Do I need to book an appointment of some sort and if so, where can I do that? Thank you
The pdf on drills and weighted balls is the best, most comprehensive info ever. Thank you!
Do you still have that pdf?

I specifically remember they did have an athlete who threw a 6 oz harder, and they did a post and/or blog about it. But this was a little while ago
