"Maybe I am." Rocket doesn't know what a Build-A-Bear is, but he gets the message and knows he's being insulted. It doesn't faze him. Little exchanges like this made the movie so good.
Lmao, such growth, he use to want to blow a hole in your head for insulting him in past movies, but he sees a bigger picture, and doesn't allow insults to get the better of him.
Or he weirdly _has_ heard of Build-A-Bear and is referring to the experiments done on him where he was assembled in a lab. Build-A-Bear was founded in 1997, after Quill left Earth, but it was in Missouri so there's a chance he or Rocket looked it up at some point. Yandu got his hands on a Zune somehow so that type of Earth-news clearly gets to space.
Tony's throwaway comment of him mistaking Rocket for a stuffed animal comes off as (unintentionally) so much meaner. He is effectively a Build-A-High-Functioning-Lifeform.
What's really impactful about this scene is that Rocket doesn't give some wise cracked response, he just says "Maybe I am". He lost almost every friend he ever had. There's only him and Nebula now. He...he just doesn't give a shit anymore.
Especially since every other time someone calls him something else, like Raccoon, Trash Panda, Vermin, Rabbit, he either flies off the handle or questions it. This time he just accepts it because he doesn't have any fight left in him.
Rocket's reply is actually really Heart breaking right now he's so just numb to everything around him that he doesn't even have a smartass remark to give Tony like he normally would thankfully Tony backed off realizing this.
@@sbcs2809Don't get the wrong idea I don't think Tony had any cruel or malicious intentions I think he was genuinely just trying to lighten the mood with a joke but no one was in the mood for that.
“I didn’t ask to get made I didn’t ask to be torn apart and put back together over and over and turned into some little monster” connect this line and this build a bear scene
Rocket is so despondent and heartbroken from the loss of his new family that Tony could probably have called him the dreaded R-word (raccoon), and Rocket probably wouldn’t have cared.
Honestly, this just be one of my favorite quotes in movies. This made me laugh so much. It’s so simple & exactly what I think someone say upon seeing(what we on Earth of course)would define as a talking raccoon. Let alone after floating in space for days on end.
This scene feels more emotional after guardians 3. When I saw this scene, I kinda chuckled because the atmosphere felt different. But now the atmosphere feels very gloomy
As amusing as Stark's comment about build-a-bear is....Rocket gets Tony back later with, "You're only a genius here on earth, pal." Call the burn ward.
Honestly, I would've loved to see the reactions of the other Avengers & Okoye when they met Rocket & discovered he could talk. Would they have freaked out? Possibly, but more likely not after facing Thanos's army. This moment was pretty funny & it felt like Tony didn't give a rat's ass that an animal (or at least something resembling an Earth animal) was talking.
The only thing that disappointed me about Endgame was the fact that I wanted to see Rocket at his lowest step outside, and see a couple of raccoons nosing thru some garbage cans, and just stand there in shock/disappointment...
He's been on Earth for three weeks with the rest of the Avengers hunting down Thanos. Probably took some time getting acquainted with the planet's culture.
He doesn’t, he just didn’t give much of a shit to SnapBack at Tony, and just accepted it….Really shows how defeated and crushed he is right now…he’s lost everyone
Am I the only one that doesn’t remember rocket replying at all in the movie I’m rewatching and ig he did but stg I did not remember him replying with “maybe I am”
Also, when Tony calls Rocket a Build-a-bear, Rocket is kind of sad saying that maybe he is referencing when the tells Star Lord that he didn't choose to be taken apart and put back together and made.
Besides the implications about his emotions people really don't understand that the whole Build-A-Bear reference could be to his past like a nod because in the comics and in a lot of media he is a regular raccoon who was experimented on by breaking him down and building him up again literally by the molecular scale so yeah f****** with him emotionally and physically and damn near spiritually yeah
"Maybe I am."
Rocket doesn't know what a Build-A-Bear is, but he gets the message and knows he's being insulted. It doesn't faze him.

I think it’s because not even Rocket knows what species he is
Lmao, such growth, he use to want to blow a hole in your head for insulting him in past movies, but he sees a bigger picture, and doesn't allow insults to get the better of him.
Well he’s used to it, he’s been confused with so many things at this point he is immune.
Or he weirdly _has_ heard of Build-A-Bear and is referring to the experiments done on him where he was assembled in a lab.

No it’s because he doesn’t know what he is. He didn’t even know he was a raccoon.
Rocket's flat "Maybe I am" reply carries so much more weight after vol. 3.
Tony's throwaway comment of him mistaking Rocket for a stuffed animal comes off as (unintentionally) so much meaner. He is effectively a Build-A-High-Functioning-Lifeform.

Lmao Tony's reaction at 0:08 he's like "did that fucking raccoon just speak"
Hehe yeah 😂
After all the crazy shit he seen a talking raccoon still makes him raise a brow
The thing is, build a bear is not far off from what rocket actually is
Lmbo! This part was golden. Being called a rabbit by Thor was one thing, but the build-a-bear tops it.
Well Mr. Stark is the king of nicknames.
No hard feelings Point Break you have a mean swing.
"Strongest Avenger (Moment Of Silence) Point Break. Damn you Stark."
Then there’s Star Lord who called him a trash panda
@@snakethejake97 Well that is a nickname for raccoons.
Light, Itself. I laughed my ass off at that point.

Normally he'd give Tony a smartass remark or get angry but right now he can't bring himself to care about insults.

@Bruce Wayne right?! What's ironic is Scarlett and Bradley Cooper had an affair in Shes Just Not That Into You
In fairness, he was quite close
I cracked up when tony called him a build a bear!!!!
So did I!
I think most of us did.
Me too. I also cracked up a bit When Rocket replied "Maybe I am". 😂
This hits different after guardians 3 😢
Rocket is so despondent and heartbroken from the loss of his new family that Tony could probably have called him the dreaded R-word (raccoon), and Rocket probably wouldn’t have cared.
That little cut to Tony leaning forward while Rocket was talking completely enhanced the comedic timing
It also implies he actually did think Rocket was a build-a-bear.

Trash Panda
Build-A-Bear
Rabbit

Honestly, I can't tell what's improv for these movies anymore, the actors and script writers are just that good.
0:13 The saddest foreshadowing.
idk why this part cracks me up as much as it does
Out of all the thing people call rocket, like rabbit rat fix etc, build a Bear is probably the most accurate to what rocket is, which is kinda sad :(
The audience gave a chuckle at that moment when I saw this in the cinema
So harsh real talk, that raccoon is a realist.

But then if you think about the line for a second you can just tell Rocket just doesn't give a shit anymore cause all his friends are gone
You can see Tony start to realize that thing isn’t a Build A Bear
look how emaciated tony is
*later //not really// he sees Build-A-Bear toys*
Rocket: “Oh, THATS what he meant!”
Build a Bear, Rabbit, Puppy, Trash Panda, Triangle faced Monkey, Rabboon...which is it?
