I love watching kites, falcons, hawks flying, they have such poise. The factory must be producing by products which the birds feed on otherwise surely they wouldn't stay around. Thanks for the awesome trip, so peaceful. Take care =-) Post script as I comment through your journey and not wait until end. I'm following the progress of 2 peregrine falcon chicks who are approximately 3 weeks old and live in a water tower nest box in Orange, NSW Australia, it's fascinating watching the parent birds caring for the chicks. Totally time consuming ..... =-)

Some of these narrow boats are wonderfully cozy and beautifully fitted out....I can almost imagine the comforting sound of water lapping the Hull whilst lying in my bunk..Reading by ships lamp..

Hi Max, thank you so much for such a lovely comment.😊 Zephyr was a cheeky, very energetic pup and when I got her, I used to take her to work with me hoping she would make a good therapy dog for the children in my school. Sadly, even though she loves children, she didn't like school very much and just wanted to play all of the time. Since we have moved onto our boat, she is much happier and calmer as she is no longer expected to attend school!😁 Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋

"Even though the peregrine falcons like this site...they can't nest here"
WHY?
"It's not allowed. The CRT only allows 48 hour nesting and will fine the birds if caught nesting for any longer! However, should the birds request long-term nesting, they must pay the government $3,000 per week or be subject to imprisonment and removal of their nest!" 🤣
The ledge is too narrow for the falcons and on the opposite building it doesn't get enough sunlight for warmth, so that is why, I think they haven't chosen to nest there. I like your suggestion of CRT not allowing them to nest there though😂 Take care🦋🌻

Loved this vlog. I love seeing the kites, buzzards and kingfishers along the grand union canal my local kayaking routes provide such a wonderful array of wildlife even a cormorant gave me a surprise diving down into the dark waters of the canal close to rose narrow boats just on the outskirts of my home village of Brinklow. Love the canals and rivers in my area, kayaking for me is a wonderful cleanser for the soul and exercise too especially while being chased by the swans as i padfle by when their nesting. Have fun spotting those secret birds in the wild hedges love your poems and drawings lovely book uouve created very gifted thankyou for that gift to those of us that watch your narrow boat life.. kev the Brinklow kayaker...

I'm really enjoying binge watching your videos! You dobsuch a great job narrating and your artwork and poetry is so beautiful! 🥰... I think I would like to spend 3 or 4 years doing what you are doing...I had, briefly...contemplated a permanent move to England, but as I began to reflect on how diverse the U.S. is and the vastness of our landscapes, mountains, deserts, prairies, and farmlands, deltas, seashores, swamps...and our wildlife! From bears to sea lions, cougar to racoon, fox, badger, marmot, bald eagles, and Elk, deer...I realized just how LUCKY we are to have all this!! I've been fishing and seen herds of elk walk out of the woods, and cross 100 feet from me, almost hit a moose last year on my way home from work, I saw 2 bear in my neighbors yard...I ALWAYS have bear in my yard- 6,8 times a year...lol. I sit outside and listen to wolves howl...
You have a vast amount of swan, and wildfowl there...But honestly? I know I'd miss the U.S. and have to return...I don't think I'd be truly happy living there permanently...You really need to visit Yellowstone!!!
I think the wildlife that you have where you are is incredible and I don't blame you for not wanting to leave. Yellowstone is on my bucket list, although I promised myself six years ago that I would never fly in a plane again, so I'll have to think about the best way to get to Yellowstone...by my narrowboat!🤭 Thank you for watching, take care🦋🌻

The reintroduction of Red Kites has been a phenomenal success. Here in Berkshire we have countless breeding pairs which grace the sky above the fields behind our house. To watch them soar and swoop is a wonderful distraction and better than any medication.

I love your bird illustrations! I'm an artist and have drawn birds and other animals over the years, from photographs and my imagination. I live in Seattle, WA, USA where Redwing blackbirds, Cedar Waxwings, Pin-tail ducks, Kestrels, hawks, Bald Eagles, pelicans, Mergansers, etc. abound. Seattle is surrounded by Puget Sound and Lake Washington plus the Pacific Ocean off the Olympic Peninsula is a great place to bird watch as well as enjoy whales, sea otters, etc. I'd love to live aboard a narrow boat and cruise the canals of Great Britain. You’ll see LOTS of Red Kites on the Leeds Liverpool canal. Especially north of Leeds. I live in Harrogate and they’re in everywhere here. Hundreds of them, all the time. It’s all you hear in the back garden

So good to see so many kingfishers and even better in flight. How easy is it to get your groceries delivered? Must be complicated not knowing where you are going to be each week. Careful planning I am sure.

Getting groceries delivered is easy if you have moored near a good pick up spot. I like doing one big shop and then not having to worry about mooring near a place with shops. Also it frees up some time to do other things. Thank you for watching, take care 🦋🌻
That was a very pleasent trip. I have always wanted to travel the canels. I bought a sailboat instead. But found my motorcycle more to my fancy. Your trip was inspiring. I loved seeing the way you kept your journal.

When training hunting birds their trainers will use a lure on rope to get the birds to swoop down as if hunting. Every time the bird does this right the trainer rewards it with a small piece of it's favourite meat. The bird will then fly up to a high place awaiting the next bit of meat. However wild birds will fill up their crop and then stop further hunting untill they digest their catch, the trainers say this is because the birds are "Fed Up".

We also have a lot of family commitments so our time is limited.
