The allen wrench sets are available for $30 on a Prime Day deal for both Metric and SAE. A few other deals as well.

You gotta use step bits in plastic, wood, and very thin aluminum. You do not want to use them to drill out metal that a carbide but should be doing. I made the mistake of trying to use a step bit for drilling out 1" hole in thin stainless steel on a water foundtain....Smoked that 70 dollar bit in under 5 secs lol. I'm alllllllll about that Tao and die set!

I have the Wera Allen wrenches as like you have pictured. I bought mine before these came out. If coolant has the stainless steel ones with a ball joint I'll try those out and see how those stack up. Wera tools are expensive, but man are they good! Also, Coolant tap and die set is on sale for 150 on Amazon. Too bad I spent all my money on a Makita impact wrench and compact SDS....I have a problem lol

Having the sizes jump back and forth left to right in the case would probably drive me nuts.

Yup. And did you see how hard he had to push to put the wrench back in? Hard pass, if it takes more than half a second to pull out or place a tool/bit into it's slot, then it's a bad design.

I also think they were aiming for aesthetics vs. practicality.
