I don't trust stylist either. They mess it up one way or another
I went in for a trim for the first time and the stylist just chopped my whole fro off 😭 she didn't detangle or stretch or anything she just went right in with a hair clipper.
Stylists do get scissor happy or burn out long hair. It’s sad that so many of us have had that experience and decide never to go again.
Why do they want to cut it ??? It’s unbelievable!
It’s true.. I’ve seen other women stylist mess people real hair up.. but will slay a weave perfectly..
GURL YES!?!?!
Mercy! I could feel her pain. She's scared of having her hair butchered by a crazy one. But I'm sure she's in good hands with the Doc!
‘Untamed wild animal’ really? .. her hair is beautiful. We need to be more careful with the words we use concerning our hair.
Right, I feel her. It can be hard to trust stylists bc a majority of them don't know what they're doing. I've gotten bad heat damage from a stylist.
Some years back (in my creamy crack days) my former long time stylist overbooked appts so she let her beauty shop intern rinse the relaxer out... She left my hair hanging in "relaxer water" as the sink drained instead of holding it up as she was instructed to do until the plumber came...in the next day or two my hair went from below my bra strap to the back of my neck due to the breakage... In the middle only!!! Some of the sides were still hanging on... My stylist had to cut off all the "damaged" hair... I was one of three that she did this to... We found out later that this was done on purpose because her own hair wouldn't grow... WTF!
Another stylist turned me away from the mirror then cut almost 7 inches of my hair off for an UP-DO talking about my ends were bad...umm I just had my ends cut 4 days prior.... Bi+ch, WTF!?
Another stylist says to me: "ok now this is gonna burn"... Before I could ask what she's talking about she proceeds to put peppermint oil on my scalp after she JUST relaxed my hair and burned the whole top of my head/scalp..At that point, I had had enough and went natural... I do my own hair now...
Wow!!!
Dang! Where do you live?! These are horrible stylist! Smh
OMG 😱
Omg! Jealousy seriously is a disease!
I’m fuming on your behalf
Her hair is gorgeous 🥰
I’ve done my own hair for decades, but when I allowed someone to style my hair, only two people I ever trusted.
She is speaking the truth. I’ve had terrible experiences.
I no longer go to stylist I take care of my own hair after all the horrible experiences I had. From my hair not coming out the way I wanted it to, burning, damage and even trims that became hair cuts! Since I stop going to stylist I have bra strap length hair and it’s thick beautiful and curly. I’m not paying to walk out of a salon crying or sad anymore! I divested!!! (I hope one day I find my dream stylist tho ❤️).
I love a good hipster or rockstar look, but we need to get into the mindset that our hair (in it's fro texture), can be glamorous and beautiful too. We seem to have this limited view on our hair.
Jealousy in hair salons from some females is real...unfortunately. I don't blame her for keeping her beautiful crown away from many stylists. That's why many prefer male stylists, or learn to do our own
Been there done that...her and her hair is double beautiful....i go through the same thing ....God Bless everyone reading this
Yup! I do 95% of everything for my hair. I stopped trusting stylists a long time ago. Now, I have 1 person and that's it.
This is true. That is why I do my own. Even if i make a mistake I know I love my hair and I give it my best
Facts I have this experience on several occasions since I was in 8th grade I have had long hair. I feel her a 1000% I need a real healthy hair stylist in Chicago
This is my problem with stylist. They have no patience and always break my hair off.
This has happened to me recently, I went to a place touted as the best salon in my area for curly hair. After not going to a salon in almost 5 years because of the last bad experience. And they messed my hair up completely I am so upset about it still!
this happened to me. my hair was very long and healthy , a jealous stylist put relaxer in my hair without telling me. my hair is sensitive and it burned a lot of my hair off.
She has every reason to be cautious..some are stylist horrible
None of the clips of this show, shows him putting perm in their hair and anchor braids for weaves, which just as damaging. I don't understand the premise of this show. I thought it was about embracing their natural beauty.
Guuuurrl
So true !
I drive for miles to avoid those scissor happy jealous hands
Did anyone see this episode? He said water is the worst thing for her hair. Since when???? Hydration is always best for hair. Instead of conditioning and giving a styling to her natural hair. He straightened the life out of it. Flat with absolutely no life or body. 👎🏾
I saw it !! I was like! What? He could have just defined her natural curls !
are you sure he didn’t mean during hair cuts ? because for curls dry cuts are the best , she may also have low porosity , though water is the best way to style and for products to absorb for anyone .
Yes not good. She could have gotten a cute twist out by a natural hair stylist on youtube lol smh.
She has to learn that. Remember we are all learning our hair. Creamy crack was the way, the truth and the life for decades for some of us.
I love her name!!! Modest
She is absolutely right! I don’t know how many hair stylists that didn’t duplicate a hairstyle pic I gave them. They would cut or do it their way ! I had to learn to say a “trim vs cut”, because they would go cut crazy! I do my teen daughter’s natural hair, including trim the ends (used tube video tutorials for guidance). I even highlight it once in summer & once in the fall. On the rare occasions when I bring her to stylist to get her hair silk pressed , they always manage to say something is wrong. I know it’s a lie, because my daughter’s hair is healthy and well taken care of. So I don’t allow them to talk me into doing anything additional, unless it was my original plan to do so. I have enough information from reviewing online that I even box braid and corn braid her hair. I also am teaching my daughter how to take care of her natural hair too. I understand this poor woman’s phobia. It’s a real nightmare dealing with black salons! 🙄🙏🏾
Honestly, she does give vintage McQueen. Her hair would fit just fine.
Omg I agree . I haven’t been to a hair salon in years. I have gone to the braid salon bc I know they wouldn’t be cutting my hair . I’ve had similar experiences so I never go to the salon. Just train my own hair
This is why I dont let people touch my hair it would have to be a lot of research.
My stylist damaged my hair to the point that I went from 14 inches at least to bald. I don't know what chemical she used to give me a treatment and silk press. I went in for a trim and came out thin, breaking and falling out. I am now regrowing my hair and i don't know if i will ever go back to a stylist again.
same exact thing happened to me my hair was coming out in clumps idk wtf she did. 4 years later my hair is just starting to look good again and there’s still a bald patch in working on
Can relate I have the same type of hair with more curls and have had the same experience. Now I wash, deep conditioner, moisturize and Go.
I love her hair❤❤
That was my problem!!! Oh my!! Oh my!!
I had a black stylist give me a “silk press” but she fried my hair. I washed it and it was dead… 2 years no heat no salons down the drain.
Did a blowout and 6 years gone lol. Crazy ride bc I hate salons too but decided to try it smh 🤦♀️
Had hair past my shoulders most my life. Every. Single. Time. I went to get my ends clipped, they'd cut off 2-4 inches. Like 2 months later, they'd say I needed another trim and act snooty when I declined. Then proceed to passive aggressively make comments about how "unmanageable" my hair was.
They do cut it and mess it up. Smh.
I’m feeling this
I’m so upset, I can’t find anywhere to watch this from Australia.
No good on AppleTV, Amazon, etc or anywhere else I tried, whether pirate or paid (I would pay to watch it)
Can anyone recommend how I can access it to watch the series in Australia? I’d be soooo grateful!
You can watch here on RUclips. Go to the channel and it gives you an option to watch season 1 of this show for a few dollars.
I had a bad cut and my hair grows slowly and uneven now. I should've gotten up when she asked where my hair was
Even my own cousin, who was a hairdresser, cut my hair off. They do want da f**k they wanna do 😢
Some stylists are awful they are always wanting to cut mine it’s quite rude ! Some just do whatever they want , now I tell them no !!
I understand
I am mixed and I do my hair myself now cause hairstylists would just cut my hair off.
What she is saying is true.
i also feel the same way
She's right
She anit lying I had the same experience
I don't go to hair salon since
That day I did the mistake.
I'm at this point and only trust myself and my braider in my hair 😔
Stay away from salons. They prefer straight hair that is easy to work with, not afro hair. Stay home, shampoo and deep condition, LCO, 2-strand twist, put on a beanie or hair scarf styled for professional life, and keep it moving. After my big chop and so much hair loss after getting silk presses every two weeks as recommended by the salon, my hair is so healthy, stronger, and grows with WAY LESS DAMAGE AND NO REAL BREAKAGE, other than the natural shedding through normal phases of hair growth. No salons. NEVER again. I can't believe I"ve grown my hair by myself mid-shoulder length. I only trimmed away the damaged ends (oldest parts of my hair) every 3 months and wow. Yes, we can have healthy and long hair outside of the salons, which prefer we have straight hair or no hair at all.
Girl needs to really love hers. Think about it if you where not you wouldn’t be you. You would be a whole different person. Why would would you want that
Is she an actor?
She not lying, they F your hair up, I’ve had three people in Houston so cut a pixie cut, they mess it up every time🤦🏽♀️
She has so much hair cause she doesn't go to a stylist. Lol
So she never went to a male hair stylist. There's plenty of them
Maybe she never thought to go to one
Oh no...sis. This is sad.
Emotional
Hair really effects our view of our identity...
I went to a salon with my
Natural afro the same thing
Happen
I don't blame her. My mom was a world renown stylist (alla hair textures) and even she doesn't trust black women hair stylists. I would never go to them. I learned how to do my own hair. I hate short hair amd never wants her.
My afro is not nice
Like it use to be.
