This is fantastic! I think Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park would think this is really cool too, he loves to experiment with game-y MIDI sounds. I remember one of his streams where he was geeking out over a modded GameBoy he had hooked up to his PC and was using it to compose an instrumental (I think chat had challenged him to make a song that sounded like a JRPG battle or something)
Durring the ATS sessions, they made like 4 instrumentals with just sounds from the Atari.
Does that mean he would've been the person who made the "8bit" versions of songs in 8bit rebellion? They weren't authentic in anyway but had the 8bit vibe.

Yeah I been jamming it here lately too. But unfortunately after that album I really stopped listening to LP
@@MrMinionMoney Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora were all amazing albums. The band evolved after that and started doing less angsty and aggressive music. All bands evolve, but it just wasnt for me anymore... It was sad to learn that Chester's final years before his suicide were spent with him doing lots of side projects trying to recapture that feel of old Linkin Park but feeling like a failure. As an artist, making your magnum opus as your first break-through piece, then spending the rest of your career constantly being compared to that, has to be horrifically draining.
@@secondleasegamer8312 That's pretty depressing to learn. I had always assumed Chester had moved on from the Hybrid Theory/Meteora era along with the rest of the band.
@@secondleasegamer8312 I had a feeling that Chester had ended his life over people thinking his music was too edgy for some reason, but then I read up on his terrible childhood trauma and then the idea of him being bothered by other people's opinions went away.
Now I'm beginning to think that it was still a contributing factor thanks to this insight. Protip everyone: Stop shaming people for being too "edgy" or liking really "edgy" things. Just let them enjoy it without judgment.

Linkin Park's clean, technical style translates PERFECTLY to stuff like this. Awesome work!
The amount of work that went into this must have been INSANE.
these are made by taking already already done song data, "midi files" if you only know of that, and taking an already finished soundfont and just throwing them together in a tracker. there's not anything done by hand with these and why are they pushed out so fast. you can generally tell because since it's not actually using the N64 sound system, some holds and effects are completely missing, that would be handled there.
It's good to see Linkin Park's best album get more love, these days! 😊

NGL this would actually be really really useful for practicing as a group jam session, because the instruments are only MIDI inputs, each person can easily hear their own playing and it doesn't allow for the cover of the actual songs' playback.
Makes mistakes and misplays glaringly apparent and easier to identify and repair.
Eventually we're going to reach a point where every single album has a SM64 Soundfont variant, but also by that point we could have every single album in every game's soundfont... This is the future.
This... is something I didn't know I needed in my life. My body doesnt know how to respond to the nostalgia of both this album and the soundfont

Probably not as much effort as you're imagining, not to say it isn't still impressive. All you gottta do is convert the songs into MIDI tracks and then apply the right instruments to the right notes, and then mix it (i'm assuming this is the most time consuming and individualized part of the process) also OP, if i got anything wrong here please correct me.
