Great design - they use a brushless motor, which is why it’s quiet and powerful simultaneously. Most vacuums use brush motors, which are less efficient, much louder, and don’t last as long. I’m glad to see they’re finally using brushless motors in some of the affordable models now.
Got this machine Yesterday and I have to say I am very impressed with it ,Idk what exactly Dewalt did but They sure put a lot thought in to it They managed to make it super quiet with out compromising its sucking power which is totally genius This is definitely my favorite tool right now
I've had my eye on this vac for a couple months now. I live in Canada and it doesn't seem to be available here yet. Hopefully soon as my old Shop Vac sounds like it's on its last legs, but just won't die, lol. You did a good job showcasing all the features and putting it to work.
What a great review! Thank you! And great editing, everything we need and nothing we don’t. Only one thing I would add - get a dust separator cyclone like a Duststopper or Dust Deputy and the filter (with a bag) will last forever.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Yep - I found it. I think the quietness of this vac will probably become the industry standard. Not just the public will appreciate it..but so will employers wanting a safer work environment for their employees. Kinda like riving knives on table saws. I was all ready to go purchase everything I needed to build a shop vac enclosure to control the noise of a shop vac when I stumbled across this vac. It will save me a lot of time and money.
@@JennyfromtheshopThanks for your video. Purchased it earlier today (25 Nov 2022) prior to seeing any videos/demos. Very quiet and great piece by DeWalt. Looked at Vac Shop, Rigid and then found this one. Paid $139. Vac Shop would have been $109. Definitely worth it. Thanks
I like the lower noise level, the way the accessories are stored, and it seems like a great vac! Thanks for the efforts you put forth to do a thorough review/demo for us. Much appreciated Jennifer! 🙏 👍😎
I don't believe there's a way to remove and clean them, but at all times air is being forced out from behind them so that alone will probably keep dust from collecting in that area. I guess I'll see over time.
@@Jennyfromtheshop kind of wild they can’t be removed to clean. The vast majority of sediment will be caught by the primary filter, but I would imagine that over time very fine dust will pass through and collect in the sound dampening foam.
@@goldistocks609 Maybe they can be removed, I answered without having the vac in front of me. I don’t recall seeing anything in the manual about them but I don’t know 💯.
I've been looking for one of these since I first saw it on RUclips. They aren't available in Canada yet, in fact Lowe's here in my hometown can't even find out if it's coming or not. Amazon Canada doesn't have them listed either.
I just spoke to the licensee today that makes the vacuums. I relayed the message that my followers in Canada are asking for these products! He said Lowes should have inventory or is at least scheduled to have it. He's passing my comments along.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Thank you I appreciate you looking into it. I will keep hounding them on this end and will let you know when they are available in Canada.
Sorry to inform you Jennifer, but the stealthsonic is made by Alton, with the Dewalt nameplate. It cannot be taken to a Dewalt service center, as they will not work on it. You have to call Alton at a 1-800 number, and send documentation and pictures for any warranty claim. Ask me how I know all this!
Oh no! That doesn’t sound good. I do know firsthand that Alton is a DeWalt licensee as I’ve worked with them on other vacuum videos. I included their name in my description but just now added their 800 number too, which I thought I had done. It’s listed on the box (I believe), manual and inside the manual, although most people don’t hang on to those items. What was the issue with your shop vac?
I bought the 9-gallon version for my cnc router. Ran for 2 minutes and shut down. After a half hour or so, it would run for another 2 minutes. I suspect thermal switch is bad. Called the seller, they wanted me to pay shipping to replace it. Called the Dewalt service center, they wanted the model number. Once they got that, they said it was actually made by Alton, and I should call them. I paid a premium price to get a Dewalt. If it had the Alton nameplate, I wouldn't have even considered it.
@@greenhavencreat7178 That stinks! For heavy woodworking and sawdust, I might be inclined to add a dusting separator too? It still should last longer than two minutes! Alton Industries makes vacuums under a lot of licensed names, you might’ve gotten a lemon. 😢
lowkey one of the best vacuum videos I've watched
I got a 6gal from lowes pickup...and now ready to open it! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Can't wait to see more of your perfectly clear informative vids.
@@danacraig220 Thank you so much! Enjoy your new shop vac!
Glad to see they are working to make them quieter. I listen to shop vacs for hours holding pool liners in place. Noise level matters to me.
You don’t even need ear protection with these! It’s amazing.

How is a suction power compared to other brands?

I love my dewalt 12 gallon stealth sonic shop vacuum. unlike the dewalt 2 gallon 20v wet dry vacuum this one was worth the money.
I can’t really think of anything I don’t like about this one. Definitely a good buy.

do you need the liner bag for dry use, or can you run it without it?
You can use it with or without, it just depends if you want to contain all the debris or not.
These were announced at least a half a year ago, and the 12 at Lowes seems to be the only one available(in the world)!? Dewalt, I want smaller please.
Smaller is great if you add a cyclone.
I bought my 9 gallon on amazon a year ago
Great video, was looking for a shop vac; I’m buying this tonight
Awesome! It’s a good one!
Won’t the foam air exhausts eventually become clogged? Is there any way to take the foam out so you can clean it?

Does this have a blower function?
This one doesn’t, just has the foam covered vents.
