I thought the show was gonna be more about addressing how to fix the underlying issues, not just cover them with a wig. I understand how the styles can serve as a protective style while their hair recovers, but I hoped the conversation in the show would be more about how to take care of their natural hair. I loved the second girls natural hair so much and was so so sad when they gave her a relaxer. Again, I understand that if they’re happy, it’s all that matters, but I did think the show was going to focus on learning to embrace and work with our natural hair.
Right. There are enough natural hair stylists in the U. S. that can educate clients and do natural styles like twist outs and wash and gos.
That part
I was so hoping the same. What a shame these shows keep forcing us into these European standard of beauty
I was expecting the same. I'm one minute into the video and after I read your comment, just not gonna bother watching.
i really do not understand the second clients transformation. Wasnt relaxer part of her issue/trama?? I really don't understand why he did that. Like yeah, its looks amazing! But- the root of the problem is her not feeling right in her natural hair, putting relaxer on her real hair is like trying to patch up a broken leg with band-aids!
This was a perfect opportunity to teach women how to properly care for their hair, natural or relaxed. They totally missed the mark, it's basically another make over show.
He didn't teach nothing about how to care for natural hair! All he did was cover it! Like that First girl...her hair was extremely damaged! What he should have done was given her damn Big crop cause she NEEDED to cut that shit! 😂
Completely missed the mark smh
Right lol it's a case of hopping on trends to increase exposure. He need to think this though before committing to a season 2
Exactly. That's why I stopped watching
Awww that's disappointing
"You know your done attaching things to your hair..right???!!!"
***attaches a fresh wig***
😂😂😂😂 exactly.....
He said done attaching to the hair LINE
@@kirrafour1689 but then he did worst and permed...and put the perm on the hairline first...lord
BRUH OMM SHE KOULDA LITERALLY WENT TO THA BEAUTY SUPPLY BOUGHT THA HAIR THEN WENT TO THA SHOP TO INSTALL IT IF SHE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO DO IT HERSELF 😭😭😭😭😭‼️💯
He attached it to a netting not her real hair. I just wonder how long that netting is going to last attached to her head?
The second girl dealt with bad relaxers growing up. Instead of celebrating her real hair, he did the same thing and permed her hair.
Ridiculous
And flexed on it 🤦🏽♀️
That is her real hair With a piece in it
@@parishiltonASMR they meant her natural hair, like her natural hair pattern. her natural hair is curly but he relaxed her hair, making it straight and therefore no longer being her natural hair type.
Right! I'm glad someone else noticed it
I've been reading through the comments, and I have yet to find a single black woman in them who approves of this show/his methods. The only people who are singing his praises are people who aren't in the demographic that this show was meant to help/be for. I think that is very telling of the quality of this show. I could be wrong, but I'm willing to trust the words of the women who actually live this experience.
Right
I absolutely love this comment, well said !
True!
That 1st girl looked a mess and she knew it.
He didn't give me that wow factor I was looking for. He disappointed me when he didn't let them fully embrace their own natural hair.
I am in shock that he relaxed her hair. She just needed a treatment , trim and guidance on how to encourage growth for her edges.Absolute disappointment smh
I agree.
She probably requested a relaxer
I thought her hair was beautiful as it was. In the braids and especially when he took them out. I was also shocked when he relaxed it. I was looking forward to a curly style. Maybe she just really wanted it straight? Her family really did a number on her.
@@galilaya42if she wandet it straight... than thats her choice..
For some of us a relaxer is easier to maintain. Not everything black women do is because we want to be white
I believe he knows that these ladies are not going to wear their natural hair but is finding a way to keep their hair less damaged & manageable so they don't continue to destroy it after they leave.
Im sure she didnt need him to tell her to perm it....That was the whole point of the wig....dont make sense
@@sbriep6763 you are definitely right as well. It would have been great seeing her keep her natural hair.
That's cool if he didn't make a point to flex so hard about being "the dr," "changing their lives," and encouraging to embrace their true selves (in these cases, that would imply their natural hair). The actions didn't match the words, that's my biggest gripe. Had he said this was just baby steps or something, or that the clients set their personal boundaries and he was working inside of said boundaries, that'd be helpful. But the way he lied to and threw that lady's wig in the trash, I doubt he's big on catering to client boundaries; and if that was a stunt, it was a stupid one.
@S Fr I feel you on that part. I'm big on natural hair & also thought, "What if he just did it a different way?"
He destroyed it even further by relaxing it. Don’t make excuses for this guy. He’s not helping anyone, the first girl could’ve bought some curly weave if she wanted it and he blamed relaxers being the root of the second girl problem (physically and mentally) and he doubled down and gave her another one. This is actually infuriating, I came here to see black women learning to love their natural selves, not to see people get a quick fix.
I watched a couple of video shorts and assumed he was a NATURAL HAIR stylist. This is not what I expected BUT the strategy for both women is perfect for each. The end results are looks that look authentic and flattering. Impressive.
You think so? Can you elaborate on why, I feel like most of us disagree
@@sfr2107 Same. I'd love to learn more about this opinion...
Bullshit
@@sfr2107 Oh wow! 546 likes. I rarely check for responses these days.
Any who, let me explain the obvious.
Monique, the former cheerleader, seemed to be ready to go natural. Her hair was so frizzy and uneven that the only option would be a TWA. On the other hand, she is used to swinging locks. He gave her voluminous extensions with texture that reached for the stars instead of swinging below her shoulders. This will let her and others get accustomed to what her own hair will do when it grows out and is on display.
DeAunna(?) the entrepreneur looked like every other hardworking baby mama with her wig. Yes she had enough natural hair to start a “no raw oil /butter journey” but that’s not her aesthetic. Her relaxed bob transformed her from hood rich to sophisticated businesswoman.
Both women looked liked themselves.
It would have been nice if the hairstylist dispensed education on how to maintain the health of their hair especially during Monique’s service.
I thought the show was about teaching them how to care for their hair and also style it at home. Instead, he masked their hair again 🤦🏽♀️
exactly.
ABI??
Agree. It would be cool if he treated and regrew their hair over a few months and taught them how to care for it.
This show does not teach you how to regrow and treat your own hair. Damn shame. She could love and grow her own Afro. You cannot love your hair if you constantly are masking it with fake hair.
It would have been nice to see the stylist work with their natural hair without the weave and relaxer. But they both look good.
I said the same thing
It seemed like she prefers wearing weave so he gave her a natural looking alternative.
Her hair needs to heal and grow back, that's why it's in a protective style
My thoughts exactly
@Jetblue Horizon Protective styles aren't always the solution. I've seen better tstylist who don't have to fo all that Xtra weave and still grow hair. I had stylist throw that mess of weave on my hair yet didn't cut and trim and let my hair breathe. It's worse now. Going to a true hair doctor who works wonders with people's own hair.
Monique’s hair is extremely damaged. Dr. Boogie did nothing to address her hair issues. She needed WAY more than a shampoo, deep conditioning, and hot oil treatment. This was yet another temporary fix. She needs real hair care & this wasn’t it. Dionna’s natural hair wasn’t bad at all. Her edges were just gone and hopefully they can grow back with the proper hair care.
Her natural hair was beautiful! I think it would have suited her more.
She should have gotten a nice cut and treatments provided for the edges and back.
I’m trying to understand why he told the second girl you have so much chemical damage and then proceeded to put a chemical on it…SMH…This is the reason why everyone can’t call themselves a doctor.
This!
Yeah that upset me lol😅 I feel like a regular deep condition and a blow dry and tell her how to keep doing this after each hairstyle would've been better.. continue braiding her hair down to grow out the damage and leave the lace fronts alone due to the glue and focus on pure sew ins like the first girl 💯(both have to leave the hairline alone)
@@emmily6110 yes all of this!
im in literal pain watching him relax her hair. her curls were gorgeous. why bro why 😭😭😭!!!
I thought the same thing. The only reason I could think of is she wasn't wearing her natural curls, she was wearing a long wig so he gave her a way to wear that same look without using glue. I'm sure he got her permission to perm her hair.
@@feliciaayala5768 I wish they showed her giving permission
He did not help either of these girls by relaxing their hair and adding weave. I was hoping this show was gonna help teach these ladies how to care for their hair this show is a joke!!
Yeah honestly
i was thinking the same. pretty disappointing but at least the women are happy with what they got 🤷🏾♀️
Disappointed in the first one esp. It’s like he didn’t get it. She can’t be court-side looking like that. I’ve been there. It didn’t really fit either. They wrong for those big braids in the front and it went too far back
Relaxing hair isn’t a bad thing if it’s done correctly. They probably gave them tips on how to maintain their hair after the show or whatever. We only see what made the show. But I’m sure as hair stylists they told her what to do at home. That’s what stylists do whn you go to a salon.
Right didn’t even give them a trim🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
The RUclips shorts versus the reality of this show, did not align, unless they purposely left the part out where he educated these women on their natural hair. Either way, the use of weaves and relaxing the hair for "manageability" was very very disappointing ( and disgusting).
I agree honey. It didn't meet my expectations either, I thought they were teaching the ladies how to properly care for their natural hair.
I'm from the whitest European country (Poland, a lot of people here never met a black person in person) and I love watching POC hair programs. I am full of admiration! For your patience, for your care, for your creativity!

why do we say poc just say black thats who we talking about
Everyone needs to watch this show so we can all see how much pressure we are putting on these women to feel a certain way about hair. Hair is beautiful in every curl pattern, color and texture.
That probably aint goin nowhere. Hair is too influential and expressive for us to collectively agree to treat it as "just hair." We could at least set healthy and realistic boundaries though 😢
@S Fr I didn't say anything about treating it as "just hair". What I am talking about is respecting others and minding your buisness because you're now causing people ingrained trauma and it's gross.
@@OctobersDaughter What ? Did you understand my comment? I wasn't disagreeing. I was saying that it's an issue that probably isn't gonna disappear. It's tragic, I'm not justifying it. And idk who you're telling to mind their business, that's definitely not what your original msg was saying when you literally started off with "everyone needs to watch this show." If it was directed at me, say it with your whole chest lol. I'm tired of people turning anything negative just to have shit to say
@S Fr I was saying "you" in general. Meaning the people who are making women feel a certain way about other womens hair. If they aren't willing to change their thought patterns then don't carry them out and pass them on. I thought you were quoting me so I thought you commented under the wrong comment. That's all
I agree but you know that unfortunately that's exactly what some nasty people are trying to do when they act those ways. It's terrible to see what some women intentionally do to other women.
Wait and he gave the second woman a relaxer? She probably doesnt need a relaxer to “manage her hair” And he really said “its all you” after putting extensions in lmao 😂
I hope that with the protective style, he’ll give her tips on how to keep it moisturized and able to grow under the crochet.
Same
As soon as he took the wig off that second lady.. she looked absolutely stunning!! And he didn't even do anything yet. Incredible that us women can't see ourselves. Because she looked beautiful just natural the way she was
Yes! And her braiding foundations were a great start too!!
She started off complaining about relaxers only for them to put a relaxer on it anyways. 🤦🏾♀️ When they could’ve just straightened her natural hair
I'm just horrified. Why did he relax the second woman's hair? Justifying relaxing her hair by saying it'll make it more manageable-WASNT THAT HOW HER HAIR GOT TO THAT POINT IN THE FIRST PLACE??? So disrespectful and sad:(
When he took out her braids, i gasped at how beautiful her natural hair was. I'm white and I want to watch something that actually honors black women and their beautiful unique natural hair:( I can't even imagine what it's like to be black and have to endure these types of messages endlessly about their own hair.
She came in disliking her natural hair and you go and relax it!?!? I’m extremely disappointed, I thought I might like this show, but I love black women and their natural hair too much. This guy is no better than her mother and sister who degraded her natural hair 😢 This would be an amazing show if the “stylist” actually liked kinky hair. We need to petition to get this guy replaced.
@@whyeventry45 No, she’s feeling and seeing relaxed hair. This did not help her.
@@whyeventry45 A wig would’ve been much better since it wouldn’t PERMANENTLY ALTER HER NATURAL HAIR TEXTURE. The problem was that she didn’t find her natural hair beautiful, a relaxer did not help that. Now if she does decide to start her self love and acceptance journey, she’ll have to cut all her hair off which will just make it more difficult for no reason !!
@@whyeventry45 No, he shouldn’t have since he can’t do natural hair.🤷🏽♀️
@@MelaninMonroe222 her edges were completely damaged and the glue discoloured her scalp. I think his priority was to give them a break while she also learns how to manage her own hair. Its a step in the right direction until she's comfortable being natural or finding less damaging ways to wear wigs.
@@rosegold.sunset4749 well said. She prob didn't want her natural hair yet, I'm sure they put a plan together before recording and she knew what she'd get.
Babes if your edges are thinning please please stop putting chemical products and glue in it.
Let it breathe for awhile.
Do oil treatments for hair and keep it away from heat and harsh chemicals... if your skin is irritated like that please allow it to recover
Your hair is beautiful. Let it be itself.
Edit: and please for every treatment you do to get it back in shape, do an alergy test on a patch of hand. You never know when you have an allergy to an ingredient.
I wish I could give you a miracle receipe but your hair is unique and you have to find what works for you.
Try some natural ingredients like rosemary, stingnettle, aloe vera, argan oil, green tea, shea butter etc They might help but again.. your hair is unique.
And while it grows back.. don't be ashamed of it please. It's beautiful.
As a Hairstylist I was initially disappointed about the second client. I really wanted her to style her natural hair. Then I had to realize that as a stylist it's up to the client to maintain the style if they choose to keep it. We don't know what happened behind the scenes. I immediately imagined that during the consultation she made it clear that she doesn't know how manage her natural hair. Straighter, manageable hair could be a precursor to her transitioning later and even making it a journey for her content. Relaxers dont come without risk, also they can be safely done in a professional setting. She probably made the best choice for herself. I loved the final look.
This!!!!
“I have trauma from constantly having my hair relaxed”
*proceeds to relax her hair* 😑 like bro her hair is so gorgeous WHY
My mum wouldn't let me relax my hair until I was thirteen I thought she was being me I really appreciate her now
Saving her hair with a weave... No cut... Nothing?

How In the world did this teach them to take care of their real hair?💀
Right?!? I’m mad they gave her a relaxer!!
@@chelschelsea2195 exactly she learned absolutely nothing about taking care of her natural hair
The bottom line is, if a woman doesn't feel comfortable or confident enough to wear her natural hair, the only way to straighten it is by heat or chemicals. A lot of women keep there hair braided down and hidden under a straight wig. Is that really being natural. What's the purpose of having natural hair if you're keeping it hidden under a wig? I have natural hair and I like to wear it straight. I use heat (pressing comb and flat irons). My hair is thinning because there is only so much my hair can take. I've now resulted to wearing one row of a clip on hair piece just to get more volume. So far it's working.. But for how long??
black girl here, the second "transformation" was so tough to watch it reminded me of my own hair struggles with relaxers and cornrows (both at the same time unfortunately). relaxing the hair (which is already damaging) then doing tight braids on that damaged hair, then adding more hair to that damaged hair...literally how is that going to help her natural hair 😭 sure, these styles look good, but they're not transforming the hair and guiding clients toward hair health. they didn't even address the main issues in this, let alone make choices that would regenerate the broken hair/damaged edges. ik different styles and techniques affect hair differently per person, but i was at least hoping these beautiful women would get healthy trims and sustainable hairstyles for growth, but no they just put a bandaid on the real problems. any way, i'm at least glad that these women felt better, but disappointed that this hair professional didn't actually do much to treat their hair issues.
Say it louder 👏 🙌
1 you don't need to relax hair for a sew in it's actively a bad idea. 2. His sew in was trash- she shook her head once and saw ALL her tracks. Man dislike, report for terrorism😂
💯
Yeah I'm just like well at least they loved how they look. I think the first girl made a bigger impression because she can at least fall in love with her natural texture but I was disappointed that her ends weren't trimmed (neither of them😒) and she wasn't given instruction how to care for and grow her natural hair while wearing protective styles.
Her hair was so damaged, he needed a starting point. Over time, once her edges come back, she can begin to wear her natural hair in confidence.
I thought this was hair doctor,? This is just more weave not healing own hair????
If you’re going to install a wig or weave as a protective style, you’ve got to make sure the real hair is taken care of first or when you finally take the wig off your real hair is going to be even worse.
I was about to wash my hair but stopped to watch this and now I'm pissed he DID NOT JUST RELAX HER HAIR! After SAYING OUT LOUD that her edges and scalp had chemistry burns? WTF! SMFH
Wow, braiding freshly relaxed hair! I would love to see follow ups on all of these ladies
I'm very concerned
Follow up on bad jobs would be great so that it can be a learning opportunity to heal the hair from any treatment

I wish they would have chosen a style with her natural hair. I was not expecting to see him put a relaxer on her hair after sharing her story of being ashamed of her natural hair and history of chemical damage.
Did he even cut off the damaged ends ? Did he do a treatment because without doing this and just covering the problem with weave doesn't solve the issues
The relaxer after she said that’s what started the process of destruction ? 😢I really wished there was a way to show her how to maintain her hair before it was relaxed but I understand how overwhelming natural hair can be.
The way he threw that wig in the trash actually did get me 😂 He really had me in the first half 😅
Soooooo you’re telling me that after them opening up about there trauma with feeling the need to hide their natural hair at it’s natural state, that you made them gain confidence by still doing literally the same dang thing that brought them into feeling insecure in their natural state? As a white person, learning over the past few years and going through cosmology school in Georgia has shown me just how damn hard hair is as a black woman. I had no idea just how difficult and complicated it is to just even do nothing style-wise. All the products to keep the scalp and hair healthy, it’s ridiculous.
I concur....glad you understand. Thanks
right?? I’m white too and I started to learn a little bit about black women’s hair & hairstyles out of curiosity and wow they really have it hard. it takes hours upon hours, a lot of knowledge, money and more.. I’ve also heard that it’s not that uncommon for black girls in ie school or work to be forced to "do something about their hair" to make it look more caucasian, which is so fucked up. like why am I allowed to wear my natural hair without doing much to it but they aren’t? especially when it’s so hard and time-consuming for black girls to do that to their hair? that’s not fair at all. they shouldn’t have to change their whole hairstyle just because some old white ass man doesn’t like it. anyways, I deeply respect black women for how hard they work to maintain their hair. it’s so sad that some black women are ashamed of their hair because society told them to, I hope that one day those women can embrace their gorgeous hair and their amazing hairstyles. I honestly think what they’re doing is art.
black women’s natural hair might be hard to take care of but my god, they’re so f*cking beautiful
@@deadbunnys Thank you for this, Lisa. I am a Black woman with the tightest curl pattern (4C) and had been straightening my hair since my mom hot combed it at 13 or 14 (I'm now in my 50s). Then relaxers until only about 6 years ago. I'm natural now and learned how to take care of it and it's the healthiest and most beautiful my hair has ever been in my entire life...and it suits my face better (who knew your own natural hair might be best for your own face???! LOL). Now I can't believe I used to relax it all this time. Relaxer literally has sodium hydroxide in it (the main ingredient in drain cleaner!) and it has recently been noted that this ingredient causes cancer. I'm sooooo glad I went natural. It's the healthiest and prettiest it's ever been.
This is untrue. Black people hair is only "difficult" to take care of when we try to force it to do things it's not supposed to do.
@@chocolatte522 Absolutely. Hair can be the easiest thing to care for if you go with what IT wants, not what YOU want. I’m a white woman with wavy hair and I only started caring for my hair texture properly a few years ago. Before that, it was a nightmare and would be frizzy and uncontrollable. This whole reason is why I’m sad that this show just more or less smacked a wig on it and called it a day.
Thank you for helping these girls.
I DID come here because it seemed like you were going to help them embrace their beautiful hair and teach them how to properly care but after reading everyone’s comments I’m not so sure. hopefully you can do some of these where you help them embrace their lovely hair!
Speaking of hair. I just watched a video from 1977 of Marvin Gaye in concert Live, and when the camera panned the audience, all one could see was the afro hairstyle as far as the eye could see. What a beautiful sight. Even Marvin tossed his red cap into the audience, he saw the sea of beautifulness. RIP Marvin Gaye.
Yes, it's so sad to never see an afro on TV anymore?!
Why is that?! Why does every black woman on TV have a wig on?! Very sad...we have gone backwards
As someone who’s never dealt with these hair issues, it’s shocking to me. I cried for her! I love how Dr Boogie says “let’s find a hairstyle that’s right for YOU.” Such a cool show.

Ppl w these issues need support & encouragement to go natural and learn to love their curls/naps. ❤️ Very brave of them to be so vulnerable on TV.
Exactly! It’s so sad to see these women open up about their insecurities for everyone to see and he just sits there pretending to understand and leads them to believe he’s gonna fix their problems or at least teach them new ways to take care of their hair when he does the complete opposite! I couldn’t watch anymore this show could be so much more but it’s a joke
Wait her problem was that she wore too much weave. The second girl had too many perms. I thought the show was gonna be about how to take better care of your hair not cover it up with more weave and RELAXER???? 😐 she just gonna have to take it out a week later and be right back to the same problem…literally they both could have gotten the same hairstyles done somewhere else without having to share their insecurities and life stories for thousands of people…
After reading you comment I see that the education they wanted was the first girl was to learn how to take better care of her hair weave. And the second girl how to take care of her relaxed hair with lace fronts.
I think this show is for the entertainment of non Black people. Have them share their trauma so others can feel educated.
@@PrettyINCs Yes it’s pure entertainment because I learned absolutely nothing as a black woman who has worn weave and perms and understands the damage they can cause. I just wish he wasn’t kind of leading us to believe he knows the secret to taking care of our hair when really he’s just styling it temporarily… He acts like he’s changing these women’s lives lol this show is kind of a joke
@@queenleo5578 I agree but he needs to just stick to simply that, styling or teaching styles and how to take care of them. He acts like he is going to “fix” the girls natural hair and teach them how to style it without weave and relaxer. But he uses the very thing that caused their problems and thinks hes “saving their lives” lol when they are literally gonna be right back to where they started a few weeks later and the temporary style needs to be redone.
This is a little delusional. They look gorgeous ofc , but the show keeps trying to make it seem like it’s helping women love their fully natural selves when he gave the second women a perm…??? “ stop pretending to be something you’re not” is literally what he said . And then he’s talking about some “ this is 100% you. This is all your hair, I did add some accessories to help , but it’s all you” . Lol it’s literally not tho
Just a heads up, there are lawsuits happening for women who developed uterine cancer from using hair relaxers. If you know anyone affected, join the lawsuit ASAP
I'm so happy that the ladies found their freedom. They are gorgeous 😍
It’s not really freedom coz it needs to be done again every 4-6 weeks.
Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness to these beautiful women.
God bless you for your time and talent.
Omg the second woman made me so emotional, her confidence was breath taking once she sorted her natural hair ♥️😍🔥
Doc?!?! Of what…. Weaves. He didn’t nothing with their natural hair but possibly give them cancers from the perm. That’s a known fact!!! He’s talking mess about the people he’s supposed to be helping. Their complaint is their NATURAL hair and his solution is a PERM & WEAVE 😒😒😒

I think all the critique shared in the comments is valid here. However, no one can expect a show like this to tackle the long and arduous process of recovering health of natural hair. Otherwise there would be no dramatic reveal!
I always tell myself there's a difference between a stylist and a hairdresser.. I'm convince that stylists main focus is to do just that, style; and some do that very well, regardless of the hair issues the client have, i'e ignore the issues and just style n give the client what they want. Then there's the hairdresser who actually not only styles but cares and treats the hair and would avoid doing a particular style if it is damaging to the client's hair and give the best advice to the client so they can help care for their hair themselves in between salon visits..
I love getting my hair done. Always feels good
I wish he didn't relax her hair.
That is absolutely sensational!! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ Excellent show excellent purpose. I wish that I can get a consultation for my crazy hair. 😆♥️
I think people misunderstand this show, I think it’s more focused on how black women can embrace more protective styles that look more like our hair, and also we all know that most of them on the show needs the big chop and that’s it, and some refuse that. So idk maybe it’s also about the ones that needs baby steps too🤷🏾♀️ I mean we’ve all been there done that, a lot of us are also still there. This show is not for us who loves our hair have been through the big chop and are now natural and taking care of our hair, this is more for the ones who aren’t all the way there yet and needs a quick fix but instead of the wigs and the extensions that are more 1-3 type of hair. He tries to make it as close to there hair type, whether that be curled, natural, silk press or blowouts. Because some can’t imagine themselves natural, some really need to see it on themselves with their own eyes to spark a change. And that’s more to our hair than just one look, like it can do so much more, or he wants them to get rid of the constantly 1-3 type hair styles and stop dem from doing more damage to the hair🙆🏾♀️
It looks like a hairstyle she could have gotten from over at one of her girlfriend’s house. I’m not seeing professional results in that style. 🤷🏽♀️
I would be shocked if this show had a second season. This man calls himself a hair doctor...what did he actually heal? The second lady ...he said her edges were burned from using glue then put more chemicals in her hair running the lovely natural texture he just raved about.
Right that’s what bothers me about this show is that he claims to fix their hair and change their lives when he does the complete opposite of that. It’s terrible that her edges were burnt like that and he just put the exact thing that caused it back on her hair. They completely missed their opportunity to be a great show with teachable moments as they advertise but really it’s a joke.
WHAT IS THE REAL PURPOSE OF THIS SHOW!
ARENT WE TIRED OF VOLUNTEERING TO EXPLOITED OURSELF ON A NATIONAL STAGE. THIS IS CRAZY!
😮😢I'm in tears. Due to medication, multiple surgeries, and chronic illness, I hide from myself and others. I have 4c very coarse and thick hair that sheds like a dead Christmas tree, I also have a dry scalp.... And a kitchen that needs remodeling😊 I have to joke to limit my tears. Just washing my hair is a painful chore, and to have my friends and family shaming me is extremely hurtful 💔
Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to afford the going rates for upkeep, so I wear wigs. But watching what he did helped them to take small steps of acceptance within, to begin their journey to love their own hair...be it natural or relaxed. I pray for an opportunity like that 🙏🏽 💯
Let's stop shaming each other over hair choices. Don't we have enough to deal with as Black Queens as it is?
Much ❤️ to all of the beautiful black women, but most importantly, I thank God for putting this video in my suggested lineup 🙏🏽
I'm a little confused about the concept of the show. I thought it was about embracing our own natural hair. I was also surprised see them put another weave in this client's hair after experiencing so much breakage from past weaves. The end result was beautiful but it still feels like a wig.
I thought they were gonna teach ppl on the show how to treat and pamper their hair as well as being confident in it
Kitchen, Dirty dishes & Dishpan hands
NO SIR❌️🚫✋️
Right? They need a BW to be the host of this show; a non texturist, self loving, educated on afro hair AND afro people, BLACK WOMAN who can fully relate to these women in every way. This man is not good for these women, or this show!😓
I hate how shady he is in the confessionals. Pots and pans, talking about the pics tags on the jacket 🙄
I want to see some truth behind the promises. Hes making it seem like all the braiding is for the protection of her hair when all it is doing is pulling it just like her headbands were. Why couldn't he just clean, condition, deep oil treat, and then teach her how to love and care for her natural hair? Why include more wigs or extensions? Especially if she's retired? Why do this? She's still stuck in a hair damaging cycle. Let's see some pictures of women who's hair is actually growing since he seems to have so much experience (Dr?) and so much knowledge on how to treat natural hair? Maybe because he's full of it? I feel so bad for any woman who has trusted him.
Watching this has me emotional. I grew up with natural curls and I would straighten my hair before and after bed to go to school. I love seeing women embracing their hair texture in anyway possible even in protective hair styles. No woman should ever feel like they need to hide their natural beauty to look a certain way.
Wow, so after talking about all the damage weave cause etc we just slap on another weave? 🤔
😔 shes beautiful ❤ I know exactly how she felt about not looking beautiful in front of her husband without her hair on. I wear long full ponytails and I feel beautiful with them on but my natural hair is dry and damaged I dont feel beautiful when that pony tail is off . And I just told my husband this recently 😪
Good for you! It’s hard to be vulnerable. Especially about things that your SO might not understand. You deserve you feel beautiful. Women have so much pressure to look presentable or pleasing, it’s so refreshing to just be our authentic selves. Keep elevating queen❤️
Hair will never make or break you. I hope your husband made you confident that he finds you beautiful with or without it.
@@MelaninMonroe222 ❤ he does sis he tells me I'm beautiful without my ponytails 😊 but I think it's my self esteem. I feel fierce with my ponytails on but because my hair is thinning now and my curls are frizzy I dont feel that confidence. I just got to get my hair right haha.
I love the confidence that’s the reason I’m a hairdresser changing lives ❤
It's hard finding a hairdresser.
The second girl had very nice natural hair. She looks pretty with it natural. Sad she doesn’t see it!
Right where is she now?
Why not a wash and go style? This was a total waste of a great opportunity to show women how to care for their hair.
Because he probably doesn't know how to. He's just a "popular" addition to the show to make it " trendy and entertaining" but he doesn't actually care about those things. I'm convinced he's texturist as well.
As a woman I love seeing women happy, comfortable and confident with themselves! It makes my heart happy. Beautiful women ❤
I agree with what many others have said. We can change the exterior but there needs to be deep, deep reflection to engage with the interior. The ideas we hold about our “kinky hair” and the origin of these ideas needs to be discussed openly. But idk if this show is the platform to do it. Still appreciate it though! ❤
These ladies are gorgeous! So wonderful to see them smile like that at the end. I do hope he continues to help them and teach them about care and upkeep so their natural hair can grow into those styles without the need for add-ins eventually.
OMG 😱. Why did he give that lady a relaxer?!!! Especially with damaged hair?!
I don't get it. He does exactly that what damaged their hair and spirit in the first place...maybe with a different technique but still the same. I thought he was gonna help them, heal the damage done in and out and how to style without damaging.
Diona wow absolutely stunning great job to this style team Mr. Buggy your vision is amazing.
What a beautiful show! Brought tears to my eyes to see him release this girls and just let them be themselves and love their hair.
Is that ironic ?
@@lauriannelzr no it wasn't ment to be but I did see a lot of the other comments after my post so perhaps I am ignorant 😅 they genuinely seemed happy with how their hair looked and how it made them feel.
Though I disagree with the perm. I think he was trying to get them use to a more natural look until their hair is more healthy to wear all of their hair. It can be very traumatizing to go from weave and wigs to natural hair if u are not use to it
These women need therapy. A hair stylist can't unpack the issues that they face with not accepting themselves and having self hatred. No weave, relaxer, or treatment can fix this problem; it's all internal. Hopefully, the time will come where all of these women and all black women who are struggling with this learn to love themselves as they are.
Oh my gosh! They are both so gorgeous 😍
Deanna didn't need her hair to be relaxed !! I thought you would help her recover from her past trauma and show her how beautiful her natural hair are! You could've cut bangs to "hide" her damaged edges while waiting for it to grow back and heal... Really disappointed tbh
Deana and Monique look so Beautiful 🔥🔥 those two queens yessss!! Okay Dr. Boogie I need to go to his salon
I may not be the target demographic, but I love learning. HOWEVER!!!! no one and I mean NO ONE! should EVER feel like they hate their hair. :( it makes me so sad to think that there are ppl that grow up unhappy with came to them naturally. idc who tells you what! you are wonderful and beautiful with whatever textures or lengths you were blessed with 💕❤️💞
So happy for her. I can completely relate I remember people saying my hair needs a blowdry or perm when left natural and even being told I look like a Lion. Am more confident now thanks to the natural hair movement and everyone wants healthy natural hair too. she is beautiful and I can’t wait for her to continue noticing her beauty
I've only watched the 1st segment with Monique and I'm not going to bother with the rest. "_you've ruined your hair with extensions and weaves. We do things differently here. We shampoo your hair and give you extensions." Wth?
I thought he was gonna talk more about how to fix the problems
Mothers, grandmothers, sisters etcetera have got to stop tearing people they "love" down. It's generational verbal abuse. That's part of what is wrong with this generation. We ALL gotta do better! Build our young ladies UP! Young Men too
Love this 😀
