🍺Yours looks better than mine but I fish the Seth Fieder Marabou jig (black with a splash of chartreuse). It comes with a Gamakatsu hook. My classic picks are in 1st,2nd,5th,and 11th.🤷♂️🤑.
Can you ask Berkley to make a Stunna Jr?!? I love down sizing jerk baits. A oneten Jr plus 1 is one of my go to confidence baits. I'd love to add some smaller Stunnas into the mix!
Prespawn smallie conversation has to have the much hated/loved A Rig. Only 3 lines here in Wisco so I put a couple size 3 willow blades on the top 2 arms. It isn’t something I throw from start to finish, but when they don’t want to commit on a jerk bait or have seen 500 marabou jigs swim passed, it can be the ticket.
Great video! I’ve got a few spots in definitely gonna be trying some of these tips. My hover rigs the other day! Can you do more vids of them in action? And maybe some more tips- i loved the previous ones.
Great video Matt! I love that you broke it down specific to smallmouth. I’d only add a couple of baits just in case they are still deep - a blade like a SteelShad or Binsky and a heavier tube. Anyway - thanks for yet another great video!
Matt, I fish on spring break for smallmouth. I know it sounds weird, but they go crazy for a lure strike king doesn't make any more called the Bitsy Wiggler. I'm also going to try fishing i-motion baits more this year.
The wife booked another week for us at the cabin with the deep water private lake for our anniversary ( 32? 33? Hell, I don't remember) next month. There is tons of standing timber in about 25-30 feet of water and I am definitely throwing the hover rig and a hair jig in those spots. I caught 6s and 7s like nothing last year. Looking for a double digit this year.
Out of all the baits I've ever used I've caught the most river/creek bass on the old h&h spinnerbait. Me and my dad went to the creek yesterday and got at least 30 hybrid striped bass each. The only bad thing about them is the hooks break after about 20 fish but I just use the vmc tandem assist hooks instead and those wont bend out no matter what you hook.
To quote the legendary Al Linder For river smallmouth. If you are not tossing a size 6 or size 8 black marabou Wooly Bugger on fly gear during the early pre spawn, you are missing out. You are missing out on a ladda fish. a ladda big fish, a ladda really big fish, a ladda really, really big fish. Location IS everything...
You said you were doing a largemouth and small mouth video. What about spotted bass? Do they fall into 1 of these categories or are they their own beast? Thanks for all the info
@@MattStefanFishing that would be awesome. I love out in CA and my closest 3 lakes are primarily spotted bass. Deep clear water reservoirs. Can't wait to see that video
Marabou is not hair. Marabou comes from a turkey. Hense Marabou is a feather. Am a jig and fly tier, and do know there is a difference. But besides that Matt your videos are informative I certainly enjoy watching them

sounds good
I tied up a ton of maribou jigs this winter along with the dropshot versions you showed us in past videos. Good stuff
That is awesome!
It's always awesome catching bass on a bait you made.
Good choices. I like a hair jig, arctic fox black, a skirted underspin and a blade bait.
sounds good!

You should!

ill check it out
use fishing glue on keitech swimmers. a little dab behind the jig head will extend the life quite a bit. Plain color ball heads is all you need.

Glad it was helpful!
🍺It’s now 1.5 hours into day two of the classic and my picks are in 1st,2nd, and 3rd.🤠
hahaha
Always great information Matt. Love your channel and also follow you on bass fishing declassified as well.
Awesome! Thank you!
Lake of the woods sports headquarters has a great bou/fluff jig (BT Elite series)
yep
Right now, for me, your hover jig with a smoke purple flake tube has been catching smallmouth on the upper Potomac River. 😊
yes!
Matt, is there any way you could address river smallies? Current and higher water flows are a different animal.
ill put it n my suggestion list!

Great stuff, what about a Senko or a Shakey head? Finally, what weight Zman Finesse Ned Head do you like to use?
1/10 is my go to
Mentioning the Keitech over the Rage Swimmer and the Z Man TRD over the Lil General. I respect that.
thanks for watching
Recommendation for lures in the susquehanna river? 40 degrees and pretty strong current and the moment.
drop shot, swimbait, jerkbait, ned rig,
Thanks man. Always great content!
thanks!
This one has some really great info Matt, Im guessing that you throw your Kietech swimbait on a spinning rod? Thanks for the info!!!
That is correct
I’m just waiting on my core tackle order. I hopefully get it next week for tournament cross my fingers.
its on the way
I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and it shipped today! LET'S GO !!!!!!!!
Awesome, that means mine will be shipping soon then. So excited to try them out. I been thinking about all the different baits to use with them.

@@MattStefanFishing Yep... you bet

i can do a spotted bass video as well!
