Always love this games overly bloody Transformation sequences
Oh shit it's pan
RebelTaxi I love you pan!
love your videos man
Whoa a rare pan
They are so cool, they make you feel extremely powerful. It's a shame there's no more violence like this in the new generation of games, it's like developers are scared of controversy.
And I love how they are kinda accurate to what transforming in real life would look like (as realistic as it can get for something completely impossible), not just a puff of smoke and "TADA!" like in other games that might have similar abilities.
Rise From Your Grave!
(and pls try to forgive me for forgetting about Altered Beast: Guardian Of The Realms for Game Boy Advance... My bad!)
DAMN IT! I was gonna say that
DidYouKnowGaming? 2. But its monday i dont wanna get op
I prefer to stay dead
Shouldn't it be pronounced, "Wise from your gwaves."
Altered Beast: Guardian Of The Realms for Gameboy Advance
I doubt the violence would've set people back. It was 2005. We had games like Doom 3, GTA San Andreas, and Mortal Kombat Deception.
This game had some of the coolest transformation scenes i`ve ever seen period.
And gameplay wise it had very very solid ideas, a remake of this or sequel would have so freaking much potential.
This game needs a remake, looks like good open world brawler material.
Imagine if it was developed by the Yakuza team
Heck yes heck yes! I would definitely play that.
Or even platinum games?
@@GLynch_2011 Yes! Platinums beat'em chops are more than adequate.
It only needed a better combat system like devil may cry
Oh man, I remember playing this game and finished it a couple years ago. Some creatures like Garuda and UWH are my favorite ones and the final boss theme is one of my favorite of all time. The transformations scared the shit out of me, though.
I loved this game! One of the very fey games that I truly wish it gets a remake, the concept is awesome and while the transformations scared the crap outta me, it still looked amazing.
THIS IS A GAME THAT DESERVES A REMAKE! Never thought I'd ever say that after the announcement of Final Fantasy 7.
Those are some pretty awesome transformation animations
the PS2 version looks badass, i bet it would be way more awesome if redone with modern day technology with better gameplay mechanics, let netherealm studio handle development i bet they would make it awesome.
I feel like the reason this game was made was to create those transformation sequences. Those things are sick.
Deemed too violent for the US but gets a 12 rating for the UK release? Hmmmmm..... strange one that to say the least.
it's like how in america if you had someone gushing with red blood, that's a hard M, but if the blood was green, then, yeah, sure that's a T rating
I had this game, bloody hard, I never "legitimately" beat it (as in I cheated hehe), the combat was actually really fun (as long as you weren't the human) but what killed it for me was the transformation energy limit... so I removed that hastle using an action replay and beat the game that way, this made things much more fun :)
You filthy deviant!
Gotta admit; I'm not a pansy but those transformations are overkill...
Those transformation sequences are brutal. Cool as hell lol.
Who exactly was responsible for the European rating? Did they even play it?
Bryan from Tekken?
Paxsali wow i was about to say that.
That'd be badass, though.
Holy crap, this looks amazing. Hope it comes to the PS4 digitally someday with their growing PS2 remasters.
3:29 that Garuda transformation... Ouch!
Looks pretty violent for 12...
Kuriz Guy My Name Kuriz. I Grammar.
What a bunch of pussies. I played the game when I was 7.
l0ck3rd0p3 i too, lol,i ve get so angery playing it and trying to kill the FUCKING OBESE BOSS
@@AlexisDevilman i don't think he was saying that the game was too much for them it just looks too much for a 12 especially when you look at other 12 rated games
"Green is for Monster Energy". How very true that turned out to be.
This game was incredibly underrated, I loved it, even though I was 8 years old when I first played it, and was traumatized from its blood and gore. It still amazed me at how crazy this game was... Lmaoooo
Yes it’s so amazing I love this game
Sadly though, the Licensed Ben 10 games made for a better Alter Beast reboot Game than this official ps2 reboot... let that sink in for a moment. Then again Vicious Cycle is known for making decent games like Spy vs Spy (2005) or Dead Head Fred (Spiritual Successor to Conker's Bad Fur Day).
Even the Ben 10 game on Hyperscan.
RamsTheNameCom I like this game lol better than the boring Ben 10 games
+Anthony Rios I was referring to the Ben 10 games made by Vicious Cycle as you can see in my second sentence.
+beastfulboy Both the Vicious Cycle Ben 10 games and Alter Beast PS2 have consistently the same bad ratings ranging around 4-5/10. So it is more of a lose/lose scenario and it's all about which game you'd much prefer to play.
the Ben 10 games for ps2 were my childhood, they fucking suck tho
Its nearly 2019 and no Altered Beast sequel or remasterd.
Well yeah but i wish they remake the game
...this game got a 12+? Holy shit, how? His limbs fucking explode when he transforms into certain beasts. Just... BOOM. No more hand. No more leg. No more EYE.
Proof that americans are wuzzes ;)
...Not really? I just find it strange that this was found acceptable for children under the age of 13. Even a 16+ would suffice.
i personally think the transformations are fucking awesome. they remind me of parasite eve, in a weird way.
I guess they overlooked the transformation FMVs? It'd be at least 16+ in my book.
rockah12 people weren't such pussies back then. sjw and feminazis didn't exist so games and movies weren't affected by overly sensitive assholes that hate art and other people having fun. 12+ movies had gore and naked tits back then. Now even so much as cigarette being light up it's an automatic 18+ rating.
Even more surprising is that the german USK also gave this game an age rating of 12+ even though the USK is generally pretty harsh wnen it comes to violent content. It also seems to be uncensored (at least I didn't find anything there) so.....why does this game have the same age rating as Zelda Twilight Princess?
This got the same rating as Super Smash Bros Melee. Let that sink in.
Rating on what website or gaming magazine?
The sink is too big.
BlazeHeartPanther Blaze He's probably talking about the Pegi/Esrb rating
Ah, like Rated T. I thought he meant like the score rating.
smash Bros melee players choice is rated 3
those transformation cutscenes are metal as fuck
Finally, someone mentioned this game. What great times I've had with it.
Altered Beast was rated D (17+) in Japan and 18+ in German.
Pegi gives it a 12+.
It's quite ironic, since "PEGI" tends to be really strict regarding violence in video games these days. Most E10+ games released for the newer consoles gets an instant 12+ rating (Kingdom Hearts, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One)
You were right. This game's concept and graphics were so disturbing, I nearly lost my lunch.
I think I see an altered beast by the tree! WOOOOOO
TAKE A PEEK
IF YOU WOULD DARE
It's nice to see this get some spotlight, I don't think I've ever come across another person who has played this.
I would have loved to play this game, especially as a kid. Everyone's always so worried about videogames being a bad influence....
i have this game (bought in korea.) the variety of transformations is pretty charming, and i still find myself replaying it from time to time. the soundtrack is also rather cool
I remember receiving a Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas when I was a kid and it came with "Altered Beast".
I spend all Christmas holiday playing it, even though I didn't like it that much.
Can you guys do a Region Locked video on FromSoftware's Shadow Tower Abyss?
this definitely!
The transformation cutscenes look impressive.
"This game contains graphic imagery that may not be suitable for those of a more sensitive disposition." Goddamn if that's not the most politically correct thing I've ever heard
Ultimate Kars
Getting ready for your stream of this game!
Holy shit, those transformation cutscenes are nightmare fuel
I love this game, I still play it to this day!
Gotta love that 12+ rating on a violent game. Same thing happened with the UK release of dragons dogma
They probably just didn't release it due to it getting bad reviews. I don't see why it's violence would have been an issue. Even back in 2005 M-rated games were really popular.
This game deserves better
It has an amazing concept with the modern take in it, multiple transformation made feel real and I've always wanted to see a sequel for this game
Face it this game is better than most games today, why cause NO dlc or microtransaction
i got the game as a gift from my cousin, it was basically a free game but i loved it, it was fun and very violent, still have it until today, a solid game!
I played it when I was 10-ish year old. Never finished it, only played the first two sections, never looked at it again but those transformations marked my brain.
12+? I guess we're super hardcore.
Was there not an altered beast game on gba in America?
DaiShogun There was. I have it. It's pretty good.
Actually it was called All Tier Best. And it is a tennis game. Sorry, you lose.
Indeed there was, Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms.
Wasn't it Guardian of the Realms?
shadowdragoon6 i actually looked it up there is one it's altered beast advance
This game gives me nightmares back when i was kid
The creepy environment creepy looking enemies
I brazillian, somehow this game was avaiable here
I PLAYED THE SHIT OUT OF THIS GAME AND IT WAS THE SHIT
Seriously, it had devil may cry gameplay (sorta), and was difficult AF. I remember rage quiting hundreds of times. Still, one of the few games I wish I could get a ps2 just to play. Seriously, if you can run an emulator, play this game. Maybe by todays standards it might be clunky, but if you an get over that... OOhh I'm having flashbacks, the guy twisting his fingers during transformation, his skin melting, eyes turning..
Mukagas They paid more attention to the transformation scenes than the game itself. One thing I always used to be hyped about getting a new chip was to see its transformation sequences. I never got the were tiger chip, though.
Brazil had a form of PAL. You guys got European games because of that.
yung cash register a.k.a Lil Broomstick or just simple piracy.
I love the idea around this game, but naming it Altered Beast was it's down fall. They should have done a what Bioshock did with this game.
Those transformation sequences would of definitely freaked me out as a kid.
Yeah, PEGI's rating was a mess during the PS2 era.
Not nearly as terrifying as Majora's Mask transformation cutscenes when I was a child.
Never knew this game existed.
one question... on that gene manipulation screen where you can put your points in, whats the round thing on the left? looks like a jason voorhees mask :)
Gene-cyborg....
Or Geno-Cyber...
I don't think you need to raise this game from its grave
keep it in the deepest depths of hell !
Gavin Mathew Or just give it to me. :P
I played this game when I was 9 (2012) and I loved it, but I was kinda scared when he transforms.
i would want it to
Neat, I didn't know about this PS2 game. I played the original Altered Beast on c64 when I was a kid. Heading to eBay right now!
I played this! I am from Argentina and I got the game at a local cheap ps2 games store :O it was really good. I am pretty sure the game was in english or something I could kinda understand... awesome someone still remembers this good game
A friend of mine owned this when we were still in grade school. Scared me then, still scares me now. This was my first introduction to true horror.
Here in Ireland my friend and I saw this in GameStop when it came out. We got it based on the box alone. We were actually 12 at the time and it didn't disturb or scare us or anything but we were both like "This should absolutely not be rated 12s" :L
This game is one of my favorite, i have played seems i have 8 years, the 2D versión for PC. And when i get the versión for PS 2, i was more than happy, and i keep playing because i have yet to get the Weretiger chip. I hope one day they will made another version for PS 4 or at least a remaster version, after all the anime Killing Bites is going to get a game for PS 4 soon, this is like a son of the same tematic (not completly but still). Thanks for the video.
So... Story is basically the same to Shadow The Hedgehog?
I am currently doing a play through on this game playing a little each day and I just got the minotaur. While I have had frustrations with some bosses and with the merman and garuda forms I will try and complete this game. Maybe someday sega will give this series another go on modern consoles.
remember playing this when i was young...man those transforamtions are the best ive ever seen even today 0.0 the werewolf just looks so fricken brutal and painful and so good for ps2 graphics.
the game itself has its problems for sure but its not a bad game at all, though definetly needed a bit more work on it.
"monster energy"...
He could buy some of these in a supermarket y'know?
Kind of reminds me how the ova genocyber got a 13 and above rating even though the gore rivals that of other 90s era anime that have a mature rating
oh my god Altered Beast for ps2 finally someone cover for it YES YES i own that game it was worth buying it
ALTERED BEAST
ALTER ME
ALTERED BEAST
ALTER MEEEEEEEEEEE
Jaden Goter finally someone said it
Yes mate
Jaden Goter I love you
Jaden Goter YES!
yes dude!
Those transformation cut-scenes look awesome. It doesn't feel like an Altered Beast game at all though. Kinda like a Tekken x Castlevania type of game. Throw in some Dork Souls and you got yourself this game.
This game's concept is pretty cool. Would love if someone made a remake or a spiritual succesor.
Oh boy, I used to play AB everyday. Never heard of this PS2 remake/reboot.
I still love this game!! by far one of my fave of all time.
Keep in mind this game was released 11 months before Ben 10 was first aired. So, who copied who?
Im guessing this game was part of the inspiration of the show with the whole detailed transformations
Altered Beast Honestly Is One Of My Favorite Arcade Games Of All Time Because It's So Simple Fun And Challenging!
Why didnt this game get more love.. And why dont we have a movie on it. Its a CLASSIC
Reminds me of the 2010 Splatterhouse reboot with its transformations and blood soaked violence
There are 2 kinds of perceivable gore
1:doom-like gore:”gore which you are numb to”
2:wound-gore:”gore that feels like it would be possible to someone or yourself”
This game has the same mechanic as another game Sega made at the time, namely Shinobi. Shinobi has the same "kill to stay alive" approach. The graphics seem like a mix between that and Devil May Cry.
I loved that game. Played the hell out of it on my PS2, got all the monster and chicken legs!
I've actually played that game, it was pretty fun if a bit clunky in some parts. Also had a Metroid thing going on with some paths you can go back to if you have the right beast form.
Never played the ps2 version, will have to check it out. Me and buddy just played the original on our channel and damn is that game tough. Good for a laugh if ya wanna check it out. Enjoyed your video, subbed!
Shame we never got a remaster I have fond memories of this one
Man that sucks we never got this, I would have played the hell out of this game!
I miss when games had neat unlockables. The UWH is actually pretty cool despite being really silly.
I love the gameplay idea of transforming into different creatures, though I've never seen a solid example of this done right. It's a shame really, it sounds like such a great idea for a more modern game series.
Yikes, now that was graphic.
I regret not getting this when I was younger, I looked at the box and thought it would be crap, especially because I always saw it really cheap
"WISE FWOM WAR GWABE"
Eita vontade de ver um remake...
Eita vontade de ver um remaster...
Eita vontade de ver uma continuação...
Eita vontade de ver qualquer coisa desse jogo!!!
those transformations must be painful
It's bizarre this got only a 12, in Japan it got an 18. Still looking for this one though as I've always wanted a copy.
Wait, I'm confused by the change in setting and story by this reboot. Did Sega think microchips giving you the power to shapeshift was *easier* for audiences to swallow than Greek mythological magic? :P
I love that Game! I Play It alot a few years ago, a hidden gem
Altered Beast was an Arcade Classic, I sorta wish we got this over here in the States it would of been AWESOMEE!
Those transformations look fucking brutal
YES. YEEEEES. I got this game bootlegged in America at a flea market. This is hands down a cult classic.
I never understand why certain games don’t release to the U.S. and/or Europe. You would make much more money and in some cases it might’ve actually saved the games.
Honestly this sounds and looks pretty awesome, I'd be up for a remake, or sequel (spiritual or otherwise).
So lucky I got to actually play this and the sword of the berserk on my ps2 years ago through porting
