The idea of “The Simpsons predicting the future” used to be a fun one, and something that even The Simpsons team indulged in for a while - with them jokingly fessing up to being part of the illuminati or Matt Groening being a time traveller.
But now, it’s got to the point, when any event occurs, no matter how small - and a Simpsonsized version of it will soon appear claiming “The Simpsons have done it again.” And predictably, when the Baltimore bridge collapsed recently… we got an AI generated image claiming to be a "prediction".
So how did the idea of “Simpsons Predictions” morph into something so wrong? This was a question I wanted to answer, and my journey led me down a dark rabbit hole filled with insane TikToks and even an army of AI Joe Rogans...

Fat tony timeline
In Season 9, episode 12, "Bart Carny," we see Bart shovelling a giant mound of horse shit which means the Simpsons predicted "Simpsons predicted" posts & the people that make them.
In other words Simpsons predicts everything
Simpsons predicted shitposting?
High-five, my dude! You deserve it for such a hilarious and kickass comment! ✋
@@MaybeIMentalNo, it’s the Bort-Posters who are wrong!
At this point, I expect Bart to write "I will not use AI to make fake predictions" on the chalkboard.
And then that gets circulated as a so-called prediction.
I kinda want the Simpson staff to do it.
It doesn't help that the show has run for so absurdly long and has so many episodes it is harder to fact-check "predictions" and easier to accept "I guess I just missed that episode".
Oh my God you’re right!
Yeah if you don't ever even try to cross check anything. If they don't tell you what episode it is even after you ask the main source it is probably fake!
Yeah, and even if we just stay within the realm of regular established episodes, I kind of see it is akin to how Nostradamus had like hundreds of vague little blurbs that are meant to be predictions. The problem is that:
1. There is no expiration date, so something is just bound to come true via random chance / Murphy's Law
2. People can interpret their own meanings out of vague poetry so many number of ways akin to reading a Rorschach Inkblot test
3. The more "predictions" (or episodes here) there are, again that random chance / Murphy's Law thing will just appear to occur more frequently
Note that I say this as someone who used to be obsessed with astrology back when I was younger, and now at least have self-awareness of how easy it is for us to just force things to work.
ask "the real jims" or this channel or someone who has seen all the episodes. we have access to more scams now, but we have easier access to people who study everything from quantum mechanics (good flavin) to the simpsons.
Me everytime someone uses AI: "METAL GEAR SOLID 2 WARNED US ABOUT THIS"
I love that game
This game has a epic Soundtrack
Everything warned us about this lol
That's not really false
Don't forget the granddaddy of the warning, The Terminator actually thinking about it the real granddaddy is 2001 a space odyssey
I don't get how people think those ai images are real. They look so wrong and bad
They’re scary aswell
Aye, and even so my gut reaction now is to just assume something could be AI before taking anything at face value.
99% of the time it doesn't even match the style of the show. I have no idea how people even fall for this slop after looking at it for more than 0.000002359 seconds.
People are that dumb
Stupidity, the majority of the US is stupid
I love how they just didn’t try to hide “Apocalypse meow” 💀

Dead Internet is my favorite conspiracy theory, there's no way that a real person with above room temperature IQ believe any of that
Dead Internet and the Pizza Hount near Pentagon being more crowded before important events are the only conspiracy theories that I truly belive
You sir have too much faith in humanity people who are awful and really really stupid
Yeah. Or a humongous Simpsons fan like me.
That's the thing though, isn't it? You're assuming most people _have_ above room temperature IQ.
I don't remember where I heard this, but keep in mind that if the average person is stupid, that means half of everyone else on the planet is even more stupid than they are.
I ate a pink donut with sprinkles. It was chilling how accurate that Simpsons prediction was.

5:44 I find it funny that almost instantly after this quote finished I got an ad about how AI lawyers are better than human lawyers. "You really think someone would just go on the internet and tell lies?"
I had a dream in real live before I woke up that no one under stud me because I was in court and the Ai did not understand what I was saying .
What is that tom cruise movie where before it happens you are arrested befor it happens he's in this pool and then he goes out and makes the arrest???
Minority report
I think that is what it is called.
Like right now I have not typed in the word Minority entell now & it just poped up so the Ai IS Watching us. BOOM mind blown.
Just saying😮
And I was down in Florida on the news they were talking about putting theses things post like two feet tall coming out of the ground up to your knees that will pick up gun shoots now if the Ai was smart it would Pick up What gun waht bullet make of model blah, blah blah but I have not heard anything like that in Ohio.
I'm the guy that emailed you about Screen Rant using your material. Go gettum girl!
Yes thank you so much for letting me know. I really do appreciate you taking the time to do that
@@TheSimpsonsTheorywait what did they steal?
Tiktokers also said that the Simpsons "predicted" that if you ate the free burgers during National Cheeseburger Day last year, you would turn into a zombie. My sister told me about it and had to tell her that it never happened.
Now what does tiktok have to do with that?
@@MissEliMay_3 read it again slowly
You sure it never happened? You seen half the people walking around nowadays??
The difference is that the cheeseburger zombie scene actually _is_ from a Simpsons episode (Treehouse Of Horror 21) and not just some AI-invented crapola.
@@Theinanimatecarbongod And it was a parody of an existing Zombie Apocalypse franchise, so it wasn't even an original concept.
If people really believed the Simpsons' writers could predict the future they'd have to believe they knew about Phil Hartman's fate and did nothing about it
To quote a chalkboard gag: Being right sucks.
There needs to be some sort of AI detection becasue this is just getting out of control.
Ironically. A.I. would be used in A.I. detection
The most obvious fake ones are "episode from this year predicted" and if you go to episodes aired in that year the animation style is completely different
As a person who lives in Baltimore I find the bridge thing insensitive
Every single piece of AI imagery really wants me want to vomit.
Everytime I see how some people use AI, like this fake Simpsons predictions, I like to paraphrase Jurassic Park: I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it onto RUclips Shorts, and now you're selling it, you want to sell it!
They were so concerned about whether or not they could, that they never stopped to think whether or not they should
4:58 the full interview is considered lost media due to the recording being cut short due to a national emergency. There's a $1,000 bounty if you can find it.
That’s really interesting
We really feared the future of AI would lead us to Skynet but instead just further & further into Idiocracy.
I dunno about that, Idiocracy also believed that dumb people were also poor people doing more procreation, but the last decade seems to prove that the really, really dumb and the really, really rich share the vent diagram of a circle.
You should totally make more videos like this! It very much reminds me of LS marks type video essays!
Ah thank you! That's an awesome compliment :)
Why not just watch LS mark?
@@MissEliMay_3 LS Mark doesn’t do cover niche topics like these about specifically the Simpsons
@@MissEliMay_3 I do, quite a lot actually, as a fellow Irishman ( a real one not a yank ) I’m obligated to. The reason I’m giving this complement is because I enjoy this style of content, just as much as traditional Simpsons Theory
People will have a HD image and say it’s from season 6, not to mention the ai one’s look like posters not screenshots of episodes
This is why I hate AI.
At this point you could say The Simpsons predicted just about everything using whatever out of context quote or clip you like. COVID, the Death of her majesty, the Willy Wonka experience, and the list goes on. It's extremely unlikely that the Simpsons ever predicted this stuff. Most of it was either a lucky guess (for example the queen dying was unfortunately going to happen at some point so it wasn't a bold prediction) or some random thing in an episode from decades ago that is vaguely similar to something that happened.
What always gets me about the President Lisa "prediction" is that we're missing an essential part of context. He ran as a Third Party candidate in 2000 under the Reform Party (the Ross Perrot one). There was even a Mad Magazine article at the time that referenced it (Mad's Political Pokemon, I forget the issue number).
I hope the writers use their distain towards Simpsons predictions into a solo Halloween episode like Not IT & Halloween of Horror.
So sick of Ai
My hot take: simpsons predicted nothing we just made a nightmare world beyond parody
"Surely shes not talking about Graggle Simpson!"

The Simpsons predictions was funny at first but now AI kinda ruined it
Seen it on other topics, but your video really drove it home. Thank you.
Hall of the Mountain King takes me back to that advert for one of Alton Tower's rollercoasters

Disney+ has a collection of Simpson episodes that referenced predictions like Bart to the Future, Lisa's Sax, Lisa on Ice, Lisa Goes Gaga, and Homer vs New York
Oof
SEX!!
Well, again, they're just coincidences and Disney is just capitalizing on the success of a meme.
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ It's an unfortunate coincidence, like Fatman and Robin
The AI Joe Rogan doesn’t even sound stoned enough
We can only hope that YT is already planning stuff to help battle against AI generated content/videos, cause the longer they leave it, the worse it'll be and will only land us in another ad-pocalypse.
There’s only one Simpsons “prediction” that is an eerie coincidence is in “Homer vs. the city of New York” when Lisa holds up a magazine advertising a $9 bus ticket to New York and having the 9 next to the twin towers basically writing 9/11. I know it’s a coincidence but it’s still pretty weird
i just think that's one of the more unfortunate in hindsight things, like they had no idea that would age so poorly by sheer coincidence
"FUCKING SKYNET!" Arnold warned us "GET TO THE CHOPPER NOW!!!"
I was literally just watching the Quinton Reviews Simpsons Predictions video
So I have mixed feelings when it comes towards AI. While I totally get that it can be a useful tool when it comes to helping you out with the heavy lifting and with coming up with certain ideas. Oh not to mention that AI was pretty much controlling the opponents/NPCs in video games.
However as a content creator on RUclips and DeviantArt, I worry that it might ruin the “creation” of content creation. It’s almost like as more people who take advantage of it the authenticity of that human connection between creator and watcher/consumer is dying in a way. Especially if how unfair it can be to see AI made content get more views and money than one made by the works made by the human creativity. And I’m not just talking about RUclipsrs, but also musicians and actual artists who feel threatened by AI. The only people who are benefiting are entrepreneurs who are getting rich by taking advantage of AI.
Now I’m not saying AI is all bad per se, but it can be something that could potentially be concerning.
I just can't believe it. I can't believe someone would do something unethical for money. It just doesn't make sense.
Just going to say that a lot of the AI artwork is very creepy.
Agree, and they don't give full credity to the original creators, accuracy, and zero empathy to real-life tragic events, and some peoples include the actual creative individuals and team who done the heavy work in illustrations (which I have my B.A. degree) and animation field. Personally, I don't mind Tik Tok getting an actual banned alongside those AI monsters who would be lead to serious problem in the futures. More banned to AI and problematic Tik Tok users.
Apparently Matt Groening looks like Christopher Loyd according to AI… I liked his depiction in the 138 episode spectacular….
I especially remember in 2017 when they said *_"ThE sImPsOnS pReDiCtEd HuRrIcAnE iRmA!!!!1!!!"_* as if hurricanes had _literally_ (and I mean it when I say that word) _never_ happened in human history. PS. They said this unironically. I know this because when I called them out on it, with a list of hurricanes, not just hurricanes that touched the US, they replied with "ha ha, very funny". Anybody who _STILL_ sincerely peddles *simpsons predictions* should go -pound sand- touch grass, and never return to their devices ever.
Or banned permanently for all devices included the new ones. There's real-life topics that are already point out with actual people who have empathy, observational and talked to the public and prodessionals to this tragic event than those *think* is a hearty humour from ill advice users or AI bots.
the fact that it's not even "ai" so to say and more just an algorithm (AI is a video game term) then you'd know exactly how insipid it feels
Screen rant of all things? Good of you to call them out, Lydia. You’re a real star on RUclips I think!
Here even before the notification popped up! I've been waiting so excitedly for this.
Man whenever I see "in episode blah blah of season blah blah" I literally look up those episodes.
I actually started to watch the Simpsons again from Season 1 to the current seasons on Disney+ because of this channel. So more and more I'm like "That's not true, that didn't happen, that's not an episode" etc.
Or even a "that episode clearly came out AFTER that event." -- which for Trump, earlier seasons that referenced him he looked like a Simpson's character. Now he looks like a Celeb that the Simpsons want to be easily identifiable rather than someone you can assume is probably some celeb.
Old ones he's just a Simpson's style celeb with identifiable hair - the newer parody stuff has him with depth like he's heavier than before, has wrinkles, has smaller, squinted eyes rather than big round Simpson eyes, and his hair has multiple colors and more texture and detailing.
I was trying to get Meta Ai to do me an image of Simpsons predictions on 2024. It came to the conclusion that it could not make images from words.
The internet has made it harder then ever to discern fact from opinion, distinguish truth from lie. And that’s what scares me about AI. With AI, “fact” can be whatever politicians want it to be, and “truth” becomes subjective
These are getting truly out of hand. I miss when Simpsons predictions were just a bit of fun and at least somewhat accurate.
AI has definitely made things worse. I've seen many people sharing AI images and videos of supposed predictions!
The Fox/Disney gag was just another in a long run of swipes against their network. My favorite moment from the last 10 years was when Skinner held a showing of ‘Doctor Doolittle’. The Fox logo played and the assembly booed.
Great video , Lydia and James
Thank you so much 💛
This is what I have been saying for a while. I swear some things on the internet get blown up to ridiculous proportions.
I think the other reason the simpsons team got as tired of it as i am,
is because i think there were some people who really did think they were predicting the future,
i think for the hardcore fans who know better were joking,
but i think alot of the people who are not as hardcore thought the prediction thing was true.
Let me guess. Q?
Right Wing ruins everything they touch.

Bro those videos that say The Simpson's Predictions For 2024 Are Scary melt my last 2 brain cells. They either use AI clips or have terrible troof. How is Lisa being president predict Trump coming for office
Bro Lydia liked my comment W day
Honestly it’s horrifying how they believe in all of those conspiracy’s, when it’s really easy to tell if it’s real or not.
Yeah The Simpsons have been on for so long they're bound to get something like when it comes down to any predictions.
cool new setup 0:40
I honestly always thought the actual predictions were just things that were said were going to happen or concepts that already happened
also i am in the writers head and i know they were pitching how funny it would be IRL if sigfried and roy's tiger attacked them,
saying it's bound to happen,
tbh it's not hard to predict that sort of attack,
i will say though, sigfried who got attacked had lived with that tiger after and it never attacked again, and he lived with it til it died.
but any animal could attack you at any given time,
so it was really just bound to happen.
that "prediction" is kind of like in encanto when that one priest guy said bruno told him he was gonna go bald then he did,
bruno didn't even need a vision for that theoretically,
it's very easy to tell if someone is gonna go bald.
I'm very curious why people think an animated sitcom show happen to hold the answers to the future
Idk maybe it's because people can be gullible as fuck
@@Jimmy-yi7iqAgree. by ripped off real life artwork by not giving credits and royalists to the original creators (living or dead) and misinterpreted the actual episodes based loosely on real life events includes peoples or original ideas into a explorative get rich scheme or tried their dammed to be "intellectual" philosophers without thoughts, actual resources and talked to real life professionals in the field. 😠
Hey Lydia, you mentioned screen rant doing AI videos, ive also noticed watchmojo producing thumbnails that look AI generated, most noticeable is a south park video a few weeks ago with a thumbnail i can describe as uncanny south park-esk, its in a similar but off brand style of animation, with a shot not in any other episode and the person in it has no pupils, i think tgey did an ai image of creepy south park animation and threw it on the video, also ive noticed a ton of youtube shorts with yhe same AI voice that sounds like the old home depot commercial narrator
A good defense to this on RUclips is a community notes feature similar to that on “X”
I'm in college and one of my teachers legitimately said that the simpsons predicted that stupid willy wonka attraction, because of that one episode where homer made a shitty amusement park in the backyard
never thought i hear you curse before
I really dislike how AI has ruined the fun of the simpsons
Is that setting with the Simpsons merchandise just for that video or is that your new setting
the sigfried & roid tiger attack I will always maintain was NOT a prediction. I mean its a tiger in a casino w/ 2 people in flashy non protecive clothes. it was more so a thing bound to happen like how if you leave a pot running on a stove all day you're gonna ruin that pot
This is an important video. It's truly nefarious what people will use the Simpsons for.
Agree. Plus, it harms some potential and casual viewers to actually watch the new episodes of Simpson. And what's worse, some people seriously point those predicted to thr current writers included new ones who wasn't expected this tropes to go this dark, saddened and hot mess.
The One where Chief Wiggum imitates the police officer on George Floyd, got me. Not Cool AI.
I used to write for Screen Rant and they are actually great. They moved me to Comic Book Resources, who are equally as good.
Remember when the Simpsons (didn't) foresaw Pokemon Go?
1:30 at least THAT looks kinda close to the show's (specifically season 28-present) art style.
I agree with you when you say these clips are "Bullshit!"
Same. Especially, it take weeks or months to give a more polished results with the long development, feedback and getting a physical resources to complete from real-life freelancers or employee graphic designer, video editors, illustrators, and others to finish their work to clients and the companies in the media and entertainment.
The Simpsons predicting things has nothing to do with writers coming from Harvard. The show has been running for so long that it is a statistical inevitability that some random lines of dialogue or background gags would come to retroactively reflect modern societial developments. For every one thing The Simpsons "predict" there are millions of things they didn't. It's literally just statistics.
Yes and no. Yes statically with hundreds of episodes coincidences are bound to happen. However, this is slightly increased by a very smart writers room with experience of lampooning current and past events.
With how long the show has been running The Simpsons predicting the future is just accuracy by volume.
I want the simpsons to predict me dying because I'm tired of this bullcrap
When you imagine 30 years of imaginary scenarios based in reality and pop culture, some of it is inevitably going to come true
There is also the 2020 lebanon tragedy when People had seen what happened they mixed 2 simpsons episodes to make it seem like the simpsons predicted the future
AI is terrifying to me. It can easily recreate your videos and the people who abuse it can pass it off as theirs.
The scariest thing is boys and teens using it to create pornography material of their classmates and pass it around school claims it as true.
Not all men but almost always is a man.
@@user-cr6qv1bn2uOh, you’re a bot
