Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation Euclid Class object, SCP-799 Carnivorous Blanket Animation.
SCP 799 vary in size, shape, and superficial appearance, but always retain the appearance of a knit or woven item of bedding made from an unfamiliar but very soft natural fiber. SCP799 are living organisms and will wait for a large animal to wrap up in it before opening its mouth, tearing off a few kilograms of biomass, and consuming it.

Sounds pretty benign and even beneficial to me. Even a dog will turn vicious if you starve it. I'd happily own and use a blanket which is warmer than merino wool, is self-repairing, and consumes household dust, mold spores, pet dander, and other contaminants.

To be fair this scp is scary but also extremely intelligent. It figures out how to get food and if it can't it uses other methods

I love this one. The first, passive form could easily be a blanket in your own home, living in symbiosis with you, as long as it's fed. Could even be your favorite blanket that you sleep with every night.
Hmm, judging by how it feeds it isn't just like a coral, it is a coral. Probably a leather or other soft coral that managed to make the move onto land. There are corals that primarily filter feed, but have sticky tentacle like structures much like anemones and if any creature small enough and unlucky enough touches these tentacles, the coral will eat them instead.
Green star polyp is a good real life counterpart as it forms a soft skeleton that the polyps (the animals themselves) hide in. And yeah, it'll eat larger shrimps should the need arise.

I won't lie, as a father, the beginning of this video is probably the most terrifying, tense, sad, thing I have ever seen.

I remember something from SCP-799 before watching this video and i think i know why the baby was crying (i'm at 2:48).
I think that SCP-799 wanted to feed with the baby so it started crying and baby kicked off the blanket.

It's a really cute concept when thinking of having one as an easy to take care of pet, giving owners a heated blanket in exchange for food.
I'm assuming 799 is capable of surviving the washer and dryer since there are so many instances that it would be easy to clean too.

God the suspense on this one was SO GOOD Dr Bob! I was tense the whole time. I kept going "Don't you hurt that baby. Dont you hurt that old lady! No don't hurt the baby!!" Fantastic choice of characters to display this one. Wouldn't have been nearly as good with young adult characters

It's very sad how the old woman was killed by SCP-799.
At the same time, it's also fascinating how the baby was able to detect that the blanket was dangerous even before it began to show its anomalous effects. Perhaps this is a sign that the boy has the potential to be an effective Foundation agent or researcher one day...

I have a hospital blanket I got when I almost died when I was 17. It's a bit worn out and isn't exactly the warmest, but it's still my favourite
I was here thinking this entity was a parasite that's hard to detect in the wild enters a blanket, spreads its nervous system throughout it and uses it as an artificial home like a hermit crab. I was also thinking it might feed on prey in a way similar to a star fish where once someone uses the blanket, it completely engulfs its prey and slowly digests them from the inside. What I gathered from this file is that the blanket itself comes to life or has been alive from the day it entered this world since they can reproduce and has an actual mouth it uses to feed. Maybe there's not much information and it can be explained better but I prefer what I came up with.
