I always assumed the mascot was supposed to be the Philadelphia eagle! Yes he does have some serious stuff!

20:13 I don't think that's a real mascot but it looks like it would be for the Philadelphia Eagles (Philadelphian here).
I really hope the sound of Ace slamming his face on the bench is the actual sound. That little bit is my biggest laugh.
Always felt they missed an opportunity when Einhorn said, “Penalty, too many men on the field” for Ace to say, “You can say THAT again.”
This movie would have been canceled even more than it already has been if that had happened.
Definitely cannot go wrong with a Jim Carrey comedy. My favorite is “Me, Myself and Irene”(2000)🔥

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is not only one of my favorite films of all time, it’s maybe Jim Carey’s best performance imo

Jim Carey as you’ve never seen him, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”…absolutely BRILLIANT movie, and Carey really displays his range here. HIGHLY recommend the watch!! Not your standard goofy comedy in the slightest.

Once upon a time, there was a tank in the stadium with Snowflake the Dolphin, and he did flip little field goals. He may have only been there for home games though. Soon enough that was ended, though.
This is one of three Jim Carrey movies that came out the same year and also had an animated series made about it. The others were Dumb & Dumber, and The Mask.
If anything demonstrates the crazy nature of cinema it’s that Hector Salamanca, high up in the cartel, fearsome and bloodthirsty, is also ace venturas landlord 😂. rent. Don’t tell me that actor doesn’t have range 👏

there was a bird mascot because the dolphins were supposedly playing the philedelphia eagles in the superbowl.
when the script was being shopped around hollywood, it was originally a serious detective movie that sly stallone was attached to. when he left the project Jim Carrey was brought on and the movie was rewritten as a comedy to feature his comedic background.
This movie put him on the map. in the same year two othe carrey movies were released The Mask and Dumb and Dumber.
policeman Emilio was played by the then popular rapper Tone Loc. Melissa played by up and coming actress Courtney Cox (who first appeared in the tv series friends and featured in the Scream movies).

The mascot Ace was beating up at the end wasn’t for Miami it was for the opposing team, the Philadelphia Eagles, which, as a Texan, I’ll proudly say was one of the best bits of the film! lol

Jim Carrey actually has a lot of range as an actor. The Truman Show 1998 is a great drama he stars in. The eternal sunshine of the spotless mind 2004 is another one.

As others have said, in The Truman Show, Jim Carrey plays a more serious role interspersed with comedy. It's really a good film that kinda makes you think about the bigger picture of who we are, whats our purpose, and who is our creator. I know i am being vague, but I do not want to spoil anything for you. should you decide to watch this film. Keep on being amazing......
Will add my own endorsement to the serious part Carrey had in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and the semi-serious one he had in The Truman Show. Both terrific movies and he was awesome in both. He was also great in the Andy Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon, for which he really committed to the role of Kaufman.

Truman Show finally gave him a real acting vehicle, check it out!
Actually, I liked him in Kick Ass 2. It is comedy with tragic tones based on a comic book. Chloe Grace Moretz is a little girl assassin called Hit Girl. Jim Carrey can do drama and comedy.

Jim Carrey has several serious films that he has done. My favorite Jim Carrey film is "THE MAJESTIC" which I think you would love, Also, most people's favorite is "THE TRUMAN SHOW". Check those two films out if you want to see his serious side.

This and the sequel are Jim at his kids netic best. The Cable Guy and Me,Myself and Irene are funny, but definitely run darker. Eternal Sunshine might be his best straight up performance.

I believe the footage of Ray Finkle missing the field goal is real footage. In Super Bowl XIX, kicker Uwe von Schamann missed in the game. However, the 49ers beat the Dolphins convincingly, so it didn't lose them the game directly.
Also, be sure to check out some of Jim's more serious films. Je is a great dramatic actor as well. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is great, as is "The Truman Show". "The Number 23" is good, but I didn't care for the ending.

You should definitely watch The Number 23 with Jim Carrey. It's a thriller movie. Not his usual genre, but he is great in the movie.

I’m sure the comments will be filled with suggestions for Jim Carey’s well known dramatic acting roles. Both he and Adam Sandler have made some of the best drama movies ever made. Generally speaking, really good comedians can act really well in serious dramatic roles, often better than serious actors.

If you want to see Jim Carey in a role where he plays it a bit more straight and less zany, check out The Truman Show. He still gets his moments, but they're toned way down from what you've seen so far. It's worth watching just to see a different performance from him, but it's also just a very good film in general.

This is DEFINITELY not the extent of Jim's acting ability - it's just that he was a comedian and broke into Hollywood through comedy after working on sketch shows.

D1CK AND JANE is a good Carrey film as well. Carrey in his prime element with goofy activities, fantastical faces, phenomenally entertaining.
For a good life lesson, try TRUMAN SHOW. and YES MAN. Other great Carrey films.

If you enjoyed this, you will love the sequel. It is by far the superior film. However, you may or may not want to watch the Stallone movie "Cliffhanger" as there is a pretty big reference to it.

Oh man. This movie and the sequel are some of the best movies I saw growing up. The 2nd movie is even funnier than this one. So glad you watched and enjoyed this. Another fantastic Jim Carrey movie is the Truman Show. It isn't him being 'over the top' like this, but he's still really good in that.

"The Truman show" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" are consider Jim Carreys best dramatic roles. Truman is still a comedy but very interesting idea. While Sunshine is a more dramatic scifi that is pretty good an sad.
Think that was supposed to be the other teams mascot, probably the Eagles.

If you want to see Him Carrey in less over the top roles, watch The Truman Show, Man On The Moon (about comic Andy Kaufman), and for a very serious roll, a thriller called "The Number 23". The Majestic and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind all show his diverse acting ability.
