What an absolute privilege to see a Kingfisher sit for so long… also as you say the beautiful Fox… as a live aboard I’ve only ever seen the blue streak of Kingfisher as they Zip along the canal… I wish I could draw “half as good as you”…
These vlogs are just getting better and better, they're like little works of art. Talking of art, are you going to publish that beautiful book you're creating? I would buy it. The filming of the fox was amazing and in the same vlog as the kingfisher...stunning! You've developed a style that is so relaxing and down to earth, a perfect antidote to the stresses and troubles that we're all plagued with at the moment. Thank you, Tony 😄
Hi Tony, thank you so much for your lovely kindness. It is so good to know that you find the vlogs relaxing and down to earth. In December, I aim to print some copies of this year's journal if anyone wants to have one, so it is wonderful to know that you might like a copy. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
To borrow a line from Sesame Street, “today’s Vlog is brought to you by the color orange”… Orange in the trees, orange in the tunnel minerals, orange on the Kingfisher, orange on the caterpillar, and orange on the beautiful fur of the fox. And, as an added bonus, we all get to experience being silently judged by three different animals: the Kingfisher, the fox, and Zephyr at 16:20. Thanks once again, and I hope you have a great week.
Oh, Brewster, Sesame Street brings back memories of when my children were little and waking up at ridiculously early hours, Sesame Street was a life saver! You are right about the colour orange and this week's vlog. Zephyr likes to sit on the sofa and stare over the edge of the dinette like that when I am working or just when she thinks it is time for her to have some more attention. It really makes me laugh! Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋🦊
Vanessa, your filming is stunning especially the fox, gorgeous. I mentioned in a earlier vlog that Leicestershire is such an underrated county. About 10 years ago I went touring New Zealand, just north of Wellington we stayed in a small b&b in a village/small town called Foxton, went inside & the elderly lady whose house it was had a model of a narrowboat, when I asked her how she came across it she had actually visited Foxton Locks, small world. Sorry to ramble on. Regards Mike.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Michael. I really appreciate them. What an amazing story to be in New Zealand and see a model narrowboat bought at Foxton Locks! I think that is such a super coincidence and the town that you stayed in was called Foxton too. You were so right about Leicestershire- it deserves much more credit than it gets; but sometimes keeping it a hidden secret, preserves it more. Have a super week, take care🦋🌻
Thank you so much, Francis. Foxes are indeed such beautiful creatures and I was over the moon when I spotted this one. Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋🦊
What beautiful shots of the Kingfisher and that Fox. That would've made my day. Sounds like your very busy having your fingers in many pies. What a wonderful gift from Australia. It must of been hard getting it to you. Lovely fox drawing. What a treat your vlogs are Mrs mindful. Stroke Zephyr pat Mike and get India fixing your steering. Ha ha Ta Ra
Hi Will, thank you so much for such a lovely comment. I was over the moon to meet the fox. Such a beautiful animal! Getting the parcel was tricky as I was using post restante and couldn't work out where we would be at what time: narrowboating is hard like that isn't it? When I got it though, it was like Christmas! Have a safe journey and stay dry and warm now ,Mr Will. Take care🌻🦋
You are right NBWill...what was supposed to take weeks turned into a saga of mega proportions getting that package to Vanessa...was just a little something to keep Vanessa occupied when the canals freeze over🤗🤗 cheers from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
I cant imagine not watching your vlogs, they are so uplifting. Einstein is right Nature has all the answers if we only see, listen and connect. The fox is magnificent and so was Zephyr for keeping calm. 💚
Hi Sheila, thank you so much for such a lovely comment. I am so pleased that you find the vlogs uplifting. Einstein was totally right about nature and understanding everything; it is such a good quote isn't it? Zephyr was on a very short lead next to me, when I was filming the fox and she barked once when it came into the same field as us which is why it noticed us. She was very good though and didn't bark anymore after that. The fox was so beautiful and I was completely entranced by its ears and the way they rotated in opposite directions. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
The man upstairs has bless you with an absolutely amazing talent. To be able to put to paper, what do you see through your eyes is absolutely mind-boggling. I'm not a art connoisseur however, I do appreciate extreme talent when I see. I have watched quite a few of your videos and to be able to do what you do is equivalent to an amazing musical talent. I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and I certainly admire the countryside in which you live. Scenery is spectacular and you are able to capture all of it. God bless you.
Hi Vanessa, such a interesting blog lovely scenery on the way yes not a lot of room with the tree in the canal, what a beautiful picture of the kingfisher and the fox what a beautiful tail he had ,love watching you drew you are so good at art work, till next time take care keep yourself safe,John 🌹👀🦆🤩
Hello John, I hope that you are keeping well? Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am so glad that you enjoyed the kingfisher and the fox. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, take care🦋🌻🦊
Watching this on my late lunch break on my very busy midwife shift . What a lovely way to unwind. I really look forward to your Friday video. Thank you xx
Lydia, you work so hard and do such an amazing job of bringing new life into the world. What a star you are!⭐️ I am so pleased that you enjoyed some moments of relaxation on your late lunch. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
When I was in the ambulance service, our relief, on home births (once a car birth!) when the midwife arrived, was immense! Though funnily enough, every midwife that arrived was always relieved to find an ambulance crew! Much respect to you
Beautiful, I managed to save your film until supper time (mainly due to being busy) and it was the perfect accompaniment to Cheese on toast and a glass of cider. Off to bed with my own boating memories now. Thank you.
Hi Garry, cheese on toast with cider sounds like a really comforting supper to me-😋 I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋🍞🧀🍺
Hi Ann, I really hope you are ok? I might have misunderstood your comment, but I've read it, that you are feeling low at the moment and if you are, I am sorry to hear that. I am pleased that the vlog helped you; it means a lot to me to know that. I'm sending you all my love and best wishes for this week and thank you so much for your lovely and kind words. Take care, Ann🤗🌻🦋💚
❤😢thank you so much for another beautiful calming video seeing a fox and a kingfisher wonderful. Zephyr to is enjoying his best life. I was quiet emotional watching this morning but maybe it’s the effects of being poorly with COVID for 3 weeks bringing emotions out. The wonderful Autumn colours on the Canal are just gorgeous. Take care ❤
Oh Maureen, you've been ill for 3 weeks, that is awful! I really hope that you are starting to feel better? I am glad that you found the vlog calming though- autumn is displaying some perfect filming opportunities this year. Have a wonderful, restful weekend. Get well very, very soon, take care❤️🩹🌻🦋
That was beautiful Vanessa. Laughed out loud at the look on the face of the kingfisher when she stared (haughtily) straight at you. Gazed in awe at the fox. Thank you for sharing the wonder of nature with us. Take care and stay safe. x
Hi Jill, thank you so much for such a lovely comment. The kingfisher made me laugh too and I was over the moon to see the fox. I have wanted to film fox for a while now and to see one at Foxton was magic! I hope that you are ok? I have been thinking about you this week. Look after yourself, Jill. Take care🦋🌻🦊
Vanessa, You are a marvelous nature photographer. One of my dogs watches your vlogs for Zypher and other animals. The long fox sequence had him barking his head off for the entire sequence. My wife usually guesses your featured subject for each vlog's poem but this week had us befuddled due to so very many likely subjects. We both recognize and appreciate your great talent. Have a lovely fall week!
Hi John, thank you so much for your wonderful support; I really appreciate it. It is super to have dogs watching and enjoying the channel too- I feel honoured to have canine followers.🐶🐶 Zephyr keeps a close eye on the edit as you can see from vlog this week. I was going to include the kingfisher in the journal, but I have wanted to film a fox for such a long time, that I just had to let it have its own page. Also, the drawing took me ages as I kept getting the proportions wrong- and having to rub it out! Thank you both, once again. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻🦊
This is Marvelous 😊!!!!! Sooooo Calming......even Ginger Dog was watching!!!!! She was soooo intense watching the Cute Little Fox 🦊 !!!! Cracked my up !!!!! The first time she ever seen such a "Beast" !!!!
Hi Tessa, I hope the fox stays safe too as it tries to make its own way in the world. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋🦊
Wow Vanessa you have really excelled yourself with this vlog! Amazing footage of the Kingfisher and Fox and the canal looked beautiful with all of the colourful autumnal leaves. How kind it was of that lovely lady to send you such gorgeous gifts all the way from Australia! Lovely journaling as usual, I can’t wait to hear what the project is that you mentioned. I had no idea that it takes so long to film and edit a you tube vlog. Thank you Vanessa, stay safe and well. X
Hi Shirley, I hope that you are well? Thank you for your lovely comment. I was so lucky this week to spot a kingfisher and a fox- I had to pinch myself! It was so exciting to get a parcel from Jenny in Australia and she was ever so patient as I tried to find the best way to get it sent to me. It's tricky knowing whereabouts you are going to be to collect post. I think that I am particularly slow at editing, but it's a pleasure to be able to put together a vlog each week. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
Thank you🙏 for your lovely comments Shirley that package took on a life of its own as weeks turned into months of travel....quite an adventure (could just about turn it into a childrens story...The Adventures of Percy the Parcel.... 🤭🤭) Who doesnt want to reward Vanessa for all of her beautiful vlogs they certainly make my night for sure. Kind regards from Jenny in Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘have a lovely day🌹
Hi Christine, I couldn't believe my luck to spot a kingfisher and a fox in the same week. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Have a wonderful weekend and take care too 🌻🦋🍂🦊
I love Foxes they are just beautiful. I had the privilege of seeing one in daylight at a distance when I was in England. Your vlogs are wonderful I can't stop watching them.
It was such a pleasure meeting you this week Vanessa and spending some time, I'm so happy you got to see so much gorgeous wildlife and capture it so beautifully for us. I can see now where the inspiration for your wonderful gift came from - I will always treasure it, thank you! x
Hi Lizzie, it was a pleasure meeting you too and we will have another nature ramble again very soon. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the gorgeous bunting which is really brightening the boat up. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
What a beautiful fox, I’m fortunate that I can sit in my lounge and watch foxes play in the adjacent field, I love how close to nature you get and it helps me learn to identify things, I’m just looking back on some of your older videos they are always so interesting it’s amazing how many interesting facts you find out too. Take care❤️
Many thanks yes I have heart n pancreas problems I no many older people 77 have their trouble but watching you does help me thank for your kind reply tc now Ann🙏🦋
Thank you so much, Jack! What a lovely comment😊 It is a great stretch of canal and a pleasure to live on for a while. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
Vanessa I totally agree with Azzy Twoz your vlogs are amazing! The way you can take a bunch of random video clips and weave them into a story I watched this one three times. I have never seen a Fox in my whole life in person. Now thanks to you I know what it's like to come across one in the wild To bad you did not manage to catch the bats in the tunnel. Once again thank you for taking my mind off the stuff that's going on in the world, and giving me hope that their are a lots of good people in the world like the friend who sent you those books and the card with the dragon fly on the front. It is good that you find so many kindred spirts. Take care Vanessa and have a great week. See you next Friday. Steve
Oh Steve, you are such a kindred spirit too! Your comment is so lovely and thank you so much for watching the vlog 3 times. I have never been that close to a fox before and I held my breath so that it would stay for as long as possible. Zephyr let out a little bark which is why it spotted us, but I was over the moon to have spent those precious minutes with it, watching it twitch and rotate its ears. I am so pleased that you share the wonderment that I do and appreciate it too. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, take care🌻🦋🦊
Thank you Steve for your lovely comments it would be a pleasure to call Vanessa my friend even though she doesnt know me from a bar of soap as we say in Oz. Have a lovely day cheers from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🙏
@@jennyc1846 Thanks Jenny. A bar of soap that's an expression I have not herd before Vanessa is a lovely person but I too have never met her in person. I do love her vlogs though it takes my mind away for a while of all the crap that is going on in this world. At least for a little while. It was very nice of you to comment on my comment a long time ago I thought of living in Australia I think it's a beautiful country :)
@@mellow2990 Hi Steve, we have a lot of funny sayings in Australia we use them so often we forget the rest of the world hasn't a clue what we are talking about.... people think we are weird haha. Even though I know what awful things go on in the world around us I try not to think of them. I dont watch TV or go to the movies (or if I do I watch animated Disney ones with my teenage grandies) but read the books of my choice and watch vlogs like Vanessa's or Bryce's 'Living Big in Tiny Houses' which are all things nice and positive as are the people who also watch them ;) It does us no good to be negative or worry about what we cant change in this sometimes crazy and nasty world. I live in Western Aust. I have lived in beautiful Tasmania too and grew up in Victoria. I have travelled to New South Wales but havent been to Queensland (unless you count a holiday in my early teens with my parents to Brisbane) or the Northern Territory. have a great day and stay well and be happy.

Hello Vanessa your videos are a breath of fresh air. Have had the worst weekend ever. My sister has just been diagnosed with ALL heartbreaking. I turned your video on this morning beautiful. Sat watching it and loosing my self on your journey. Thank you ☺️
Oh Sandy, I am so sad to hear about your sister. It sounds like such a difficult time for you all as a family and I wish you strength and love in working through it all. Never give up hope. Look after yourself and I will remember your sister in my prayers. Take care🦋🌻
@@jennyc1846 thank you Jenny for your reply. No it’s ALL acute lymphatic Leukaemia. She’s still having chemotherapy. She has been treated since December 2021 and she’s still here which is amazing. Every day is a bonus for us. Thank you 🙏 x
I believe that is you most beautiful vlog yet! I love everything about this! Your fox was beautiful. Mother Nature gave you a great gift in the sighting of a fat, healthy fox!💕
Hi Jayne, thank you so much for your lovely comment. It was such a special week to be able to sit and film the fox- what a beauty too!🦊 I am very grateful to Mother Nature for that one! 💚 Have a super rest of the week, take care🦋🌻
Spending time observing nature and wildlife is the most special part of my day. Sometimes, I might be feeling unwell and it is difficult to drag myself out to walk, Zephyr, but once I am out, it is always a complete recharge for me and I just love it. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
What a beautiful part of the canal network. I love the way you research the area's wildlife. The tunnel hmm maybe =-) not really into tunnels but would have loved to see bats. Albert Einstein was an amazing person who understood human nature and the needs of the learner. Thank you as always Vanessa. I'm interested in your journal as well =-) Take care =-) Aww the fox, so beautiful.
Hi Lorraine, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I wish that I had seen some bats too, but hopefully one day, I will return and spot them. 🤞🦇 The quote by Einstein is spot on isn't it? Thank you for your interest in my journal. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
Absolutely love your drawings and how u use it to wrap up the vlog along with your poetry. Magical. Keep going please. Lifts my spirits to watch these episodes
I did my helmsman course from Debdale and when itook the boat through the tunnel I was concentrating so much on not hitting the walls I didn't notice the bat boxes. Now that I know they are there I want to go back and see them. Your vlogs are a lovely way to unwind after a long week.
Congratulations on your helmsman course and not hitting into the walls in the tunnel. I think, on a summer's evening, slowly cruising through the Saddington Tunnel would be a good time to spot the Daubenton Bats. Thank you for your lovely comment; have a wonderful weekend- take care🌻🦋
You are brilliant with the knowledge of the flora and fauna! I love learning more about your country via the countryside. Thank you for such a sweet and peaceful video.
Hello, Stormsparrow, it is lovely to read your comments- thank you so much for taking the time to make them. I am just learning as I go in terms of the flora and fauna; it absolutely fascinates me. I bet you have some incredible wildlife in Texas? Take care🦋🌻
Thank you for another lovely video. Stunning autumn colours showing through now ,beautifully captured in your video. Thank you for the kingfisher and the beautiful fox a real joy to see. Take care 🌻
You are so welcome, Eric. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the kingfisher and the fox. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super Sunday and week ahead. Take care🌻🦋
As always, so soothing and beautiful, especially the drawing of the fox. I was fascinated as you made it take shape. I've been saving this episode until I had a quiet time to enjoy. Thank you.
I am so pleased that you found some quiet time this week. It is so important to find a bit of peace and I am honoured that you chose to watch my vlog in it. Have a wonderful and quiet weekend; thank you so much for your lovely comment, take care.🌻🦋
Foxes have a special magic about them, don't they. I couldn't even breathe when I was filming it as I was so excited to see it! Thank you for watching! Take care🌻🦋🦊
I hope that you had a lovely week, Paul and I am pleased to have ended it well for you. Thank you for your kind comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
What a peace the water and the autumn green give. You make beautiful poems and watercolors. The tunnel sometimes looks like a cave with a stalactite. A nice blog.
Absolutely love your videos they show Nature at her best. Your attention to detail is amazing. I liked the close up of the caterpillar. The kingfisher was beautiful and when I saw the fox it reminded me of when I had a vixen and her cubs in my garden. She came every day, groomed them and then they all fell asleep. Amazing creatures. Your videos are so uplifting and your poems and sketches are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe out there. Kind regards.
Oh Elizabeth, to have a vixen bring her cubs into your garden must have been so special! 🦊 Hopefully, she will keep revisiting you.🤞 Thank you so much for your lovely comment- it is great to know how much you are enjoying the videos. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland You've excelled yourself this week. Nature wise, one of your best videos yet. "A Fox at Foxton" was absolutely stunning, The starlings, kingfisher, heron and insects were all beautifully filmed with a wonderful commentary to go with it. A gorgeous cruise towards Foxton Locks, admiring the autumnal golds reds and browns as we went by. The journey through Saddington Tunnel was very exciting. Gorgeous colours inside were photographed expertly. Congratulations - superb vlog. "One spot for one week" - really makes sense to me. Stay safe please
Hi Michael, what a beautiful comment, thank you so much!🤗😊 I was very lucky last week to spot so much wildlife; I was walking around wide-eyed and had to pinch myself after I spotted the fox🦊 I think Leicestershire is a gem for nature. It is a pleasure to be able to share it with people like yourself who appreciate it too. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
Thank you for another wonderful vlog. I was thinking about you this morning before I watched this. One of my daughters spotted a Syrian woodpecker at the top of a telegraph pole near where she lives. She says that the woodpecker comes every year but today, for the first time, she was able to take a photo and video. I thought that you would have liked that! However, we're around 5,000 miles apart from you! 🥰🥰
How right you are, Ruth, I would have loved to have seen a Syrian woodpecker. How exciting to have finally caught it on camera like that. Well done to your daughter! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super Sunday and week ahead, take care🦋🌻
Such a wonderful sighting of that stunning fox. You must be so stealthy Vanessa, while I've seen plenty, I've never seen one so closely while it's hunting. Good ole Zephyr remaining so calm too. Happy travels. X
Hi Terry, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I think the fox didn't notice me as I was crouched low on the grass filming a tiny chickweed flower and then, I looked up and spotted the fox moving in the next field. I quickly put Zephyr on the lead and kept her very close to me. Then the fox, came into our field and Zephyr say bolt upright watching, but it came too close for her liking and she barked, only then did the fox see us. That is when it leapt away. I was absolutely over the moon to have spent several minutes watching it like that. Have a super Sunday evening and wonderful week ahead, take care🦋🌻🦊
The passage through the tunnel was magical, seeing the mineral deposits and the incredible brick work and thinking about the men (no women?) who built the tunnel - the skill, effort and persistence required to produce something of 'use' that is simply beautiful. What a chance to meet the fox, and to see her or his touching expression. I loved the end of your poem: A chest full-moon white, A coat of smokey sunset light.... In the last weeks I have seen a few foxes running alongside the road past our house (in the countryside)...and often find their faeces by the road ! Have a good week ahead Vanessa. Take care😘
Hi Wendy, thank you so much for your lovely comment. The mineral deposits in tunnels are like works of art aren't they? I find them spectacular to look at. You are right about the detail in the brickwork to build something like that. It must be super to be able to watch foxes on a regular basis like you do, apart from the faeces bit- Zephyr likes to roll in that stuff and the smell lasts for days no matter how many times she is shampooed! Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
Once again I was so wonderfully immersed in watching your absolutely superb wildlife adventure.this video was most enjoyable simplistic and truly fascinating in its entirety.just a very relaxing cruise along the canal.the beautiful autumnal colours of the leaves were so breathtakingly spectacular.just an amazing treat to behold.I’ve noticed that you definitely got great poise whilst working the narrowboat tiller arm.you certainly make the whole thing look so very easy wow what a scary tunnel which looks most inhospitable to enter.also your splendid wildlife vlog certainly raises one’s spirits in this time of unfortunate upheaval.that is upon us all .hopefully in due course.this situation will resolve itself eventually.happy continuously cruising the cut,
Hi Anthony, I really hope that you are well and that you have had a good week. Thank you so much for another lovely comment.😊⭐️ The world is rather topsy turvy right now, isn't it? But the leaves are still changing colour and falling from the trees; the fox still bounces through the field and the kingfishers are decorating the branches along the canal; these things keep me hopeful and sharing them helps me too. Have a super Sunday and week ahead, take care🦋🌻🦊
Happy Tuesday ❤ like ive said before its great to come home after a hard days work shower then watching a lovely and very informative video like yours to unwind x tq and family and its our 41st wedding anniversary today which we both forgot o😅😅😅😅 take care x
Hi Nigel, oh the fox was a beauty and I was on cloud nine after watching it that evening! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super Sunday and week ahead, take care🌻🦋
Hi, a practice I used when transiting narrow tunnels. Four knots (a good clip) will create a pressure bow wave. This will keep the bow central in the tunnel and ease one’s difficulty of keeping the boat central. I used to ricochet side to side till I sped up. Stay safe. John
This was just wonderful to watch today. Really uplifting but also relaxing. You really captured such beautiful nature images today. Autumn really does look spectacular in Leicestershire. Love that place and that fox at Foxton locks, so amazing! Wonderful poetry and drawing. I'd certainly buy that book. How beautiful that lady sent you gifts from Aussie land how very kind. xx
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. It so super to know that you felt uplifted and relaxed. Ah the fox was a beauty and it was such a privilege to spend some time with it. Jenny from Australia is such a sweetie and I love the books that she sent. Have a wonderful rest of the week, take care🦋🌻🦊
Thank you for your lovely comment HJ the pleasure was all mine....I mean Vanessa gives so much pleasure to all of us it was nice to return the favour cheers from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘
Everything is so beautiful! The views drawings and poetry! I’m sure you’ve heard this before but have you thought about turning your drawings into books of journals that your viewers can use? Keep the drawings with blank pages!❤
Another gorgeous vlog thanks Vanessa. Those Autumn colours are just magnificent and the markings on that fox stunning!!🦊 That beautiful kingfisher is beyond belief. So glad you finally got my package call it your first Chrissy pressy because, I dont know about you but I dont think I could go through the stress of sending another🤭🤭🤭😳 I hope the books bring you many hours of happy reading on those cold winter nights which are heading your way as our weather starts to warm up. Again thankyou to your daughter too🤗 love n hugs from afar and thankyou for your public acknowledgement it bought tears to my eyes...Im such a sook 🤭🤣🥰🙏
Hi Jenny, well I’m a sook too!😁😂 Thank you for such a lovely comment and I really love the books too. It is so interesting to see the different styles of nature drawings. I also adored the cards, bookmarks and photographs which are now on my art box. Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋
Hi Caroline, it is lovely to hear that you are enjoying the vlogs. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋
Hi Paul, it is really pretty at Foxton isn't it and I am looking forward to doing the flight of locks in a few weeks. I think you should definitely do it on your next boat hire.👍 Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋🦊
It was a rather cheeky, little fox wasn't it? So brave to be out and about and making its own way in the world. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend Glyn, take care🦋🌻🦊
Wow. I just discovered a new RUclips to follow. Thank you for sharing your photography and videos. It's so nice and easy to enjoy the scenery and animals the way you show them. I love the way you captured the fox for a short time and then we watch it go! Beautiful!
You have a beautiful way of showing nature at its best , how you have come on so much with your vlog presentations there a pleasure to watch 🙂 . As a young boy in the early 60s those furry caterpillars 🐛were every where you looked, and those black and yellowish ones as well but I've not seen any for years too much development 😒. Sorry no tips for you this week lol. Have a lovely weekend 🦊🦋🕸🕷
Hi Simon, thank you so much for your lovely comment. It is sad that you don't spot anymore caterpillars like you used to. 🐛🐛 My vlogs are slowly improving and you have been there from the beginning which I am so grateful for, and which is why I will let you off for not having any super tips for me this week! I am still waiting to give the dutch oven bread a try. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
I am sure it is good to stay in one place as you have so much to do in your days and weeks. Amazing birds herons, so elegant. Seemed a long tunnel and how old it is.
Hi Vanessa, thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you are well? The tunnel is 225 years old I think. It’s amazing isn’t it? Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, take care🌻🦋
Just started watching your vlogs via Narrowboatwill's channel Loving this vlog, so calming and knowledgeable.. Got a lump in my throat and a small tear in my eye when you narrated your poem whilst drawing Mr 🦊 You have a talent! Kevin x
What a lovely comment, thank you so much, Kevin😊 Narrowboat Will is a pal of mine and so funny to watch isn’t he? I had tears in my eyes too when I saw the fox in the field, such beautiful creatures! Welcome aboard, have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
Delightful video once again. You have a skill for capturing the best colour and light to make all things appear quite magical. But the kingfisher and fox were mesmerising. I was keen to hear more about headless Ann and am now going to do a little research to see if I can find more of her story! Safe cruising and creating.
Hi Leanne, thank you so much for your lovely comment.😊🤗 If you find about the headless ghost of Anne, I would love to know as I spent a while trying to find her story and I couldn't go deeper than the fact she was a ghost without a head? Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, take care🌻🦋
Love watching your vlogs vanessa, and love your poetry, my home backs on to a canal and the wildlife is stunning as you show, take care and keep filming then get your book published. Gary.
Hi Gary, how wonderful to live by the canal. I hope the boats are passing at a slow speed past? It is lovely to know how much you are enjoying the vlogs, thank you so much 😊 Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋
This is just beautiful! Perfect relaxation for me after a difficult week And you got your fox too! 🦊 Absolutely Stunning both the kingfisher and fox - everything in fact. What pens/pencils/inks do you use in your journal please? Your drawings are so so good and the colours too Are you continuous cruisers? Do you ever stay longer than one week in a place? (Sorry loadsa questions 🙂) As someone else has said your vlogs just get better and better, and they really do Don't we all need a bit of that Einstein quote in our lives right now?! Take care and many thanks 🙏
Hi Margaret, thank you for your lovely comment and questions. The pencils that I use are Derwent watercolour pencils and I also use a sketch box of pencils and charcoal. We are continuous cruisers and rarely stay in a place longer than a week. We have only done that during lockdown and when the river Thames was flooded and we couldn't move. Sometimes, we have to move more than one a week: to use the services, or because of mooring restrictions. I agree that we all need a bit of the Einstein quote in our lives right now! 👍 Have a wonderful weekend, take care, Margaret.🌻🦋
WoW what an amazing little journey you are on. Beautiful videos. Thanks. I love narrow boats. I once did all the locks at foxton. The lock keepers had a black Labrador called Smokes. Enjoy 👍
Hi Senna, well done for getting through those locks! I’ve got that to look forward to soon and I hope they still have their black Labrador- Zephyr will love that if they do. Thank you so much for watching, take care🦋🌻
Thanks Vanessa, this was a particularly beautiful vlog with all the wildlife and terrific camera work and as always, your diary with your beautiful art and poetry is worthy of publishing. I agree with Tony (AzzyTwoz) and I'd buy it. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thank you so much, Stevie for your kind and lovely words. The October light is really beautiful to film at the moment so I hope it continues. I am so touched that you would like to buy a copy of my journal. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
Ive been asking Vanessa for quite a while now to get ner journals printed...any idea anyone how she can do this? Maybe a little crowd funding, maybe half of which could go to a worthwhile (well arent they all really?) charity.....an eco canal restoration fund or wildlife care etc...
Hi Mark, what a lovely comment and Zephyr woofs a big "thank-you" 🐾🐾 to you for your kind words about her and for being a pet lover. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋

This is my first watch, very interesting you have chilled me out your drawings are amazing to ,been on narrow boat for a wk ,few years ago I took to it straight away, I have been on hols all different parts of word but my narrow boat was one of my best ,take care.
Welcome aboard, Paul! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I am so glad that you enjoyed the vlog. It is great to hear that your narrow boating holiday was your favourite holiday to date. I hope that you get to have another narrow boat break then. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
Well, I can only mirror the comments that have been left below... Fantastic footage. You've always had the right eye, angle and approach in your filming, but the quality over the last few videos has gone up a few levels - no doubt a camera upgrade has taken place. I suspect you will soon be headhunted by the BBC and others to be a wildlife camerawoman. Sadly for me, I'm coming to the end of my binge on your vlogs, only a few more to go before I'm up to date with the latest...😭 Even though I'll have to wait for them each week from now on, I'm sure they will be so, so worth it. Thank you.
Thank you so,so much for sticking with the videos and for such a lovely comment. It means a great deal to me to know that you are enjoying the vlogs. I had already uploaded this vlog before you bought me all of those coffees so I will thank you in next week’s vlog. Do I use the name, Mastercraft? Happy New Year!🦋🌻🥳
You do really well to capture those things on film and drive the boat. I am normally hanging off the side or bow somewhere when I try and find things like bats. Hats off to you, Trev! Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
@@themindfulnarrowboat you to Vanessa. BTW there are 4 pairs of red kites working near the canal from just after the winding hole to just after where I saw you yesterday. I also saw kingfishers in 3 different places
Headless ghosts, yellow meadow ants (a new critter for me!) & that shot of the kingfisher, amazing! Your artwork & poetry are beautiful. Do you teach art online or is this just a remarkable hobby? Edit: forgot to mention that fox footage!
Hi Jeff, I am so pleased that you enjoyed the vlog. Thank you for your lovely comments too. I teach primary subjects and English online; the art/poetry is a hobby. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦊🦋
Hi John, I am just learning as I go, but I am utterly obsessed with learning as much as I can about the wildlife outside my window. Thank you so much for your lovely comment- take care🌻🦋
What an absolute privilege to see a Kingfisher sit for so long… also as you say the beautiful Fox… as a live aboard I’ve only ever seen the blue streak of Kingfisher as they Zip along the canal… I wish I could draw “half as good as you”…
Kingfishers are just magical aren't they? Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super week, take care.🦋🌻

That is one healthy looking fox.
It was a gorgeous looking fox wasn't it? Great to see it looking so healthy. Thank you for watching, take care🌻🦋🦊
The Fox sequence was really cool
Thank you, Roy. It was so cool spending some time with the fox too. Have a super rest of the week, take care🦋🌻
Great footage on the fox. They are beautiful creatures.
Thank you so much, Francis. Foxes are indeed such beautiful creatures and I was over the moon when I spotted this one. Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋🦊

That is such a kind and generous comment. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🌻🦋

It is lovely to know that you have started your weekend off with The Mindful Narrowboat- thank you so much. 😊 Have a wonderful rest of it, take care🌻🦋
Amazing you had so much time with the kingfisher. Love your fox drawing. You stay warm and well.
Amazing stories as always.
Clever tiger tail caterpillar
What a happy fox.
Have a super Sunday and week ahead, take care🦋🌻🦊
omg, what a lovely this video, thank you! 🍁🐶🌳🍁🐿️🍁
Thank you so much lovely, Joan!😊 Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, take care🌻🦋

Lovely video again Vanessa, and what colours. Mr Fox was a nice catch. Looking forward to seeing the adventure unfold. Have a good week ahead.
Hi Nigel, oh the fox was a beauty and I was on cloud nine after watching it that evening! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super Sunday and week ahead, take care🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat it looked a “well fed” fox 🦊 too. The foxes (urban) I see here are not so lucky. Have a fun week. Take care Vanessa.
Love your vlogs! They are both entertaining and informative. We get to see all the different fauna and wildlife of the canals.
That is so kind of you. Thank you so much. Take care🦋🌻
Hi, a practice I used when transiting narrow tunnels. Four knots (a good clip) will create a pressure bow wave. This will keep the bow central in the tunnel and ease one’s difficulty of keeping the boat central. I used to ricochet side to side till I sped up. Stay safe. John
Wow, John this is genius! We will have to give that a try. Thank you so much for watching. Take care🦋🌻
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I haven’t thought about doing that with the journal. That’s a really interesting idea. Take care🦋🌻

Brilliant vlog Vanessa, the fox footage was a real treat. Love Foxton, never done it by boat but we may do on our next hire x
Hi Paul, it is really pretty at Foxton isn't it and I am looking forward to doing the flight of locks in a few weeks. I think you should definitely do it on your next boat hire.👍 Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋🦊
Cheeky looking fox there 😃 the trees are looking great this time of year 👌 lovely film 👍 hope your all well ... Glyn
It was a rather cheeky, little fox wasn't it? So brave to be out and about and making its own way in the world. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend Glyn, take care🦋🌻🦊

Thank you, Indi!🤗😊 Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
Wow. I just discovered a new RUclips to follow. Thank you for sharing your photography and videos. It's so nice and easy to enjoy the scenery and animals the way you show them. I love the way you captured the fox for a short time and then we watch it go! Beautiful!
Welcome aboard, Amy! Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment. too😊 Have a super week, take care🦋🌻
Fantastic again
Thank you so much 😊 🌻🦋
You have a beautiful way of showing nature at its best , how you have come on so much with your vlog presentations there a pleasure to watch 🙂 .
This was the most enjoyable video I have seen for a long time, you now have a new subscriber, thank you.
Welcome aboard, Captain G and thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super Sunday and rest of the week ahead, take care🌻🦋
Just started watching your vlogs via Narrowboatwill's channel
Loving this vlog, so calming and knowledgeable..
Got a lump in my throat and a small tear in my eye when you narrated your poem whilst drawing Mr 🦊
You have a talent!
Another lovely vlog, can’t wait for the next one
Thank you so much, Graham for such a lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
Sounds like a Vanessa story to me🤭🤭..'the kingfisher and the fox went out one day, they met Vanessa and Zephyr along the way.....'
Your filming is outstanding ❤😊
🤗 Thank you so much. Merry Christmas!🌻🦋
Beautiful!
Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
So lovely, thank you.
You are so welcome, Harry. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
That was beautiful thank you x
Thank you so much, Frances for watching and for your lovely comment. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🦋🌻
I love your journal books, they look really good. You're very talented. And absolutely love your dog. I'm a pet lover. 😃
Hi Mark, what a lovely comment and Zephyr woofs a big "thank-you" 🐾🐾 to you for your kind words about her and for being a pet lover. Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋

Wonderful stuff! Thanks.
Thank you so much 😊 What a lovely comment! 🤩 Take care 🌻🦋
Sadly for me, I'm coming to the end of my binge on your vlogs, only a few more to go before I'm up to date with the latest...😭
Even though I'll have to wait for them each week from now on, I'm sure they will be so, so worth it.
Happy New Year!🦋🌻🥳
Such a beautiful video, Vanessa. Looked like autumn was approaching. Lovely shot of the fox and the starlings.
Where in the country are you now?
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am on the Macclesfield Canal now. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🌻🦋

hello you are a very talented lady i have just found you on here and look forward to following you on your narrow boat adventures
Welcome aboard, Dougie! Thank you so much for joining the journey and for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend, take care 🌻🦋
I saw the bat boxes to, but I did not see any bats. I also filmed that red bush just before the tunnel to.
Your knowledge of nature and wildlife is impressive, your journals look very interesting, have any been published?.
Hi John, I am just learning as I go, but I am utterly obsessed with learning as much as I can about the wildlife outside my window. Thank you so much for your lovely comment- take care🌻🦋
