- A person can go without food for a couple weeks, water for a few days, air for mere minutes. But without electricity ... it's hard to say. It all depends on where you live, what survival skills you have, and how much you depend on the conveniences of living on the grid. But let's see what will happen to humanity if electricity disappeared for, say, a year!
So, there’s a bit of charge left on the phone, but your mobile data isn’t working. Nobody suspects that communication towers have shut down, which means no calls, not even emergencies! For now, all you know is, the Internet is gone! You don’t have any offline games either. Your phone is nothing more than an overpriced calculator now...

- The global economy is plummeting. Commerce, banking, trade, national and personal debt - they’re just gone overnight!
- Small communes have sprouted up everywhere. People extract water from wells, they stay fed thanks to agriculture and fishing.
- Light appears! Once they fix things up and electricity is back, it’ll take at least 10 years to fully restore the economy, infrastructure, and production.
- There’s a layer of it in the atmosphere that protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet and cosmic radiation. Lightning benefits the planet in lots of other ways too.
- Electromagnetic fields make all atoms and molecules stick together to form tangible matter - that is, you, me, and everything around us.
- If the charge in the electrons disappears and they stop repelling, then gravity will begin to squeeze them together with such force that a black hole will arise and begin to absorb all matter!

I lived off grid in the woods for 5 years. It wasnt easy but its do-able. You would be surprised how much work you can get done in a day without all the electric distractions.

Well you can make electricity with a copper wire and a circular metal pipe and pull and push a magnet in to it so each lane of copper wire will have 0.01 volts of electricity

Ever been to a supermarket during a blackout. At least at the one I was at during a blackout in Texas, they immediately start removing the frozen food to throw away.
The phone lines are supposed to operate on battery power for at least eight hours during power outages though not all wiring centers may have been maintained properly. Chances are their land lines should still be able to call the police so long as they have a wired phone not a cordless phone with a base station.

The first part of this video is exactly what happened in Texas. Starting February 14 2021 at 2:15 am but it was freezing. It’s amazing how accurate this was. Scares me to see the rest happen. Especially if we don’t know any off grid people.

Yes, but today's people are not the same. If electricity was lost for more than a few days, people would start dieing. A lot of people. Since the late 1940s when most of rural America was finally electrified, Americans (and most of Europe,) have become dependent on electricity to simply survive. Without electricity most people would be helpless.

@@RandoVO They're emergency generators, not power generators they are two different things. Emergency generators store electricity, that we might need just in case electric stops working. Hydro electricity generators store power, thats been harniced from whatever your trying to get it from. He's just talking about emergency generators that store just in case there is none, a reserve

The scenario is that electricity stops -- not that fossil fuels stop causing electricity to stop. It doesn't say how or why all electricity world-wide goes out. Since there is no reason which would take out every coal, oil, gas, and other power plants without fantasy explanations... we can assume the same fantasy explanations prevent electricity from renewable resources.

In Ghana, all hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, malls, banks, hotels, super markets, gas stations, radio/TV stations and cell towers have backup generators as a result of rolling blackouts we suffered in 2014-2015. Most upper and middle class homes have backup power too. I doubt see this to be such a big deal.

I have many Amish neighbors here in upstate New York, I live similar to them except I have a generator for electricity when I need it
Going without electric for a week was hard enough. In the winter it would be difficult but not impossible.
Many people would die, you are probably young but imagine if the water shuts off too, can you dig a well by hand in your backyard or find several gallons of fresh water per day just to stay healthy?

The one method of renweble energy you are talking about(upper-lower of ocean) is also hydro-electrcitry and depends on turbine, thus the energy being named as Mechanical Energy. Also it's less efficient than normal hydro-electrcitry that happens from falls like one in Niagra
