    Great Video. Dropping the spare tire only takes a few minutes, but it eliminates the need to create an extension for the rear drain. Any extension works when the tire is out of the way. Rear was easy thanks to this video. The front fill plug is giving me trouble. Canadian winters have left it rusted so the 10mm wont even go in. Will clean it up the best I can and go back under another day.

      Yes, your correct it wouldve been easier to remove the spare tire... but i was trying to show you dont have to remove it if you choose not too.
      If your having trouble with the front diff try using lubricant and tighten and losen the bolt. The back and fourth will help break it free.
      Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching.

      Same thing happened to me and I was thinking to myself: Do I have the right size hex? 'cause 9mm won't go in but 8mm is loose for the bolt. Imma find a way to clean it bc it's really tight space for the front T case.

      Pro tip - For the rear fill plug, it is easier to slip a ratcheting wrench over the allen head of the socket (8mm ), put the socket into the plug, and ratchet it out with the wrench instead of a ratchet. You can use a box-end wrench as well but it takes longer. Either way it saves you the hassle of getting the right length extension etc.

    Thanks for the video. For rear, I removed the spare tire, I use a fonel and hoses. For the front, I fill the oil with a long hose from the up side of the engine. Regards from MEXICO!

    Thanks so much for the video ( my dealer here asked 240$ for transfer case and read differential oil/fluid , car has 69 k miles right now , so I think I shut do it myself and be cheaper

      Fluid costs were about 40.00 if you dont go to the dealer and another 20.00 ish for the syringe. beats 240.00 for sure and its pretty easy process. Thanks for watching

    Thanks for the video. Have you heard anything about replacing both drain plugs on the diff? Apparently the service manual says not to reuse them.

    when i removed fill plug in the front fluid started to coming out is it normal ?

    • @TDLDIY
      @TDLDIY  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, that can be very normal. I filled it to the recommended amount. But lot of people fill it till fluid comes out and installs the fill plug.

    Could you make a video about how to change the front differential fluid if possible? I would very much appreciate that. The dealer change my transfer case fluid and front+rear diff fluid for 350. I know the dealer replaced the drain and fill plugs for the rear diff and I guess they did for the front diff too. That alone is $140 according to the Nissan parts store. They also replaced the washers for the t case drainage and fill plugs according to the invoice.

      I recently learned that the transaxle has the front diff coupled with the CVT.

    • @122willman
      @122willman 2 месяца назад

      @@HhhGggg-rz7bu what does that mean? No way to change out front differential or is the transfer case the same thing as front diff? Seems like there is only two services to do here and no front diff??

    • @HhhGggg-rz7bu
      @HhhGggg-rz7bu 2 месяца назад

      @@122willman it means the front diff is mated to the cvt inside of the transmission housing and thus uses CVT fluid for lubrication. The output splines in the transmission are actually in the front differential part of the whole transaxle.

    Can I use for front and rear both 75w-90 Mobil 1 synthetic? I have 2 bottles of there… don’t wanna buy a 80w-90 if can use it… thoughts,?

    • @TDLDIY
      @TDLDIY  Год назад

      I wouldnt use the same fluid for both front and rear, because it was designed for 2 different fluids probably due to the level of demand each one is under.
      My suggestion is to buy the proper fluid for each. I know it kinda sucks but it will be the right choice to maintain your vehicle for longer life. Plus it should give you enought to be able to complete this fluid change one more time.
      I hope this helps.

    Please explain to me what you're doing dude by measuring the new fluid going in it gets filled until it starts coming out the fill hole.

    • @TDLDIY
      @TDLDIY  Месяц назад +1

      @@willsrestorations Alot of diff fluid is filled until it comes out of the fill hole. But thats not always the case. I believe in one of these the measured amount was the same as filling it full. There is a reason why the manufacturer has the quantity required.
      I have seen some newer vehicles that require a certain amount vs fill. I honestly think they should be filled until it comes out the fill hole makes it full proof and easy to do.
      Just my thoughts.

    • @willsrestorations
      @willsrestorations Месяц назад +1

      @@TDLDIY manufacturers will always give you a fill specification and the number one reason is because every vehicle needs to state that fill specification and the other reason is, vehicles may not be level on the ground when the fill part of the maintenance takes place, such as being on ramps or uneven pavement for do-it-yourselfers.

    Does changing fluid helps with odd shifting . Its CVT but when reaches about 2.5-3.5k rpm from full stop and changing to like about 1.5k rpm like 2nd gear or what, this happens. 2018

    What tool did you use to loosen the transfer case fill plug? There's no room to fit my 3/8" drive rachet in there and turn.

    • @TDLDIY
      @TDLDIY  Год назад

      In the beginning of the video i showed some tools required. 2:43 I show what i used in the front. I purchased a narrow head 3/8" ratchet with a long handle. because i could get enough torque to remove the screw. The narrow head helped a bit getting it into the space. You will need the 10mm hex head bit.
      I hope this helps a bit. I know there can be some creative way to get it done as well. for me i just bought something because it was quicker and easier for me. Plus picking up another very useful tool is great. lol.
      Thanks for watching.

    • @TDLDIY
      @TDLDIY  Год назад

      I cant say for certain but the process would be similar to most vehicles that have all wheel drive. For example my ATV is similar process just the fluid type or quantity might be different.
      I hope this answers your questions.

      I looked around and i wasn't able to get a 100% answer to give you. But i normally do snug fairly tight, but not too much. similar to an oil drain plug.
      What i did see it was somewhere in the 20 to 25 ft lbs but i cant say for sure.
      Anyways i hope this helps. I would say snug it down and check for leaks if it is tighten slightly more.

    A tip for your viewers is never put that plug back on until you flushed at least a leader or half a liter through the fill hole to flush out all that shit. Big mistake everyone makes
