Great reaction. The kitsune🦊 sign etc pre-dates this song by 2 or 3 years from when they started in 2010, but this song did move the lore on and add to it.
Megitsune' regularly tops fan polls for favourite song - they have also played it live more than any of their songs.
It reflects a lot of the Japanese culture starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains why the fox masks are so prominent in the video🦊) which in Japanese mythology are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional female role in Japanese society I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength.
They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong.
The breakdown with the pig squeals in the middle of the song uses the exact melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms).
When Su pulled the short blade (tanto) from her microphone she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.
Yes please with a live version. This is a great music video but live BABYMETAL is where they are always at their very best (nobody will ever complain if you react to the music videos and follow up with live performances of course).
There is a very good live performance from last year at the PIA Arena you can use ... rah2287 has posted the link below..

Although the backing dancers are holding shamisen, the opening of the song features the koto. The recent song Metali!! does feature shamisen.

The members are throwing kitsune signs as far back as 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning', their first music video.
That song was recorded in late October of 2010.
The first version of that music video was released about a year later.
Yui and Moa considered 'Megitsune' to have the most difficult choreography of all of the songs on the first album.
It made 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' seem soft by comparison. : )
Yui really liked the windmill headbanging they had a guy do for the 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' music video, and asked if they could have that in the dance routine for a future song.
She was very happy to have that included in the 'Megitsune' choreography.
The screamo/pig squeal breakdown has Chidori Yakumo performing a fan dance that was more or less incorporated into the live choreography.
The guys in white robes with fox masks, shamisen and drums in the video are dancers with her Movement Design group.
I recently had the chance to visit the Noh drama stage located in a shrine in Asagaya, Tokyo where much of the music video was filmed.
    Highly recommended. : )

I heard the fox sign was because Yui couldn't do the normal devil horns although this may be a myth. Only the fox god knows.
You should check Doki Doki Morning official video from 2011, the song is from 2010, which was even earlier being their first video. Su would have been around 13 and Yui and Moa 12.

    _Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥
Glad to see you're back with this suggestion, they were quite young in this one but wait to see Doki Doki Morning (that's their first song) or Iine!!, you can enjoy this song with the live sound of the Kami Band at Budokan 2014 or Budokan 2021 with the new formation. I always like to recommend the MV first because many live version got the intro with the breakdown spoilers.
Fans were enjoying and having so much fun watching this live every night at the World Tour 2023, you don't wanna miss the chance to see them live and performing this song like they did recently in all these concerts, we always love the shanenigans when performing live between the girls in the middle section after the breakdown.
This was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 (Yui and MoaMetal )and 15 yo (SuMetal, the lead singer), so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the "shamizen" you noticed, a japanese traditional instrument, and is a party festival song (matsuri).
"Sore" "seiya" and "soya" are typical shouts among Japanese festival and it works like a "c'mon!" or "let's go" for them.
During the breakdown you can hear another typical japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" and they're doing a traditional Japanese dance.
In summary, song is about female empowerment and if you follow the lyrics you'll see about it, "Megitsune" means female fox (vixen) and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and men tend to confuse and think they're cheating or deceiving like the mythological fox.
"Megitsune" used to be a peyorative term in Japanese culture, pretty much just like around the world, but BM is using this as a way to empower women despite the meaning itself.
When SuMetal is pulling out the "tanto" she's saying "maidens shouldn't be underestimated", that refers to a japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During live performance she does something different and looks really cool doing it.
Megitsune is a quintessential BM song and among top ranking songs by fans, SuMetal said she didn't mastered yet, that's why she used to sound check with this song before live concerts.
The origin of the "fox sign" is really long to explained but here's a short summary:
The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging and riding the Foxhole 🦊🤘
Btw they praised for real and made a ritual to the Fox God for this song to be a hit and successful, and thanks to the Fox God this is one of their major hits and favorite BM fan songs. -NotACult- 👀
This is a song with the arrangements by YuppeMetal, he took inspiration from "Memphis May Fire - The Sinner" for the drum section, another song that i recommend you for your own time if you want.
Next suggestion to enjoy a brand new collab while is hot:
    - F.Hero x Bodyslam x BabyMetal - Leave It All Behind official MV, F.Hero is the same Thai rapper featuring in PA PA YA!! another BM song.
    See you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

👍👍There are many layers to this MV. I like it because it gives more insight into their message. I also learn so much from the comments from the fan base: for instance, one pointed out how at the beginning YUI and MOA pull on SU’s Japanese costume and the next scene she is transformed into SU-METAL. React to as many versions as you want, The ONE will support you. 🦊🦊🦊 🖖❤

    Great reaction, thanks!
"Megitsune" is one of their most loved songs and their most played live one: 335 times... and counting!
It was released in June 2013. Su-metal was 15 years old while Yuimetal and Moametal were both 13 (about to turn 14) back then.
The style sub-genre is called electronicore, a mix between electronica and metalcore with a hardcore style breakdown.
It took 36 demos to Takehiro Mamiya best known as Yuyoyuppe (or Yuppemetal), the song's arranger, until Kobametal (their producer) was 100% happy with the final result. It may sound crazy but this is why "Megitsune" is one of their best songs (if not the best).
In my opinion, this music video is a masterpiece. And about its locations:
    - The stage where they are performing is called Nohgakudo (Noh theater) at Asagaya Shinmeigu Shrine in Tokyo. This is a stage where music and dances are performed during festivals.
    - The shrine right before the breakdown with the orange-ish torii gates is the famous Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto. The girls were so happy that the director traveled to Kyoto just to film that sequence.
I had the chance to visit both locations recently and I consider it some of the highlights of my entire trip to Japan. 😊
    Until next time!
    🤘‍ 🦊

While it is usually recommended to watch BABYMETAL's live performances, I am REALLY glad that you watched this official music video! "Megitsune" and "iine" (looks like Line) are the two music videos that have elements that are different from their live performances, so I ALWAYS recommend that people watch them along with the live performances. In this m/v you really hear the pig squeals well during the breakdown which are missing or just not easy to hear during the live performances AND it's a cool part of the m/v where Su-metal reveals that her microphone has a hidden blade! 🤘🦊🤘

Allow me to make a technical suggestion: when you pause, rewind the video five or ten seconds before starting again; that way you regain the flow of the video (tapping the left arrow key once on your keyboard will rewind five seconds).
The shamisens and taikos (drums) you see are just for show, the "musicians" aren't actually playing them: it's all about the theme and setting of the song.
An joke used among The One - what's your favorite BABYMETAL song? The one I just listened to!
The story I heard regarding the hand sign (kitsune) that BABYMETAL uses happened by accident: when the girls were first starting to get involved into metal, they attempted to make the devil horns hand sign associated with metal but didn't roll the two middle fingers in. Their producer, Kobametal, saw this and thought it would be worth keeping as part of BABYMETAL lore.
I've made my BABYMETAL song suggestions in a previous reaction video of yours but if you look for my RUclips playlist "BABYMETAL Top Twenty" that pretty much covers it.
    Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!!
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

So as now you have only reacted to one actual LIVE Babymetal performance (Kingslayer with BMTH) the rest including this one have been Official MV's which have studio audio no actual crowd noise or participation and no actual Kami Band instrumentals.
You have been given links to HQ pro shot videos of actual LIVE performances with LIVE audio , Kami Band instrumentals and crowd reactions but have yet to react.
Here is a link to this song (Megitsune) but a recent LIVE performance. If you take 7 minutes you will see the difference immediately and why so many of us tell you LIVE is where Babymetal shines.
