Yes! Ben was such a great character! Ended up being one of my faves. Locke definitely had the most interesting character archs, lol. I personally can't stand Jack. I thought he was a flat, vanilla, two dimensional, bore. Just my opinion.
The second that Michael Emerson uttered the words "My name is Henry Gale. I'm from Minnesota." I fell in love with him :') What a fantastic character and a wonderful actor!
Similar to many actors of his calibre, Emerson spent years doing theater in repertory honing his craft. Yet for all his talent he has retained his humility despite the ego driven culture of Hollywood.
One thing I love about Michael Emerson is that while he is not what most people would consider conventionally handsome (though I find him attractive in his own unique way), he makes up for it by being very charmimg, classy and sophisticated. He is always clean-cut and well dressed, comes across as well-spoken and highly intelligent, and he has terrific manners. It angers me when people call him ugly because he's such a gentleman and that's much more important.
Even as a guy I agree lol. When I was watching the show I was thinking, it’s strange how this guy that only stands 5 foot and seems even smaller commands so much of the screen and attention. He is incredibly charismatic and seems to steal the screen from anyone else he’s in a scene with
@@Chann2019 whenever he speaks he speaks so sharply, noone interupts when he speaks. Never in the whole show he said anything bs. Always classy and gentleman.
I still don't understand why Lost is still hated. It's really rare when tv show still wins emmy after five seasons. Lost was a great show one of the best of american tv show of all time. Everybody is excited today by game of thrones but it's all from a book. Lost was created from point A to Z...and even now since season 5 that GoT is "free" from the books, GoT is less good. Michael Emerson was a great villain in this show with many layers. Benjamin Linus is one of the most iconic villains of tv shows with Tony Soprano or Walter White.
I knew Michael Emerson in the 80's in Jacksonville - that man earned his fame as much as did the Beatles in the Cavern. Best wishes Michael! (Diane, your Hamlet groupie).
Very much so. You knew you were in the presence of greatness. I saw him play Hamlet 16 times. And other thigs, and his acting class.Very intelligent, kind, and stylish person. So happy he found success.@@moretac
He's good on Person of Interest (heck, he's good in anything really), but to me he'll always be Ben Linus, the most twisted character on a show full of them. This was a great speech too, as if we could expect anything else from Michael Emerson.
He is one of the most talented character actor, for sure! Especially when you consider how truly normal and sweet he is in his "real" life. I like the guy!
Well, that would be my first comment about an actor ever..Michael, thank you so much for your incredibly breathtaking performance!!! You are one of the most briiliant actors ever!!!
He deserved that so much! I love how terrified he looks when he stands up ; he almost looks to the camera as if to say "Holy crap, I'm gonna crap myself". Bless. :-)
For me it was Ben, Locke, Jack, Desmond and Sayid. And I loved Hurley but I wouldn't put him on their level. Charlie I liked sometimes but nine times out of ten he walked the fine line of annoying. Swayer ....overrated and given all the free passes by fans. Not a fave of mine. And the girls just were never written that well. Juliet and Sun was the only ones I really really liked and even then not all the time. I would put Richard on the list if he had been a main but... Still like his character. Great actor.
How did Michael Emerson NOT win every year that he was on Lost. For that matter how has he not been nominated for Person Of Interest. He is (IMO) the best actor on televison.
Michael so deserves that Emmy! He's a wonderful actor - His Ben Linus is so dark, and then when one see, Michael in an interview and he's so funny and smiling all the time. I'm very happy for him.
Congratulations Michael! I was so geeked when I heard that he had won, he really is the best character, not only on the show, but on television period. He was right, he's living a character actor's dream, and it's his talent that's maknig it a reality.
absolutely mad that ben linus was just supposed to be a guest star. He became the first cog in the gigantic wheel that was lost, influencing nearly every characters fate in one way or another
Just watched Lost again….binged in a week from beginning to the end…boy how much I missed so many details as we waited a week at a time during the original run…now that all episodes are available and we can watch them back to back…Lost is one of the greatest show of all time….if anyone loved this show at one time, I strongly suggest to watch it again in its entirety…now more than a decade later, I truly appreciate how original and interesting this show truly was…and how well it aged to stand in time even in 2022….I am so glad that I decided to watch Lost again…can’t say the same about GOT
It has an amazing and alluring start and I love the Flashback technique. But so much of the value of the show is in the mystery and I just felt like the mysteries in the end did not pay off sufficiently. Game of Thrones Also doesn't pay off sufficiently but It's not full of mysteries that in the end don't Pan out
Long time coming! Congratulations, Michael! How strange it is, you never know at any given moment whether to love or hate Benjamin Linus. What an amazing character both he and the creators made.
Congrats to Michael's wife, Carrie Preston (who can be seen at 0:33 and 1:20), for winning an Emmy of her own for her guest work on The Good Wife this season!!!
Michael Emerson is an incredible speaker. He deserves to win! :-) I disliked ben when he entered the show but as I watched him perform, my opinion had changed.
Point of interest was such a great show and he was excellent in it. Looking at the entirety of each show I would actually put point of interest ahead of lost because of lost's Ultimate failure to make good on all the build up
Based on the recent episode, Dr Linus, he deserves another one this year. Michael Emerson is an absolutely boon (no Lost pun intended) to the show. In spite of everything Ben Linus has done, I still can't help but root for him and hope things come good for him in the end. He deserves another Emmy this year.
His character was so brilliant, and Emerson made him so. I've never witnessed such convincing acting of a character who was so mischievous and guile. He's one of my favorite characters, next to Desmond.
This is so weird! I'm watching Lost now and I was thinking to myself, 'Man that Ben guy is really doing such a good performance...but it feels like a performance everyone will praise him for but won't earn him any recognition...never realized he won an award! Definitely well earned... THE ISLAND DEMANDS IT
Personal opinion: best actor from Lost...
its either him or Terry O Quinn as John Locke, both of them had such great chemistry and they're such amazing actors
Matt Josh Throw in Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond and trio of acting perfection
